Chinese, frick
That film failed because it was already on Disney+ before its theatrical run. Worse Pixar movies have made more money.
Probably didn't help that Turning Red was a movie that was essentially relying on being ragebait (already a pretty bad business strategy) to sell tickets and then having the release coincide with the Russian invasion of Ukraine (which literally kicked it off the front-page of every newspaper on the planet).
All-in-all, like Lightyear, it was a movie that didn't really need to exist and either should not have been made or been produced on a vastly lower budget so anything short of being a summer blockbuster wouldn't automatically condemn it being a box office failure.
You Chinese or Japanese?
Minnesotan
Hmong or Vietnamese, then.
Yeah it’s entirely racial bigotry of the audience and nothing to do with one movie being complete dogshit and the other being less so
Not to mention Turning red is an allegory of periods.
Why yes, america is racist, more news at 11
>one is a new IP in the nu-pixar era
>the other is an established IP that's a sequel to one of the most popular Pixar films ever
nice bait
Do kids really give a shit about going through puberty like this or is this for zoomers and memelineals to relive their boring childhoods?
It was mostly adults in the theater showing I went to. Ratio was about 5:1. Only the adults reacting to the jokes too.
You sound underaged. I'm not joking.
>make film about a Japanese girl going through puberty
name
burning ted
Riley isn't a fat grubhubian.
I think my 800m prediction may have been too low
Literally me
Mentally ill
Imagine a GUY saying this. You can imagine the flack he'd get. This chick probably has a nice little army of people ready to defend her with "it was a joke god!"
Still doesn't make the replier not a pedophile.
Yeah of course it doesn't. Not agreeing she ain't. Saying it's ridiculous we live in an age where a woman can make a heavily fricking pedophilic comment and a few people out there are willing to defend that shit just because.
>You can imagine the flack he'd get.
On twitter.
Here he'd be based.
>all of maya hawke’s exs are men
lol. lmao even.
Why do twittergays want cartoon children to be gay so badly?
Validation.
Brainrot. I don't mean the buzzword, I mean their brains are actually rotten from using twitter. That Godforsaken website does things to people, and twists them into contemptible mockeries of humanity.
this is literally the type of shit Cinemaphile e-girlcons would type
the only thing it needs is the "Out of 10!" as a rebuttal
That's because Chinese women grow up and develop personalities and ambitions past high school whereas white women never age mentally past 16 and are obsessed with indulging that side of themselves
>ctrl-F Disney+
>zero results
morons.
Turning Red was given a brief theatrical run this year.
>give it a short theatrical run after thousands of people watched it on disneyplus
>while still available to watch on Disney plus
WHY DID TURNING REDS BOX OFFICE FAIL YOU GUYS
Because Mei is fat, where Riley is athletic. People do not like fat main characters.
Why was he such a simp
because maya hawke is hot, i'd simp for her too
I fricking lost it at his 'I can fix her!' line during the movie
I fricking snorted
imagine someone who does what you do, but pushed to the nth degree
WE GET IT YOU WATCHED SABERSPARK.
Was there a menstruation euphermism in inside out 2?
Yes
The mom says something about memorizing a script when she sees going through puberty. Everything else is just hockey shit.
no, but 911 was mentioned
I found it funny how the movie revealed the Emotion's type
>Joy: Cartoon protagonists
>Disgust: Tumblr sexymen
>Fear: "I can fix her" girls
>Sadness: Big timid guys
Nothing for Anger unfortunately, too mad to be in love. I’d frick Ennui tho, lazy French b***h.
Next movie maybe, though he does have that bag now
>flounders at the box office
It got released on D+ before it hit theatres.
Man. Riley was really cute in this movie. I noticed it way more than the last one. The environments and backgrounds were also improved. The new emotions (Nostalgia, Ennui, Envy, Anxiety, Embarrassment) retconning the 5 core emotions was annoying, but I got used to it. It's a little weird that Hockey had such a major focus, but seeing Riley body slam the DEI characters was great.
Sticc
>anxiety is a good thing!
Since fricking when has this ever been true
>being too happy is actually a bad thing!
didn't you watch the first movie?
>Make a movie a few people want to see
>A few people see it
>Make a movie that a lot of people want to see
>A lot of people see it
IT'S A FRICKING MYSTERY, I'LL TELL YOU WHAT
>A lot of people want to see this movie about a girl with anxiety issues but no one wants to see this other movie about this other girl with anxiety issues
>past friends from Minnesota from first movie are nowhere to be seen
kek.
Turning Red was a better film too on almost every metric.
Looked better visually, had a lot more visual interest and detail in the setting. The human characters looked more appealing design-wise.
Better color design, lighting.
Better score.
Better or more fun acting in terms of the main characters.
A lot of the staging and shots in Turning Red were more interesting too.
Had better action scenes.
Story was better too, it could get obnoxious but was a lot less on-the-nose or bland with its messaging.
It actually feels jarring looking at Turning Red and Inside Out 2 side by side. It just looks like an immediate downgrade. Inside Out 2 feels a lot more safe I guess, so it looks more bland as a result.
It's about a kid trying to get better at hockey, anon.
She's already good at hockey. The movie is just about her trying to make the team.
Let's be honest. Pete Docter's original Inside Out was a much better film. I have no clue why he didn't just direct the sequel.
$295 million opening worldwide and counting.
>inb4 "b-but more money doesn't mean more quality!"
Seethe and sneed
>how do sequels work??
>>make film about a Japanese girl going through puberty
Didn't help that the cgi looked like it was animated in calarts. Ratty ass style deserved to fail.
>japanese
Are you moronic anon?
>Flounders at the box office
There was a fricking PLAGUE. There were no cinemas open the first time, and the second time everyone had already seen it on streaming!
>Japanese girl
i always thought she was chinese
It’s weird seeing a concept like anxiety become a mainstream character sort of thing. I’m not sure how to feel about it. Seeing the kid’s bedtime book say how anxiety starts “spiraling”, the anxiety plushie with the shaking-with-fear feature, etc. It’s strange. I’ve spiraled, I’ve shaken with fear, but it’s nothing I would want to put in a storybook or give a plushie. It’s like they picked me (or anyone with anxiety) up, without permission, and brandished us towards a crowd saying “look, look, look!” Like my inner faults and miswirings have now been shared with the world in a way I don’t like. But this also might just be my paranoia issues talking.
No you're right. It's bizarre seeing anxiety being commoditized like this.
Ah, that’s a word I was looking for. It has been oddly commodified. That’s Di$ney for you.
Are Riley's budding boobies ever acknowledged?
Do you guys think inside out is going to be a world in KH4?
