The ones about men are also bad. The worst thing Harvey Pekar did was make people think anyone wanted to hear about the trivialities of their boring lives.

American Splendor works because Pekar at least has enough personality to usually make his stuff interesting. The problem is boring self-absorbed people telling boring self-absorbed stories about their boring self-absorbed lives that it inspired.

You’re thinking more about Drawn and Quarterly than Fantagraphics. DnQ were the ones who really pushed autobiographical indie comics and as a result the whole industry and scene are saturated with them.

Publishing has circled around to be discriminatory. I took my novel to a small publisher and they told me verbatim.
    >if you weren't a white male we'd love to publish it but as is there just isn't a need for this on the market

The problem is that they're losing out on the market of white guys who aren't in the israelite-WASP media complex who want something that speaks to them. For all they want equity, they refuse to do anything about the majority that has been historically excluded as well. Moreover, the minorities they get come from privileged backgrounds and don't really understand normal people better than those old white males they criticized. What the hell does a negress from Montreal understand about diversity?

JFC I remember reading some random graphic novel about this French woman’s autobiography comic about being an artist aka crazy prostitute. Her father to the surprise of no one was a rich ‘check’ French ‘check’ israeli ‘check’ butthole ‘check’ who apparently abused her but she actually glosses over that detail in fact she writes love letters about him even though she admits he’s a monster but hey he was a good frick so why not? No most of the graphic novel is explaining the various art projects she does while basically fricking any man woman animal in sight and she typically makes both art and sex as boring as possible. Also she can never just take a hint and when people in multiple countries tell you how fricking crazy you are they must be wrong. Oh and this won several awards by the way.

Yes the "great indie comics" indiegays have been trying to push for the last 20 years are pretentious nonsense about some real world event (they may or may not be funny animals) or pretentious autobiographies about the unintersting lives of extremely boring people told in a dull, self-pitying, navel gazing style.

You're forgetting gay romance and simplified dull retellings of historical events, anon. Those are big too. It seems like you can only get a single graphic novel published if it's "important" somehow. And it's ways single graphic novels too. Not every story can be contained well in one volume.
