It's a horrible idea and I hate that all beloved action IPs are being turned into shitty dramas. Compared to Raimi's trilogy, this last one had way less webswinging, wall crawling and use of spider sense. If I remember well, Batman also suffered from this

I never said the Raimi trilogy had no drama. I said that the new trilogy (as all new superhero movies) has a very obvious focus on drama while in the past these movies were more action-oriented, and in the case of Spiderman, the Raimi films actually had him use his powers way more than the new trilogy

Mind you I had no hope for this movie at all, I barely laughed at the jokes in the movie, but I could see the vision and it has some form of charm to it, and I honestly think the formula for that movie can be tweaked with alot of different jokes. I'd give it a 4.5/10. The CGI was nowhere near as bad as people were saying, it actually looked pretty good. The opening scene, the hall of gods, and the ending were pretty good but the rest was boring and forgettable. The dialogue was fricking awful, and not because of shitty quips or anything, it was just all really awkward for the most part. God-Butcher was an amazing villain, best part of the film by far. I thought I'd predicted how it was gonna end but it was a bit of a twist and I'd say I liked that. But the atrocious dialogue and so many boring scenes held it down too much for me to give it a full 5/10.

Not that anon but it's not just MCU casuals that's find this shit offputting. Just because Marvel wrote all the spider-totem shit doesn't mean most Spidey fans care about it. I personally pretend it doesn't exist for the most part. I can't imagine why they would think the normies would want an entire movie about various strong spider-women and Peter's parents and the spiritual and meta elements of behind the guy in spider pj's who fights gud and swings around.

I hate it whenever they try to portray peter as destined to become spiderman or a savior, it completely goes against the core concept of his character. Peter was just in the (right/wrong) place at the (right/wrong) time. The point of spiderman is that anybody could be spiderman, not that peter is the chosen one.

I'm unfamiliar with Ezekiel as a character, is he supposed to be an Inheritor or something? Cause the movie description makes him out to be like an Inheritor.

        Anonymous

Ezekiel got an ancient Mexican to cut him in a ritual, which gave him Peter’s spider-powers before Peter ever got them. He used them to become a ceo, somehow. And all of the threats like Shathra and Morlun were actually coming after him, Peter was just mistaken for him because he’s bright and loud. Ezekiel was actually a good guy until he tried to feed Peter to a giant spider to save his own life, but he changed his mind and saved Peter.

It's not a sentence, it's the name of the company like "Imageworks". It's a play on wetworks that means blood is spilled, so Forceworks is like a PG version of that. They were created by Iron Man to be a no-bullshit version of the Avengers like how the modern X-Force was created by Cyclops.

That’s a trick question. Uncle Ben never utters that iconic phrase. It’s said over the comics narration.

Wasn't the whole point of Spider-Man was that this random kid got powers by pure chance, and had to learn how to reconcile being a dorky high schooler, with using his unexpected powers for good? Making him some magical spider "Chosen One" is moronic, and I hope this bombs hard

This stopped being the case the moment you people praised ItS into high heavens and made the message that everyone can be Spider-Man if they believe hard enough and buy all the merch

I thought it was the general premise of all Spider-People? Like, Miles also got his powers by accident, and never actually wanted to be a Spider-Man. Spider-Gwen was just "what if spider bite girl instead of boy?" idk the backstories of the other characters, but I didn't think there was some moronic supernatural element to it

          Anonymous

The premise is that everyone can be Spider-Man which is blatentely shown through the imagery of New Yorkers wearing the mask, Miles feeling inadequite to wear the mantle only to accept it when having had his Uncle Ben moment and Stan Lee talking to the camera that the mask always fits since the audience is made of babies and manchildren. You're basically destinied to become the hero once the Spider bites you. It's not a chain of decisions made by an individual person with particular interests and motivations. It's something in all of us, that's why Spider-Man isn't always Peter Parker in the multiverse mash ups. You could basically replace Spider-Man with Flash, Superman or Green Lantern in ItS and it would make absolutely no difference. Can't be a chosen one when everyone is the chosen one now which sucks just as hard.

Wasn't Mattie Franklin John Byrne's new dicky creation?

I remember Wizard Magazine sperging out when they relaunched Spider-Man back in '98 and the book seemed more focused on Byrne's new Kitty Pryde stand in.

She disappeared almost immediately until popping back in for Spider-Verse type stuff.

      Anonymous

She was the imposter Spider-Man in the early issues of the '98 relaunch, yes. She then became the new Spider-Woman, and got her own book. After it was cancelled, she was subjected to a lot of really awful stuff by other writers who may have had issues with Byrne, before getting killed in a ritual sacrifice during the story where Kraven was resurrected.

    >Knull is the Thanos of Sony's Spider-Man Universe.
    >His first creation is Inheritors who were tasked with hunting down the Spider-Man as he's meant to defeat Knull.
    >Since Parker is Spider-Man in most realities, all attention is on him.
    >This version of Ezekiel is combination of both Ezekiel from comics & Karn.
    >In the movie, Morlun targered Parkers from Cassandra's (Venom's) Universe.
    >Richard Parker died in airplane crash some time before the events of Madame Web.
    >Ben is taking care of Mary and just recently started a relationship with May. Peter's future aunt is not in the film.
    >Mattie Franklin sacrifices herself to help heroes escape at some point in the film.
    >Ezekiel turns his back on Morlun after he breaks Cassandra's spine and starts to drain the life out of her. Because he fell in love with her.
    >Morlun dies.

    Ending.
    >They never refer to the child as "Peter" and there's a reason for that: he's fricking stillborn. And Mary doesn't survive the birth either.
    >Everything seems to be lost, but Cassandra in the hospital meets with Rio Morales, who gave birth to her son Miles on the same day as Mary.
    >Cassandra sees a vision of grown up Miles being bitten by spider, realizing that there's still a chance and Knull made a huge mistake. Ben promises to become friends with Morales family and look after the boy.

    Credits.
    >Mid-Credit Scene goes back to Vulture & Morbius where they talk about getting new people into the team. Kraven is already with them. He comes in with Daily Bugle's newspaper and gives it to Adrian. He asks how old is it and Hunter answers "It's today's issue". It's title is "Spider-Man: Friend or Menace?
Post-Credit Scene shows Venom running in the desert. Eddie is confused about something that they both just recently saw and asks Venom to explain it. He tells Brock that there's no time and they must arrive to New York because "he's coming".

so will tom holland spidey appears in sony universe?
or is it the same case like batwoman and titans where batman are just background character played by different actor from the main ones

        Anonymous

        >so will tom holland spidey appears in sony universe?
Unless Marvel & Sony figure something out, he wouldn't. Part of their current deal is that Tom's Peter remains with Marvel while Sony gets to have Miles in live action as well. That's part of the reason why Morales got some much attention from Sony in recent years: they were ready for such turn of events in a long time.
As for what it means for MCU's Spider-Man, it's that he's (kind of) fully under Marvel. Sony must still be involved with movies and there's an option to have him in tv series. However, Holland wants a break from the role and Marvel also interested to hide Spidey away from the public until 2024 as Freshmen Year sets up some foundation for College Trilogy that would take place after Secret Wars (Fourth movie was meant to come out early, but that likely wouldn't happen) with MCU getting soft-reboot.
It also means that Marvel can't use characters used by Sony because it would have to be the versions from their Spider-Man Universe. Venom is the exception and traded Vulture and loose connection to MCU for the symbiote.

For now, yeah. Secret Wars will result in a bunch of shit getting mixed in with movie's 616, including some elements of Freshman timeline.

Are the Russo brothers actually not doing Secret Wars, or was that a Fiege misdirect? Also, if they're not, does it have anything to do with that story dropping a while back that the Russo's basically threatened to walk over Fiege wanting to kill off all the original avengers in Endgame?

                Anonymous

No idea. There's really nothing much in regards to Secret Wars currently. Only that some fragments of alternative timelines would merge into the 616 universe by the end of it, setting up the foundation for Spider-Man's new trilogy, Mutants and other shit.
