This is just sad. He’s getting ratioed by 8 year olds with anime avatars.

Two of them. Directed by Shinji Higuchi no less. They aren't good, but there's some neat VFX.

        kek he's having a meltdown

        >posts examples of thoughtful, tactful sci-fi that actually explores some questions or tackles some big concepts

Where as his movie just las lesbians and lots of brown people because Disney really wants to market to those demographics. Like, I can think of really fascinating sci-fi stories that either have interesting LGBT characters. But, they aren't coming out of Hollywood. Nothing made to sell lunchboxes will ever have real merit.

I mean the gay kiss is the only interesting thing in the movie to talk about because it's generic trash. Tells you a lot about it.

You know what? All this shit talking had made me more interested in seeing the movie, overall being a flop doesn't mean that a movie is completely worthless, hell there's plenty of movies that flopped but are quite good and there's plenty of movies that were box office it while being trash

The lightyear director is a good example of how immature you can be when responding to criticism. Like all you have to do is ignore the tranime tard and call it a day. But no he has to put his big boy cage on and go full cuck mode to defend his shit.

The director of lightyear is seething at a troll anime homosexual account and genuinely believes a domestic failure is the same as a universal box office bomb. Also he doesn’t seem to understand that 37,000,000 for some cheap nip movie is actually pretty fricking good and they probably turned a profit.

yes, I unironically like HxH but I can see why it doesn't appeal to western non-spectrum sensibilities. It's very much a product of the Japanese mindset which in the west is reflected in autistic people.

I love organizing, technicalities, worldbuilding, strategy in mundane things so it appeals to me.

The only parts of the series that bother me are the degrading art and extended hiatuses

I’m not making an appeal to hypocrisy or belittling you. I’m merely arguing for a more truthful acceptance of what “seinen” actually means in the practical sense. Does it upset you, knowing the truth? That is not my problem

                >Yes it does
                assertion fallacy
Either way, I will tell you why it doesn’t
adding “mature” content, or rather, content that would be censored from material intended to be marketed to minors, doesn’t change the essential themes from childish to mature
it merely changes the age at which people are allowed to see (or be marketed) an uncensored version of the work (e.g. rape and gore scenes removed from a film do not change the nature of the themes of the content but rather the age at which it can be legally viewed)
if you add a bunch of butt-naked women to pokemon, it doesn’t become a show for grown-ass men, it’s just a kids work with adult content
the same as if you removed all the explicit gore and rape from berserk, it wouldn’t suddenly be for 2 year olds instead of 17 year olds

Hate to take the side of the fallacy ad hominem Black person but I think he’s right about sex/gore not making something more mature

When I was 11-14 I loved media filled with sex and gore. I think most boys that age do, but because of western age ratings that mostly came about for religious reasons, many things that are obviously for young teens are considered “adult”. I think something like Deadpool or Family Guy are prime example of things that are very clearly for pre teen boys, but will get labeled as “mature” regardless because it contains sexual and violent content, even though that content is portrayed extremely immaturely

Age ratings were a mistake because now NPC’s who will enjoy anything that’s labeled as being made for them will proudly proclaim how much they love a show like big mouth, even though it should be considered embarrassing to enjoy something like that past puberty it’s content is labeled as “mature” because of outdated religious rating systems, and since normies lack critical thinking they will watch a poorly made cartoon for pre teens and wholeheartedly believe they are viewing something that was made for grown adults without questioning it

I started reading Berserk recently and it feels like it was aimed at older teens/young men. I do fit into that demographic and I’m enjoying it so far, but you should enjoy what you want no matter what your age is. Just don’t get defensive and insist that media for kids was made for you because it’s fricking embarrassing, Star Wars fans are a prime example of this

Yeah, a human impulse. Obviously those are natural, but here's the thing; part of being
          1. A grown-ass, mature adult
          2. A highly visible professional at a high level on the industry
is still having all those natural impulses but choosing which, if ANY, to actually act on.

As a child you learn this little thing called "self-control", where you learn NOT to act on every natural feeling or impulse you have, namely when it's unwise, counterproductive or unecessary.
This is further refined when you are (or really BEFORE you are) an employed adult, where you learn "professionalism"; i.e. a larger and sometimes subtler array of actions you choose not to engage in due to either how it would reflect on your employers of how it's unnecessary/pointless due to your status and level in an industry.

For example: Taking critiscism of your movie; legitimate OR trolling-based; so seriously that you feel the need to personally respond, let alone with juvenile, catty quipping, is both unnecessary and unprofessional when you're a high-level, famous director paid a seven-figure sum by a Megacorp to direct a movie about space-wizards.
In general, responding like that to every possible opportunity online is something typically associated with children who haven't yet learned basic Internet Etiquette or overaged Boomers who started using the Internet too late and too recently to learn it. This is more true by an order of fricking magnitude if you are, again, ALSO a high-level, famous director paid a seven-figure sum for your "work".

Have I explained these apparently foreign concepts to you as succinctly and as overly detailed/informative as YOU personally need? Do you need it even more explanatory for you? Perhaps some visual-aids? Some Dictionary definitions of the vocabulary?

Most common cope tactic in the world is the strawman but here it's subtle: the word "insert".
He's actually right Sci-Fi has gotten political many times, the difference is that he *shoehorned* politics in whereas they *inserted* or *incorporated* politics.
Same with every time people complain about works being "made political" they don't necessarily have an issue with using media to make a statement but when it's done in a hamfisted and one-sided way no fricking shit people get upset with you.

Marxist revisionists just screech that it's a story about America's silly fear of the "other" and the "cold war" to mock and discredit people's very warranted fears of Communism, a political system which murdered over 100mil people during the 20th century.

Pretty sure that the latest charts for "graphic novel" sales have 95% manga and 5% or less capeshit in the top 20. It makes comic book authors seethe.

They keep pandering only to 5% of their country, and then they wonder why the sales aren't so good. Meanwhile japan might not produce high art, but it's incredibly appealing to everyone, hence why anime and manga are at the peak of their popularity.
