Based. More people should know when to cash out. Otherwise you end up like Spielberg or Arnold trying to recapture former glory and people start forgetting the great stuff you because you keep putting out shit.

He gets paid good money for doing literally nothing by not giving a frick when the studio says they’re going to pump out a thousand halloween sequels. He then goes around saying they said they’d make those sequels anyway even if he said he didn’t want his name on it, so why not put his name on it as a producer and collect a fat paycheck, then emphasizing he had frick all to do with the movie itself. Very based.

Christine is why Carpenter is the greatest horror director. Took a ridiculous concept of a posses car that kills people and made it suspenseful kino

    >give up forever
brother he retired. He's said if he really felt motivated he'd come back but for now he's cool living a more low key life, focusing on playing his music with his son, finding new hobbies, spending time with family and being creative without the pressure of filmmaking. Seems like a good way to spend your 70s imo

I can’t blame him. Look at Ridley Scott, he started making stinkers in the 21st century too, but rather than cutting his losses and enjoying being a rich old geezer, he decided to destroy his own legacy with worse and worse movies. I’m forced to look at Blade Runner, Alien, and Gladiator and assume they were flukes.

Satan, you know he was one of the the best that ever was in the latter half of the 20C.

    His Apocalypse Trilogy, chef kiss
Big Trouble in Little China? Perfection
Even Kubrick had respect for him.
Plus Carpenter could barely keep his contempt for israelites in check.
Even his stinkers I forgive him considering all the shit the israelite studios did to him.

Escape from New York, yeah, that's my shit right fricking there, pure doomkino
I will drop bodies into the forever box for Mr. Carpenter.
The Thing, I mean frick, we can do his catalogue all fricking day

      Starman
      The Thing
      Big Trouble
      The Ward
      Prince of Darkness

Those are probably my favourite commentaries. He's totally laid back and just shooting the shit with his buddies. The Kurt ones especially are a good time.
