While I've no doubt he approved of every sentence of it, TLJ was a pretty clear mandate movie rather than any sort of creative vision. It reflects his character given he white knights it beyond any reasonable professional obligation, but not his ability.
The fact the script saw no peer review or revision beyond copy edits is pathetically transparent. You couldn't salvage the script into something worth watching without throwing it in the bin and starting over, but there's a boatload of issues that could have been improved significantly without changing it.

When was the last time you watched the prequels? Serious question. I hadn't seen them in 20 years and finally got sick of seeing all the bullshit surrounding them so rewatched them just to confirm my memory. (My memory is that they were just okay.)
