These are all things that hold back anime as they exist on mass in shows, yet for some reason newer cartoonists are copying these flaws like they're good things. Using them to "flare" up their toon without realizing what weak foundation they have for a story.
You'll have people like Rebecca Sugar, that copy studio Ghibli's "beanmouth" and full on scenes from their movies (

That movie KNEW how to build on pre-existing scenes, so when it came time for the emotional payoff, it REALLY payed off. Meanwhile SU will constantly dilly dally between quirky townie episodes and melodrama with the gems, so when this came up it didn't have anywhere near the same impact.
What I'm trying to say to say is look past all the fancy details that come AFTER the script is made and really think about what made X thing a good story in the first place if you're gonna draw from inspiration. You might even discover something that no one has thought of yet with said story or maybe you realize it was never that good to begin with.
To add onto this as well, don't just limit yourself to mainly anime or cartoons for ideas, I've noticed a recent problem with newer shows in both categories showing signs of ideas becoming too incestuous in the medium so try and branch out into other art forms if you can.
The best kind of inspiration (speaking from personal experience) you can draw from are real life experiences.
English speaking gays have it lucky that English does not have any grammatical gender left in it, so all they do is obsess over pronouns. Where I live the push for this woke shit is comparatively small but when someone who identifies as "they" tries to speak, it sounds like newspeak mess.
