That always makes me think they sweeten the laughs now because the show stinks now yet the audience laughter is more wild than ever yet in the days the show was actually funny there’s hilarious stuff that gets nothing. Go back to Norms weekend updates lots of his best jokes get nothing from those plebs
that and the South Park memes >Rob Schneider is a hecking stapler!!! HA HA HA
omg epic!! theyre right that guy sucks he'll never be funny like funny cartoon show about talking poo poo and underpants elves hecking epic!!
South Park having so much influence is depressing
So many people I knew would just say shit they heard on South Park even if they didnt understand it
It's low key brainwashing
looking back, Rob was the most based cast member of the Sandler cast. i think he only became a joke after SNL because a lot of his movies were shitte, tho honestly they werent any worse than most of Sandlers who for some reason is still respected today, i guess Uncut Gems restored some audience goodwill after those years of making garbage

I mean let’s be real he had a fricking awful film career.
People have been shitting on him for decades, long before he starting talking about cringy political shit on twitter. He took tons of dumbass roles that were often even more moronic than sandler characters, so it's not surprising. I actually like him and think he's pretty funny most of the time but I'm not going to pretend the hate he gets is just because he's a le right wing social media victim. Real Rob was pretty good but I feel like I'm one of about 10 people at most that even watched it.
why is modern snl so fricking bad? even in the worst years the show still had a few okay sketches every here and there. but now? its just unbelievable how bad it is Chevy Chase put it best
>Chase called modern 'Saturday Night Live': "Worst Fricking Humor in the World Enjoyed by a Generation of Shitheads"
>Chase is a key piece of SNL’s history, whether establishing “Weekend Update” or pioneering the path from Studio 8H to Hollywood stardom. When asked what he thinks of the current show, he doesn’t hold back, delivering a foul-mouthed appraisal that’s as unforgiving as his critics. “First of all, between you and me and a lamppost, jeez, I don’t want to put down Lorne or the cast, but I’ll just say, maybe off the record, I’m amazed that Lorne has gone so low. I had to watch a little of it, and I just couldn’t fricking believe it.”
>He is reminded that SNL is immensely popular, with millions of viewers.
>That means a whole generation of shitheads laughs at the worst fricking humor in the world,” he says. “You know what I mean? How could you dare give that generation worse shit than they already have in their lives? It just drives me nuts.”
>But what about Will Ferrell doing George W. Bush? “Just not funny. Makes $25 million a picture. My shriveled nutsack is funnier than Will Ferrell.”
i dont even think the show has recurring characters anymore because with YouTube everyones seen everything. in those days there was no way to watch shit again if you missed it and they could get away with doing the same character over and over again because half the audiences never seen it before
from Phil Hartman joining till Tina Fey leaving SNL was good.
They had some shit episodes but it was generally pretty decent. the syndicated version was a lot better because it was edited down a lot of shit that didn't work to fit in a shorter run time.
based. i remember Adam McKay says Lorne hated these sketches and the audiences never laughed during them but because Goodman and Baldwin liked doing them every time they'd host that was the only reason they kept getting away with doing them lol
>You know how Brasky served three tours in ‘Nam? >Well, I’m in Corpus Christi on business a month ago, and I had this eight-foot tall Asian waiter.. which made me a little curious, so I asked him his name, and sure enough it’s Ho Tran Brasky!

nu-tv would probably hate the bill braskey sketches and say that it's woke bullshit that makes fun of masculinity
Reminder that no SNL skit has ever been able to be funny for the entire length of the skit
They take a 40 second max premise and just stretch and repeat for 5 minutes and no ending >Shweaty Balls >Night at the Roxburry head bob >Opera Man >More Cowbell >Etc
Even if SNL was a half hour show they'd barely be able to fill it
STEVE!

I hate this bit and I will forever fondly remember them.
rob had a lot of underrated Kaufman style ideas of making the sketches bad and uncomfortable on purpose
https://vimeo.com/148763852
i like the sequel too where they went to Greece in the search for more of DA JOOCE
Hubs is actually really good and they have painted pictures of this sketch on the walls. I’d say it’s like 8/10 gyro plate.
...you lika da hubs huh? hubs in real life is good?
What the frick is the juice they are referring to? You put white sauce on a gyro which isn't a juice it's yogurt.
Gyros actually taste like shit in authentic Greek restaurants and are better at these Americanized places
It's wild how quiet the audience is, . So used to nonstop 15 second laughter.

Sure, but south park is long in the tooth

80's and 90's SNL > Madtv > early 2000's SNL > 70's SNL >getting raped by a white hot peice of metal > modern SNL
accurate
In Living Color would probably go after MAd TV in that ranking too
slight correction
90's SNL > Madtv > early 2000's SNL > 70's SNL > 80s SNL > rest of 2000s snl > getting raped by a white hot peice of metal > modern SNL

SNL just works nice as a gen x show, hippie snl sucked, yuppie snl sucked, millennial and zoomer snl sucks gen x had the right spirit
I love Chevy Chase.
all the iconic characters came from the 90s, can anyone name one SNL character of the last decade?
was going to say Stefon but that character started in 2008
i dont even think the show has recurring characters anymore because with YouTube everyones seen everything. in those days there was no way to watch shit again if you missed it and they could get away with doing the same character over and over again because half the audiences never seen it before
I dont even know who is watching these anymore
Pete Davidson was on SNL for years but there isnt one sketch I ever heard about or character he did that became mainstream

I liked the Bill Brasky sketches.
Bill Brasky is a son of a b***h

The best one is when he dies and the grim reaper comes to pick him up so he starts making nicknames for him.
You like-a da juice??
Nothing was better getting a new Waynes World sketch in the early 90s. It might have been the peak of civilization
OP!

Schneider is a talentless hack.
ROB SCHINER in THE Cinemaphile THREAD
Remember when they did the makin' copies bit with Mike Myers playing David Koresh in Waco?
Choppin broccoli
>SNL will never have anything close to the talent Phil had again
why even bother keeping it on the air at this point?
we will give you the change equal to the amount of money that you want change for

His best role was the guy running the game show in Billy Madison with the filthy prostitute wife
Best Jim Downey commercial parody coming through
are there others?
painfully unfunny like 90% of SNL
