I've seen so many people rave about Aragorn in this movie but both the character design and voice actor seem really ill-fitting to me.

He had Elven forbearers like twenty generations ago. He's 0.000001% Elf.

It's 20 homogenous generations of Numenorians, so it's not 0.0000001% at all

Boromir's character design is pretty bad too. Thought he was a dwarf at first. Same with Elrond, he looks like a man, not an elf.

        >Same with Elrond, he looks like a man, not an elf.

He's supposed to, Elrond is a half-Elf. Half-Elves are mortal but the gods let Elrond, his brother Elros, and their parents (who were both half-Elves also) if they wanted to be immortal or not. Only Elros chose mortality but he got a lifespan of over 400 years, the same as the oldest Dwarves.

Europeans just generally despise their own heritage and culture for some reason. Maybe because of the violent religious transition from paganism to christianity, which is why all the works of art that were based around European culture are just a free property for everyone else to use. European culture became the "default culture" and eventually "not a culture", because there were no people to protect it from appropriation. Even today, if a white person would like to reconnect with his ancient roots he will be trashed. And not by some strangers, but by his own fellow whites.

Him and most Numenoreans are described as being umber/tanned skin with dark features. When I first read LOTR (before Jackson's movies) this is honestly pretty close to how I imagined him.

"Aragorn is described as "lean, dark, and tall," with "a shaggy head of dark hair flecked with grey, and in a pale stern face a pair of keen grey eyes."[25] Tolkien later wrote that he was at least 6'6""

Though the morons at WotC and other leftwing troglodytes use the word "dark" here to justify him looking like an inbred version of Michael B Jordan. I think many times in the Silmarillion it's mentioned that Numenoreans are of darker complexion, being mariners. Makes me think they are meant to resemble Greeks/Romans more than Native Americans or naggers.

They were 100% Romans because Gondor = Byzantine. Osgiliath had its own Hagia Sophia even.

Yep. Makes me think Isildur's casting in RoP wasn't terrible, if only everyone in Numenor looked like that instead of it having the mathematically perfect diversity distribution of modern London. Also if he was portrayed as way less of a b***h.

They must not have it in your video games and Amazon show. Try actually reading Tolkien you subliterate oaf.

Gondor always felt like it had a Byzantine vibe. Defending the west from hordes of brown baby rapists and savages.

Tolkien literally describes him as having a PALE in your very quote. The "dark" description was likely describing his manner/vibe.

This. They tried to claim Joan of Arc was a niggress a few years back because she was described as "dark" in an old record as though they would casually let slip that she was a Black person and not that she dark hair like pic rel

"having a PALE face" is what that sentence should have said. not just having a pale. like a bucket lol.

The movie is filled with strange takes on the characters, like Sam being straight up autistic.
