Lord Of The Rings' Gollum Prequel

>Andy Serkis returns to direct and star in The Hunt for Gollum, focusing on Gollum's perspective in a new Lord of the Rings movie.
>The film will occur early on in the events of The Fellowship of the Ring and could feature Lee Pace's Thranduil from The Hobbit movies.
>Thranduil was busy defending Mirkwood from Sauron's forces during the events of The Lord of the Rings, not mentioned in Peter Jackson's trilogy.

The assrape of the books continue... there's a small part of me that wishes the movies never even existed, at least we would be spared of endless & soulless shit like this.

Honestly I like having a yardstick to measure the sheer fricking state on the industry.
The adaptions of Tolkien’s work are a great way to instantly compare how every aspect of filmmaking in general has got worse since the first trilogy’s release. I foresee that this new monstrosity will show indications of an industry that grasps mistakes have been made, but has no idea how to repair them or even what they are

There's some cool stuff for them to work with.
Gollum coming out of the mountain and following the trail of Bilbo.
Finding the lake town and terrorizing the area, sneaking into houses and eating babies.
Being hunted and eventually captured by Gandalf and Aragorn.
Left with the elves in Mirkwood, imprisoned but they felt bad for him and would let him out to climb a big tree he liked.
One day he refused to come down, mysteriously the same day a troop of orcs marched through the forest.
Gollum escapes in the confusion, he gets captured at some point and taken to Mordor where he meets Sauron in person.

But it will be even heavier on the terrible fanfiction than the second and third Hobbit movies.

This can be a Aragorn and Legolas buddycop film. But who will they cast?

Lets say you can deage Bloom but Mortensen? He is old and it would make the budget bigger than Infiana Jones 5.

I wouldve said to cast Charlie Vickers as Aragorn and color his hair but he might not be allowed because he is playing Sauron in RoP.

Timothee Chalamet as Aragorn and Austin Butler as Legolas

Viggo might be easier because Aragorn is supposed to look weather worn.
I don't think Viggo would return, but I bet Orlando would.

That's possible. I feel like Viggo still has some Vigor left. I mostly spoke to the deaging being easier for him tho. He won't do the movie regardless

Gollum serves as a cautionary tale for Frodo and in general shows what the ring can do to people, enslaving them and wearing them away to almost nothing

Ok, you summed it up in a single sentence. We don't need it to be drawn out by Jackson ad infinitum, that's what went wrong with the Hobbit movies.

and yet due to his comedic nature and silly lines serves as the comedic relief. He is the Jos Whedon dream. Make it mordor, make it dark, but for the love of God make gollum sing a silly song about fishies and rabitses

I don’t think anyone hates him (he’s still one of the best parts of the films), but for some reason the entertainment industry keeps trying to make things centered around him and it doesn’t work.

Gollum's a good character but he's absolutely terrible as the main lead, it's like making Patrick the star of his own show when he's supposed to be the dumb sidekick to Spongebob.

I really don’t care for more Gollum it’s just too much. He works in LOTR and fills his role well. I still dislike any scenes with him in them. Even if I expected this film to be good I wouldn’t want to go and see it. Gollum is not a compelling main character.

LOTR is going the Star Wars route with filmmakers strip-mining the lore to create "content."
The story of Beren and Luthien might make for a good movie but it was basically already done with Aragorn and Arwen, so there'd be no point even to that.
