    (Posted in wrong thread earlier)
Working on my webcomic called 'young hoodlum' its an easy e meets bart simpson type character that fricks all the girls and smokes his opps. I'm still trying to decide what setting to use, I'm debating between
    1991ish
-get to use early 90s rap aesthetic, with sega genesis consoles and aerobics instructor fashion
    or the pandemic era
-open playground, I can put masks on unimportant characters etc.

I'm debating whether to use Erika Eleniak (1990 version) or Jessica biel (2001 version) as the model for the girl who gets fricked. What I know for sure, is the story starts out with hoodlum going door to door shoveling know, and ends with him balls deep in a pawg, in an unfinished basement.

Some people are paranoid because wokeness is everywhere these days, and some people false flag on purpose in order to dilute the meaning of the word. Cinemaphile especially is full of false flagging wokies, so never assume authentic intent behind posts like that.

I really dont like how ppl cant have fun anymore without making everything political. I want to do comics so I can escape into a fantasy world where thugs frick 10/10 pawgs and drill their ops, all in an upper class riverdale like suburb, is that too much to ask?

Same. Unfortunately, we're not liable to return to the old ways until Larry Fink finally dies and goes to hell.

              >is that too much to ask?
No, but you'll always get people who don't have any capacity for cognitive empathy, and can't infer intent. All you can do is your own thing.

If it helps, I hate wokeness with a burning passion, and I didn't see any indication that your work was woke.

guy gets it. Interracial relationship are a minority but if you look at the media, every single person is with someone of a different race. Blacks with whites is especially pushed, even though among interracial relationships it's the smallest contingent.

I’m trying to get off my lazy ass and start work on something I’m calling Angel Band, it’s basically splicing my Superman fan fiction and an idea I had for a super hero who didn’t have any sort of paragons of morality in their life (ie Uncle Ben, Ma and Pa Kent, the Wayne’s) and instead grew up with a realistic divorced parents who hated each other. I’m trying to channel all my childhood angst and trauma into a fun super hero comic with themes centering on identity, the afterlife and dealing with death, relationships, parenting, and giant evil robots.

I read somewhere (from Bendis or Brevoort maybe?) that editors and people from Marvel and DC are forbidden from looking at any sorta fan fiction so if there’s any sorta similarity between a published story and fan fiction they’d have deniability. Your best bet is to work on publishing your original idea, get noticed from that, then get your Batman fan fic officially published. It’s the American way.

That's why I said talent scout but I'm sure the big two do not have those.

        [...]
Unless you're from Spain or some LatAm shithole your chances of being hired as an artist in the big two are near zero these days anyway. Way too many foreign artists who will work for cheap and have no ambition so they're happy as a pig in shit to draw nothing but Batman for the rest of their lives.

I'm latino, the issue is how do I get noticed to be a pro.

        >you CAN lower your standards to work for cheap and work for big two.
nope, it's gotten so bad they don't even try to hire locals anymore. just any thirld world moron on twitter making pin ups who aggress to work for page rage equivalent of 2dollars and hour.

Page rates for big two have absolutely gone to shit, no kidding. Only people that get in and aren't third worlders are nepotism hires from x or y clique.

2 dollars an hour is a lot compared to the 1,20 minimum wage I get here.

Latinamerican, then, not "Latino American", you're mistranslating to english. There's a difference. Latinos or Latino americans are the gringos who feel like they're latin just because they're second or third generation and are used to living in the first world. You're being latinamerican means you'll settle for a lesser pay because we're used to living in shit but it's still an improvement over our regular incomes.

every country has it's own take on the word. chicano is the go-to in all the south cone, dunno what colombians and brs use. mexicans have different words for them depending on americanized they are (pocho -> very american, chicano -> very mexican), puerto rico mostly does latino because lol no identity

this recent trends of CHIs pretending they are literally latinos and going "as a mexican" bullshit is just cancer

Your best bet would be to try and find any commercial art studios (like Benes' studio) that deals in commercial art and would have ties to US companies. That's how it works. All the spanish artists working for US companies do so through agents and studios

Now I'm another problem, I do not know any studios or agencies that I can contact and send them my work.
Plus should commit to that fancomic anyway if it won't bring any new attention on me?

                Anonymous

Fancomics can get attention but I wouldn't devote more than 50 pages to it, depending on the style. You can't really sell it for profit but you can get people looking at your work. Marco Rudy, before he went pro, made some DC vs Galactus pages, for example.
Doing fan pages is actually how portfolio reviews used to work; Marvel or DC editors would look at your comic pages to gauge your quality. That doesn't happen as often anymore, but other publishers would be interested to see how you can draw comic pages.

Pretty much this. Going into fandom gets a lot of people looking at your work, and gives you a few ready places to dump your work. You shouldn't let it carry you, and getting caught up in fandom autism is a trap, but it is a resource.

Take it one step further and just make the "batman" in the Batman fancomic enough of an OC and just publish that. I know people who got into My Hero Academia because they considered Allmight's last fight as the coolest Superman fight in decades.

youre kinda conflating some ideas, you CAN lower your standards to work for cheap and work for big two. What youre trying not to say is only third world morons would do it, but we can do that too, youre just saying one would have to be moronic to accept mcdonalds pay for serious artist work. But that option is still available, so the idea that our chances are lower is a falsehood, its just a matter of if you will work for scrap and some people will if you love marvel and dc growing up and can ignore the gay mafia.

Im not trying to argue id just ask for a source. It seems to me the real issue is if youre a passionate artist you want more control of the story and direction of the characters so that is not an option they just want someone who draws. Few people who can draw well and of the speed requiered for professional work want to draw just "whatever" with no input or bearing on anything, only third worlders will. The next thing that eliminates 90% of artists is you cant control any original characters, you have to make them up and they are immediately owned by the company. Most artists want their pet oc to be integrated into the lore so again most artists arent willing to sign them over along with a contract saying they will never see profits or ownership.
But it seems to me nothing is stopping me from trying to get hired if I was willing to accept $2 per page. But youre saying they have a hard coded inhouse rule for only nepitism and any first world country origin disqualifies you, so if such a source exists you could easily show me.
