"The chasm between the beauty and seriousness of the work, and what it has become, has overwhelmed me. The commercialization has reduced the aesthetic and philosophical impact of the creation to nothing. There is only one solution for me: to turn my head away... J.R.R? He was dead when jackson's movies came out. Neither was he alive when Ralph Bakshi's abomination came out.
His son christopher didn't like either movies. Chris was the custodian of his father's legacy and was seething endlessly that his father gave away the film rights without much thought. Made his job really hard to slap some sense into people adapting the books.

Problem with the LOTR films is, they are great fantasy movies albeit semi competent adaptions. Fellowship is the best in terms of adapting the source material, two towers is allright, rotk is just way too long.

We're never going to get a good adaption on the level of jackson's trilogy. Everything else afterwards was just ass. Our only hope is that some moronic autists gets a lotr project and is alllowed to adapt it properly.
So you have some weird animated/ghibli style movie with singing every ten minutes, beautiful drawn landscapes and waifugays getting their dicks blown off because arwen is the #1 waifu ever.

return of the King, the book version, is basically plot for two movies.
Shelob's lair was moved from two towers to return of the king. Adding even more length.
The struggle to save minas tirith and everyone pulling all the tricks to throw back Sauron's army is the core struggle. The movie basically sacrificed meaningful themes, such as men stepping up and slapping sauron on their own for cheap pre marvel shit.
Legolas soloing an oliphaunt, the ghosts murdering sauron's army and so on.
Shit was wasted on meaningless drivel instead of showing that gondor could still punch back, but Sauron has the longer breath.

The next core struggle is gandalf's mad gamble with frodo and the epilogue, that war also affects the homefront. The scouring of the shire being exluded was not good for a bookgay like me, but the epilogue feels really slow and long when you were thrown into moronic action scenes before. I'd rather have less action scenes or less moronic ones.
Would have made the epilogue feel more meaningful.

And even if the author is alive they can be wrong regarding their appreciation of the quality of an adaptation: there are many such cases.

I (unfortunately) watched a little bit of the show and I couldn’t enjoy him.
Not because the actor was bad or he didn’t do the roll well. He actually did the roll almost perfectly..
It’s just that every scene he was in was stupid because the whole show was written by stupid people.
So even if an actor gave a 10/10 performance it didn’t matter because the narrative structure was just that bad.

You seem genuine, so ill give a genuine answer. If you can't pick up trends in nature it's not necessarily a sign of weakness nowadays, but it is a sign that you have poor pattern recognition and should treat your brain like it sometimes doesn't work correctly for certain situations. I find that straight edge people with no obvious mental issues have trouble disagreeing with information their brain gives them i.e. you take all your sight, hearing and even intuition/instinct as absolute fact. Your instinct is to ignore the problem here, which is that bad production in general (writing/effects/editing) has grown to be synonymous with the focus on things such as diversity, lgbtqia+×÷ or any of the other things they choose to include to try to sell their products to a "wider" audience. If you read an article about a Jordan Peele movie coming up, what do you think it'll be about? I'm not racist, I'm autistic and have trouble ignoring the trends that you so easily ignore. I was really excited for Peele to make horror movies, I didn't put any stock in the articles I was reading about him slandering white people and outright refusing to hire them and other racist/bigoted practices and boy did I eat shit when he rolled out one after another of absolute dreck. But it couldn't just be dreck, it had to have a metric ton of race baiting on the side.

B-but s-stop noticing things incel chud!!? FACT.

She has goofy facial expressions, and she, and the elves in the show in general, do not act like elves. The LOTR trilogy did elves better. In the trilogy, they came off as different from humans, patient, mature, and most importantly ethereal. Cate Blanchett as Galadriel is the perfect elf, she turned into a psycho only when the ring was trying to corrupt her. Put nu-Galadriel in the LOTR trilogy with acting directions from PJ and she would be much better. Like I said, she has the looks of an elf.

The numenorians just show up at exactly the right time and place despite never getting told where the orcs are attacking.

They make mt.doom by pouring some water into an open lava pit.

Galadriel spent 1000 years tracking sauron and never visited numenor or turned the map to notice its the southland.

                >Galadriel spent 1000 years tracking sauron and never visited numenor or turned the map to notice its the southland.
Numenor had stopped all relationships with elves for and was pursuing an isolationist policy after the alliance by many years. By that point Galadriel still believed that Sauron was still in Middle Earth since there were some orcs activities.

                >The numenorians just show up at exactly the right time and place despite never getting told where the orcs are attacking.
They didn't know that sure, but Haldbrand/Sauron probably was leading them probably close to where he knew the orcs and Adar were hiding last time. Not that big of an issue, even in the old Jackson movies there's that bit were Gandalf saves the day by coming at the right time with the army when Aragorn and co. are on the brink of defeat

Gandalf got the Rohirrim to goto helms deep because he knows king theoden will retreat there and he accurately timed how long his journey to gather them would be. Halbrand is never shown leading nor do you address my other post full of bad writing. Water being poured into an open lava pit would not suddenly create a giant volcano, if anything it would make a big steam cloud.

Do you remember when they went to the elf tower for defense and to survive but all the villagers forgot to bring any sheep or food to eat while there and all they had was 3 moldy potatoes? Does that seem sorta stupid to you?

You have some form of loose "argument" for the first three points but you absolutely cannot defend his last and I'm not sure why you even tried.
So you're telling me they didn't know for sure that orcs were attacking some backwater village that for some stupid fricking reason was drawn on the very old maps of the southlands they had, but they did a cavalry charge through the night to reach it JUST IN TIME to stop an attack they had no idea was occurring?
None of this was explained in the show and you're creating absolutely moronic headcanon to justify it. Comparing it to gandalf at helm's deep shows what a complete brainlet you are.

The fight in the village left some isolated fire happens, it's not too far fetched to think that Galadriel might have seen the smoke of burnt remains coming out of the village the in the morning with her elf eyesight and alerted the rest to prepare a cavalry assault cause orcs.

Also the volcano is a non issue, if you still cling to that you're the real brainlet.

These fantasy shows are propped up on the shoulders of nerdy men. They form the core viewerbase, consumer base, and beating heart of the fanbase and everyone else are casual coattailers and bystanders who join in due to this energy. If that energy isn't there, there is nothing to sustain it. This is a shitty pastiche corporate abortion of a show that misses everything that made the original trilogy special. Everyone knows it's fake and pushing a revisionist agenda and that kills spirit and interest from the nerdy male core.

This is exactly it. Games Workshop has been doing the same shit for a while too. They're disregarding their traditionally rapid and loyal fan base to try and spread their target audience farther afield and attract people who honestly don't give a shit about the nearly 40 years of history people have with their products.
They're catering to people who just want to point to something in a traditionally white male space and say "oh look, it's so inclusive!" on Twitter and then immediately forget about it. It's a short-term marketing strategy that ultimately destroys a smaller but more deep fan base in favor of courting people with more opinions than money to spend on their products.

That's even worse news than if Lawd of Dem Rangz was a success. The Boys is goyslop in its most concentrated form. It has a gay sex scene where one gay shrinks down small enough to enter the wiener of the other gay. Then the tiny gay sneezes and reverts back to normal size while still inside the wiener, killing his gay lover in an explosion of blood and human entrails. This is supposed to be interpreted as funny. And normalgays enjoy this?

The story of the second age isn't that complicated:
      >Numenor creation and expansion
      >Elven kingdom of Eregion created alongside dwarvish Khazad-dum
      >Sauron tricks the elves and creates the rings
      >Creation of the one ring
      >Sauron attacks and destroys Eregion to get the rings
      >Elron creates Rivendell with the elvish refugees
      >Sauron distributes the rings to Men (creation of the Nazgul) and Dwarves (who become greedy and isolationists)
      >Numenor creates colonies on Middle Earth
      >Numenor become jealous of the Elves and the dark numenoreans faction is created
      >Sauron baits Numenor and lets himself captured
      >Sauron manipulates Numenor into invading Valinor
      >Eru (swt) effortlessly traps the army in amountain, sinks Numenor and turn the world from a disk to sphere (yes)
      >The good numenoreans who survived the fall of Valyria create Arnor and Gondor
      >Sauron survives thanks to the ring but under his monstruous form
      >Full war between the 2 kingdoms + elves against Mordor + swarthy men
      >Sauron has his finger cut and collapses
      >"no" "ISILDUR!!!"

You're omitting the part that Numenor was so powerful, that they slapped Sauron back to Mordor when he had the ring. A feat that was repeated by the last alliance after years of warfare and a murderous siege if barad-dûr.

The dialogue is awful tryhard attempt to sound old timey from people who clearly do not read or enjoy old timey styled stuff. Its like an amateur aproximation of what LotR should sound like. The actual storytelling is awful, ten subplots progressing per episode and none of them have satisfying conclusions or meaningful events happening so essentially each episode has no story. Lastly, the individual plot lines are just moronic, only so many ways to say that without repeating.

Wokeslop gets funded by ESG scoring. Money for ESG scoring comes from places like Black Rock. Black Rock gets kickbacks from the government. The government, in turn, is funded by our tax dollars, which they take from us without us having any control over it.

Genuine question to lore nerds: do Elf men frick and have children with human women or do only human men have sex with elf women?

      Yes

As weird as this sounds, Tolkien only had human men dick elven maids. He wrote nothing about elven guys dicking himan women.
But to answer your question: elven guys probably fricked human women, but coupling between races was so rare due to totally differen societies and lifespans, that those few that happened were written about.

Didn't they mention early on that there had been only two elf/human relationships in history, and they both ended terribly?
I think it was Arondir's squadmate who said it.

Rings of Power is doing fine. It's top 15. Meanwhile no disney+ shows are anywhere to be seen.

What a fricking joke, and there's those that had free trials of Prime that did not watch this abomination taking that into account it's even worse.

What kind of moronic metric is that?
Of course shows with multiple seasons will get boosted up the list.
You homosexuals spent an entire thread arguing over that? Kek

          >What kind of moronic metric is that?
A metric that will show you that a series with a single season, roughly the same runtime, that came out 3 months after rangs, is doing twice better despite having a budget that is 930 million dollars smaller. And to shareholders it's the only thing that matters.

Wow thanks for the newsflash homosexual, I'll be sure to remember that one. The rest of the world isn't as obsessed with your goblinoids though, and that's all it accounts for

In America at least, didn't even make the top10 most streamed shows of 2022 in the UK. Go beat by Stranger Things, Bridgerton, The Crown, ROP and even Obi Wan

HOTD didn't even feature in any of the end year viewership lists for the US, UK, Japan or any other 1st world country actually.
Only place it managed to feature (and top the charts) was India

        >you know there's a lot more men in India than women right?
And they were all watching HOTD, #1 most watched show in India for 2022. Didn't even make the top 10 in the UK (ROP was #5 though).

I've watched the first two episodes of RoP and none of the rest. Stranger Things is super popular but I've literally never heard anyone mention After Life ever. Or Obi Wan but understand why there's popularity.

That's because most people here watch it on Sky and not through a streaming service.

This isn't the 90s, people watch via streaming services. Even in the US only 6.5% watched HOTD via HBO broadcast, almost all is done through streaming now .

If you pay for Sky TV, like 90% of all boomers, you're not going to pay for a NOWTV subscription to watch stuff already on Sky.

I think your are about a decade behind the times pal.
Anyway HOTD popularity decreases with age, boomer (males) are the least likely to watch some breasts and Dragons spinoff featuring a bunch of made for TV meme actors. zoomer and women are the target audiences, so will be almost entirely via steaming.

I'm shocked HotD didn't make top 10 here but I don't hear much GoT chatter anymore and I didn't think HotD was very good personally. I guess Sky is wanting in popularity
