Kino 90s smog. You dont get that anymore.

True. I’m from LA. My parents are too. When they were growing up, the smog was so bad that you’d occasionally have chest pain just from being outside too long. I was born in 1996 so I didn’t have to experience that. It sure looks badass, though.

      What city?

Also all the hip cities you see in old movies don't even exist anymore. Los Angeles in the 90s is nothing like it is today. That's why I have such strong nostalgia when playing something like GTA San Andreas. GTAV is basically the r result with a lot of those old 1930s-1950s buildings demolished to make room for condos and Starbucks.

Los Angeles and most California cities started out as Spanish colonies. There are families with Spanish surnames that have been there for over 10 generations or about 250 years. And there are families in Santa Fe and El Paso with Spanish surnames that have been there for around 20 generations or close to 400 years. There are also gulf coast cities from Mississippi to Florida that were originally settled by the Spanish and you have rednecks that are their descendants who have Spanish surnames. These people aren't even Mexican, since their communities pre-date Mexico and even the concept of Mexico by hundreds of years.

The Native Americans really didnt have much as far as border control or requirements for immigration. So when the third world pilgrims showed up, there was no one to turn them away. Once the word was out, people from all sorts of third world countries like the Irish or the Italians came in droves. After that, it was too late, America itself became a shithole third world country. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

When America opened up the floodgates and let all us Italians in, what do you think they were doing it for? 'Cause they were trying to save us from poverty? No, they did it because they needed us. They needed us to build their cities and dig their subways, and to make them richer. The Carnegies and The Rockerfellers: they needed worker bees and there we were. But some of us didn't want to swarm around their hive and lose who we were. We wanted to stay Italian and preserve the things that meant something to us: honor and family and loyalty... and some of us wanted a piece of the action. Now we weren't educated like the Americans, but we had the BALLS to take what we wanted! And those other folks, those other... the, the JP Morgans, they were crooks and killers too, but that was the business right? The American Way.

Carson is huge, so there are some grim areas, but also decent ones. Basically all the people that had enough money to ditch Compton moved there. I went to school in Downey. >Basically all the people that had enough money to ditch Compton moved there

Okay I guess it makes sense why I had that weird feeling driving there. I live in Laverne now so I'm far away from the craziness

I was actually an actor in LA in the Nineties and am an extra in this. It is the most Nineties/Gen X LA film ever. I watch it probably once a month and have for decades. It hits everything pitch perfect, what the industry was like, what the city was like, every single note rings true.

God, I miss that time in my life so much.

Any good stories? That sounds based. I lived in West Hollywood in the early 2010s pursuing a failed music career. But wouldn't change a thing. Got to party, fool around and it was funny seeing people I recognized from TV randomly show up at a friend's house when they had a get together. That friend of a friend is an actor thing is true. Most of the famous people I saw would basically just show up for free drugs. Kek.

You can tell that this thread is full of kids as everyone knows LA was already ruined by the mid-80s at the latest
