I don't get it. wouldn't a tie-in cartoon be an easy way to cash in on that success?

Because those series were very faithful. The new movies are not and attract normies, who don't like what made them great and pull creative fans of the genre to write cartoons. Now all writers want to get it on writing cartoons. So between that and studios wanting to ape the movies, which are getting further and further from the comics when it comes to faithfulness, we get really shoddy products. It's too bad, but that's just how it now is.

Actually they are. But they're so bad that people have forgotten. But this show got 75 more episodes than EMH. There was a Guardians show that everyone forgot about that was the movie versions. We also recently had What If? And soon there is going to be a new Spider-Man cartoon that takes heavy cues from the MCU version.

I hate how those marvel cartoons are just commercials to the movies, like look at tgise characters trying so hard to mimic the actors from the movies.
Came to a point they had to rewrite retcon some episodes for the plot to look more similar to the movies

James C. Mathis did a great T'Challa in EMH. And they brought him back in Assemble, but now it's a full-on Chadwick Boseman impression. Funnily enough, the EMH Iron Man voice actor sounds way more like RDJ than the guy they got in Assemble.

              Anonymous

That's because they actually got RDJ's official sound alike (ie the guy they bring in to do minor ADR corrections and edits that aren't worth getting the actual actor back into a studio for) to play Tony in EMH. For Assemble they decided to get Adrian Pasdar instead because they wanted a minor celebrity as the lead even though he sounds nothing like RDJ.

LMFAO. Had Thor looking like this in the fifth season of Assemble because the synergy was so important.

TFW the Hulk cartoon series (which was really MCU copying mostly) had Heimdall show up and they made him black but couldn't get Idris Elba, so they got a random NBA player.

Season 2 of Avengers EMH started to dip its toe into synergy (ie. the black Nick Fury going full Samuel L. Jackson in appearance, the intro calling Captain America The First Avenger even though that doesn't really make sense and the talking over the great song may have been because the lead singer was arrested and put in prison because he drunkenly penetrated a drunk passed out woman at a party), but Avengers Assemble went full synergy and filled in the gaps of what wasn't there from the movies mostly with a lot of shitty content from then new Marvel comics.

            >Batman: Arkham

The earlier ones I grant you but Arkham Knight was a shit show and the other ones are decade old at this point.

            >Unironically Lego games

I can't get into those but fair.

            >That top down Marvel game

You mean the online RPG one? That was ok but it quickly felt into the worst habits of those games and then quickly died after the company fell apart. Not a great example.

            >Marvel vs Capcom

The last one was terrible, and 3 was over a decade ago.

            >Injustice

Again the game is 10 years old.

            >All the old spidey games

Those are good, but those are even older.

Other than Spiderman there hasn't been a good game released in the last 10 years.

Ultimate Alliance and its sequel were also great. The fake third is only on Switch and is not canon to the first two as it swapped all of the comic aspects in favor of movie synergy and shitty new comics. And yes, the Spider-Man games were great and did the multiverse better than the recent movies. I hate how Miles is shoehorned into every piece of Spider-media now. Can't even let Peter have his games.

This. They stopped selling merch and action cartoons have gotten stupid expensive to make. Also there's less and less places on tv to air it. Most kids channels (all whopping 3 of them) mostly just show reruns of comedy cartoons all day because it gets them the best traffic because parents put it on as background noise to keep kids quiet.

Disney and Marvel Entertainment made some seriously bad decisions with Marvel cartoons:

      >The Loeb/MoA part of EMH
      >Ultimate Spider-Man
      >Hulk: Agents of SMASH
      >Avengers Assemble
      >Spider-Man 2017
      >Marvel Rising

Part of the problem was excessive MCU synergy to their detriment; EMH used elements of MCU but also drew from the comics in a way that made it feel distinctive. Other problems were bland design (Spider-Man and Marvel Rising come to mind) and really bad ideas (USM cartoon comes to mind)

This sounds plausible at first up until you realize either the cartoons weren't good enough (Marvel) or weren't really getting made (DC)

The only cartoon getting aired consistently and for a long time from DC was Teen Titans Go.

Young Justice had like a seven year gap between season 2's finale and season 3's start.

Beware the Batman and Green Lantern got cut short. (and honestly the CG didn't really do them much favors) and didn't have toylines (latter because the Green Lantern movie bombed so badly it affected merchandise at retailers). There was Justice League Action which was ok but kind of light. I don't recall a toyline for this. DC Super Hero Girls did ok though.

The earlier Spider-Man shows took from the classic comics. Ultimate was basically the Bendis Spider-Man cartoon. The newest Spider-Man was basically the Slott Spider-Man cartoon. And each had them with heat creative control. And Marvel Rising is Sana Amanat BS,

cartoons aren't cost effective, compared to mobileshit. whenever a new movie comes out, all devs have to do is add those promotional characters to the game and maybe a new event.

Think about it, the MCU are now using their C listers. Most of their major characters are gone. But nobody would watch a cartoon starring Captain Marvel Falcon and Ant Man and they know it. But they can't have Iron Man and Cap in the cartoon because there's no MCU synergy anymore because they're gone and probably not coming back. So they're stuck.

It's probably no coincidence Avengers Assemble and Guardians both ended right around the time Endgame came out.

It’s just the MCUck and their MUH SYNERGY dogshit

Picrel was airing concurrently with the X-Men movies, doing its own thing, had its own designs, was an original spin on the source material, and created OC characters that the later movies would use.

Young Justice was allowed to air independent of the Snydershart that was happening at the same time and it was kino. Teen Titans GO is allowed to completely do its own thing and has found a crossover audience independent of comic fans

As usual, the answer is Disney Bad.

Spectacular Spider-Man could have aired concurrently with the MCU shit, but Disney wanted their own cartoon that they could shove their MCU shitter characters into and have muh SYNERGY

James Gunn recently said that DC's new projects are going to have the same actors from the live action in the cartoons to have synergy (which screws a ton of voice actors who don't do live action acting).

Disney bought the rights to make Spider-Man cartoons but Sony still owned that specific show (but didn’t have the rights to make any more of it). They could’ve worked something out but Disney said frick it and made their own show

I'm bitter about Spectacular like everyone but no company is going to pay another company to make a show for them to air when they can just make their own.

The weirder situation is how uninvested Disney has been in crafting their own show. Spider-man of all characters moved merch with kids.

Superhero/action cartoons require good toy sales to fund the animation, plus they're serialised to maintain continuity, which can get confusing to people who randomly watch cartoons. It's why all the superhero cartoons died in the 2010s to be replaced by comedies.

they should move away from toys. Perhaps exploring having a phone game, something simplistic like DB Dokkan Battle to fund the animation or video game tie-ins e.g. DLC packs for Fortnite, DBD or other free to play games.

A few of the games that were made to tie-in to movies on console early on were decent. I had fun with the Thor, Captain America, and Green Lantern games. And they were going to make an Avengers game with the Skrulls as the villains but that was called off. I guess because they turned them into Chitauri in the movie. Too bad. Would've been better than the new one.
