This. All the characters are supremely ugly. If they're gonna have blacks fill up 90%, they could have made them look good instead of like ghetto trash.
It catered to absolutely nobody. I tried to watch it but the way they made Buzz so incompetent in the first 10-15 minutes put me off and I closed the movie, never to watch it again
People didn't expect this weird convoluted "this is the movie Andy saw" thing, no one really understood what they're going for from marketing. The lesbian couple fiasco also gave out negative press. The film itself was mediocre but I expected worse.
he basically carries the asses of all the nig nog sidekicks for the rest of the film to be fair
On one side you had the chuds whine about the lesbians
Then on the other side you had the anti-chuds go see it to spite the chuds, and they couldnt find a good reason to endorse the movie, other than to 'own the chuds'. It's a mediocre movie at best of moments.
>this is the movie that got andy excited about the buzz lightyear toys
lol
It's boring, it's not funny, the (very few) characters are uninteresting, the story could be told in half the runtime if not less, the director is an asshat going after the audiences, THE MESSAGE still worming its way in despite all previously mentioned issues not being fixed before release.
>Cars was the last non-Disney Pixar film >Ratatouille was the first Disney-Pixar film
This makes so much sense. Ratatouille was the first Pixar movie I couldn't sit through and I haven't liked a Pixar movie after that. I didn't know Disney bought them out at that time but now it all comes together.
everything ducked after Toy Story 3
arguably Toy Story 3 started it,. but I like it personally
Finding Dory and Cars 3 weren't actually too bad for what the were, Inside Out too, Coco was overrated
I liked the streak of Soul - Luca - Turning Red, these were good. Lightyear was completely mediocre and the next one Elemental while an original projectr looks uninteresting. The theme of elements is just very banal at this point.
Younger part of its demo would rather wait for streaming than wrangle kids in a theater.
Older part of its demo would rather see fighter jet or dinosaur movies. >but Minions did well
Nobody uses Peawiener, everyone has Disney+.
Just another children's movie made for aduts
Rips off Intersteller
Disregards the lore established by Buzz in Toy Story & TV Show
Le Gritty Realism
Preaches against Toxic Masculinity Boogeyman
Has nothing to do with the 90's action hero space opera genre he is supposedly a pastiche of
If they wanted it to be for adults then they shouldn't have wasted the villian so hard. The film could've been million times better if Old Buzz was from the same universe. And young Buzz had to confront the fact that he in the future will inevitably go mad and travel to the past to convince his younger self to do things differently (but he never does because it's a time loop). Buzz accepts the fate and appreciates the years of sanity he has left.
But they went for the parallel universe stupidity. Which makes absolutely no sense. Why does going into the past put Old Buzz into another universe? Does that mean if they go further to the past they'll end up in another unverse too? Then erasing shit from that timeline won't do shit to the timeline of the young Buzz because they universes are different. It's a stupid cop out so that the revelation has no depressing implications and consequences.
We get it, you have autism and can’t pick up on things. Your opinions are immediately disregarded
The only autist here is you, he is accepting of the diversity the entire film. He doesn't learn to like black people and gays. He learns to accept failure and one of the characters goes throught the banal character arc of being incompetent and then becoming good.
It doesn't make any sense canonically yes, but that's not as important as it not making any sense even by itself, in a vacuum. The villian could've salvaged the film but instead it made it worse. At least the things that happened before while generic space action shite at least made sense. This tho inroduces such a glaring hole even I can't ignore itr, and I usually don't give a single frick about muh plotholes and muh logical inconsistencies. Mostly because not only what they went for is stupid but also - boring. It essentially bring nothing. The theme of the film - about accepting mistakes, was already obvious, it's a generic topic that was presented in a generic way. But with the villian they basically spelled it out out loud. It's the most childish thing there despite constant attempts at some sort of grounded appeal.
there's legitimately nothing fun or interesting about the entire movie. buzz is a frick up and doesn't seem like a hero at all and the main bad guy is barely in it. all around just boring to look at and watch. the story also seems like it wasn't written with children in mind there's no bright, fun, funny or interesting aliens it's all just people that you don't give a shit about.
ffs, all Disney had to do was "go to planet, blow up robots, arrest zerg" and couldn't even do that. This needed to be a bone dry Flash Gordon or Radioman serial, and nothing else. The additional fake diversity and black character added is boring. Others have said it but it's because the film is written like sex in the city or a rom com (a bad one) and not a movie boys would be into. It needed a threat, explosions and buzz doing cool things. FWIW black space ranger girl could also do cool things and could also do cool things with her lesbo partner but this didn't happen. No body is gonna watch it and give a shit versus, I dunno, the actual spacemen serials of the 1930s and 40s.
It is a perfect example of corrupting a good idea by making it too complicated and overthinking it. All it had to be was Buzz vs robots for 60 minutes.
>It looked boring. >The gay kiss they kept pushing in the media made the film too political for some. >Most westerners don’t really care about animation (with some exceptions) >the movie was boring, it was Christopher Nolan Interstellar for Kiddies >ruined Emperor Zurg
Because it’s one of the most ugliest artstyle in the world
This. All the characters are supremely ugly. If they're gonna have blacks fill up 90%, they could have made them look good instead of like ghetto trash.

Fricking look at it
I like it, even made a no lesbo shit edit for my family and close people.
Black folk and gays
No one asked for it.
It's boring, it's not funny, the (very few) characters are uninteresting, the story could be told in half the runtime if not less, the director is an asshat going after the audiences, THE MESSAGE still worming its way in despite all previously mentioned issues not being fixed before release.
It's failure as entertainment.
It wasn't made in the 90s with Pixar's best talent
Pixar hasnt put out anything of note since they got bought out by disney in 2006
>Cars was the last non-Disney Pixar film
>Ratatouille was the first Disney-Pixar film
This makes so much sense. Ratatouille was the first Pixar movie I couldn't sit through and I haven't liked a Pixar movie after that. I didn't know Disney bought them out at that time but now it all comes together.
Wall-e was great though
The first few minutes of Wall-E and Up are bright spots in that dark era, but the rest of each movie is not up to par with classic Pixar.
Just take a look at these duds. Maybe 1 or 2 memorable film in the lot whereas before everything the put out was certified gold
everything ducked after Toy Story 3
arguably Toy Story 3 started it,. but I like it personally

>there are at least double the amount of bad Pixar movies than good ones
>Buzz Buzz Buzz SUCKS wienerS NOW HE TAKES IT IN THE ASS WITH wienerS AND CUM
Due to intervention of the movement known as Chud.
Younger part of its demo would rather wait for streaming than wrangle kids in a theater.
Older part of its demo would rather see fighter jet or dinosaur movies.
>but Minions did well
Nobody uses Peawiener, everyone has Disney+.
the premise in itself is confusing. why is buzz a real human? why is it set in the future? what connection does it have to the original character?
Who cares?
it's just boring premise. i don't think kids were interested and neither were adults

Zerg is supposed to be Buzz's father according to Toy Story 2. The whole plot of Lightyear is stupid to being with

it could have been this
they took this from you
I don't even need this, I just need something that feels like this
Okay, but, like, where's the DIVERSITY???
There is only one human. Thats pretty diverse. Unless you don't know what diversity is?
>wh*teoids
>human
i see no humans in this picture
Who cares about some old relic from the 90s Christ when’s the last time you watched it
well at least i watched it, unlike so many that didnt watch lighyear

The only consistently-praised character is the cat. It's a fricking cat. It's going to be praised no matter what movie it's in.
Did it bomb? I might have watched it if I was a kid and didn't have the cynicism I have now.
Got devoured by dinosaurs.
Promotes homosexuality, miscegenation, and space travel.
I refused to take my kids to see it because of the promotion of homosexuality in it.
You’re kids are going to grow up repressed homosexuals you’re sons probably thinking about taking drama class and sucking wieners right now
Most people are not gay, and are in fact quietly disgusted by homosexuality. You live in a deluded fantasy world.
>be a homosexual
>can't resist talking about young boys sucking dick
Checks out
Get ready to pay for drama classes and dance school
No thanks. Any way I can try to keep you from diddling my kids I will try.
Your little boy is going to start sucking wieners as soon as he gets old enough get ready to cut him out of your life lmao

Because he was such a well developed and interesting character before this
he was at least entertaining
You don't need to be well developed. Some of the best villains are cookie cutter
List them
was it even funny? I think there was one funny joke and thats me being weird that I found it funny
IS THAT A HECKIN KITTY CAT?! I WILL NOW WATCH YOUR MOVIE
