TL;DR
>Movies that gross under $500M at the global box office have been considered flops, including Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
>The Marvels had four weeks of reshoots, director Nia DaCosta apparently left during post-production, test-screenings have been middling, and box office expected to be disappointing.
>Blade has gone through five writers, and Mahershala Ali almost quit due to script issues. At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story. Logan writer Michael Green is currently working on a new draft, and the project has been revamped as a standalone film with a budget of under $100M, and possibly R-rated.
>Jonathan Majors unlikely to continue. Replacing Kang for Doctor Doom has been discussed, but deemed unviable due to several projects already setting up Kang and Marvel not being able to rewrite/reshoot them due to the strikes. They will most likely recast Kang and perhaps limit him to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
>The X-Men and the Fantastic Four are top priorities now that the strikes are over.
>Marvel execs have discussed bringing back Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow for another Avengers film.
>Marvel’s decline has been attributed to the amount of content they needed to produce to prop up Disney+ leading to subpar scripts and visual effects, and spreading Feige too thin to maintain quality control, as well as overinflated budgets due to the studio’s previous successes making it seem like every project would be a hit.
>Replacing Kang for Doctor Doom has been discussed, but deemed unviable due to several projects already setting up Kang
They were really betting everything they had on Kang, huh? You get what you deserve I guess.
>Replacing Kang for Doctor Doom has been discussed, but deemed unviable due to several projects already setting up Kang
Omg just plug a different nigga into the time chair and be done with it. I'm sick and tired of pretending I care about these actors. Just put on the silly hat and say the lines, whore.
You can't use Doom as that would mean nerfing him after Secret Wars.
>So...we wuz no longer kangs?
Doofus here who doesn't pay attention to hollywood shit. They are making garbage. They weren't making garbage at one point.
WTF happened?
1) Normies ruin everything. They just go to the movies because they're told too, so money keeps flowing in
2) They replaced writers with activists
3) They got free PR for being 'brave and bold' by turning... fuck, I dunno, turning Galactus into a trans black bbw
Basically a shitstorm happened
Anon. Normies are the lost audience
Normies were brainwashed by what now this time?
There is a reason of why the first 2 blade movies were great, and why PG 13 killed Trinity and the Warner TV Show
None of this is what actually happened, you're just showing where your own concerns lie.
They went cheap, not just on VFX but everything: they put writers and directors with little experience on D+ projects and if they did okay they gave them the big-budget films. Michael Waldron and Jeff Loveness went from having nothing to everything back down to nothing in the space of like, a year. They are just bad, unengaging movies and normies are bored of them. The people still going every single time are you and me, bro.
How do you explain Bayfomers if not for normies spending money on trash?
Bayformers met the bare minimum for the general audience to enjoy it. Many projects in Phase 4/5 somehow does not.
The first was genuinely good.
No it fucking wasn't.
The rant reviews for Trans 2 2009 were fucking funny though, particulary the amzing atheist's review on it.
2 was better than most of the MCU
Elderly coot Jetfire is unmatched kino
No it fucking wasn't
Bayformers is much, much worse than even the worst of the MCU
Summer action blockbusters tailored to summer action blockbuster crowds that just want to shove popcorn in their faces while watching explosions and hot chicks. How many cool explosions and hot chicks does the post-Endgame MCU have?
Even normies got bored of Bayformers eventually.
Please don't compare Bayformers to MCU shlock ever again.
Bayformers had to be reboot two times, had a spin-off and it still never reached the sale numbers of the first few movies. They got lucky with cool for the time CGI and Megan Fox's tits and ass.
Also, Hasbro has been in full money squeeze mode over their franchises and IPs for years now and they'll keep pumping more and more cheap shit to sell for big prices, just ask the guys in MTG.
Two times?
Wasn't the last beastformers movie a soft reboot or something?
Its a sequel to Bumblebee. And that was the first reboot.
No, the Mark Wahlberg one was the first "reboot", which was a soft reboot, but still. Shut the fuck up, retard, you are splitting hairs here. My point stands that it has been diminishing return since the first movie.
Well ya gotta specify what kind of reboot you mean.
Anyway, Hasbro considers RotB a hit, oddly.
I don't have to explain anything to you, triphomosexual. Here's your last (you), suck on it.
>Hasbro considers RotB a hit
But does Paramount? Hasbro only cares about toy sales at the end of the day.
Good question, they haven't said. They're too busy working on the animated movie, I guess.
Oh wait.
>Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins described the film's performance as "not great, but good" and blamed its financial woes on an increasingly fractured global box office less receptive to American movies—especially in China, the franchise's biggest overseas market, where Rise of the Beasts' gross of $90 million was only half of what Paramount had projected it to earn.
Literally just get Michael Bay to do another one.
Um, no thanks.
As much as I fanboy over the third movie, no thanks. He should have stopped at 3 because AoE had a lot of great ideas that got watered down for china and human protagonist shit. The Last Knight had a lot of good ideas but once again, watered down the interactions between robot characters for human shit. He has a template and it doesn't work long term. Most people are masturbating to this scene, so might as well let Travis Knight handle the franchise for two more movies.
Is that the majority of the movie or just a small slice with the rest being on-Earth junk?
A small slice since the Bumblebee movie was suffering from a severe identity crisis case even nearing its release because Paramount didn't want to reboot the whole Bayverse but they also wanted to distance the movie from The Last Knight's failure to retain both a new audience and its old audience. What we got was a movie that was pretty much "Herbie but it's Bumblebee". Fun, lots of TF fanservice, but ultimately too safe with its only identity being these Cybertron scenes (which in contrast to Bay's vision, is actually more colorful and lively)
That's a shame. That's the type of stuff that interests me in a TF movie. Shit on Earth really bores me.
I read somewhere that there's this weird stigma of execs fearing making a movie without humans (despite humanoid robots with dreams and feelings existing) because they think people (and by that I mean normies) won't relate to them. Anyways, you're better off playing the War for Cybertron games. At least you can actually explore some parts of Cybertron and not worry about Marky Mark and his daughter bickering in the distance.
>I read somewhere that there's this weird stigma of execs fearing making a movie without humans (despite humanoid robots with dreams and feelings existing) because they think people (and by that I mean normies) won't relate to them.
The funny thing is the rise of the self-inserter has seen this viewpoint appear even on Cinemaphile. On /tg/ "playing as nonhumans is freakshit, white human male fighter for me please!"
On Cinemaphile and Cinemaphile "where is the strong white male protagonist? I can't identify with any of these!"
Truly, identity politics and "representation" have ruined a generation
Meanwhile on /a/
>I identify as a cute flat e-boi
They have the reverse problem where if there's no sufficiently twee girl to imagine they are they lose interest. And then they come to Cinemaphile to cry about superior nipongoloid design and how much capeshit sucks when its not pretending to be about pirates or ninjas
It's sadly to be expected with Transformers, almost all of the cartoons open with them on Earth and having human characters intended for the kids watching to identify with. Aside from Beast Wars/Machines in the 90s, it's really just been some of the comics and some of the more recent animation aimed at older viewers that have left out having human characters. Most of the casual fandom is familiar with there being human characters in Transformers, the issue is no matter how many sequels they make, the movies never work up the courage to make the transition from the humans being the main protagonists to relegating them to the sidekick role like in the cartoons.
>On /tg/ "playing as nonhumans is freakshit, white human male fighter for me please!"
Well that's disappointing to hear if it is the popular opinion over there. In retrospect, it's kinda funny to think that most TF fans prefer inserting as a Cybertronian same way its equine sister franchise spawned fans who prefer relating to pastel horses.
>On /tg/ "playing as nonhumans is freakshit, white human male fighter for me please!"
I know I left /tg/ in 2010 and didn't recognize it the times I revisited (flooded with quests, now flooded with pointless generals), but I never thought /tg/ would stop wanting to be the little girl.
Don't worry, there are still Nechronica threads from time to time.
That's just the effect of all those hobbies becoming more and more mainstream alongside old grognard "standards". Fantasy hobbies were meant for people that enjoyed exploring worlds and different stories and the self-inserting was made with people that understood thar characters had roles and should be part of a narrative. The rise on cheap, surface level "roleplaying" just shows how much the average person just can't even imagine experiencing other races, classes, etc beyond the ones they can instantly grasp. Just sad.
>playing as nonhumans is freakshit, white human male fighter for me please!"
That's just annoyance at all the online pushing for either wacky meme builds or blatant fetishbait character.
Contrarianism isn't new to Cinemaphile, but "I will only play literally me and will be personally offended if anyone else does otherwise" is very new. You see it on Cinemaphile with people self-inserting into Marco or Finn and taking any ill that happens or insult that is offered to the character as a slight against their person.
"Oh, character is depicted having sex with someone other than MY character! I'm being cucked! That means you're an NTR fetishist!"
From my experience, they're fine with other races as you long as you fall into the traditional mold (ie. basically legaly distinct LotR).
And I think the NTR annoyance mostly comes from NTRposters shitting up threads once in a while.
Well we can certainly agree NTRfags suck.
My favorite character of all time is a black cartoon hedgehog and I'm your standard glasses wearing brown haired white man.
>Lion King works without humans
>Land Before Time works without humans
>Bugs Life works without humans (that I can remember)
>Cars
>Watership Down
>Secret of NIMH
>Zootopia
But not seeing humans in the giant talking robot movie? No! people go to giant robot movies for the humans
The common ground these movies have is they are marketed to and seen as movies for children, such is the fate of most movies with animation in the west. The live action TF movies are considered by paramount to be an all-ages series because they believe adults would scoff at the idea of a TF movie without important humans or product placement vehicles they can transform into. I'll be glad to see them be proven wrong with Transformers 01 but I don't have a lot of faith in that movie apart from the fact that ILM is involved, meaning it's either like the Cybertron slices of Bumblebee OR it'll be a Rango-esque animated movie.
Shockwave is fucking cool
Bay's designs and action work well for live action movies. The new designs look too blocky. Bumblebee has good writing from what I've heard.
>Bay's designs work well for live action movies.
But they don't? Who could tell shit from what was going on in the fight scenes? Whereas the Cybertron scene in Bumblebee with the classic designs fucking sold the movie.
>Whereas the Cybertron scene in Bumblebee with the classic designs fucking sold the movie.
It didn't through.
Did too
No, it sold because Bay made Bee a big name.
And even then, it didn't do all that well compared to the first 3.
Lots of people came back for it because it wasn't Bayformers all THAT much anymore.
>just ask the guys in MTG.
I got out at... innstirad? The nightmare fairytail one with kithkin.
What happened to mtg?
Basically picrel, plus ridiculous power creep; Tarmagoyf doesn't make a "top 10 best cheap creatures" list anymore. They also split boosters into draft/"set" boosters and raised prices, and are now switching back to the old single type of booster and raising prices.
MTG Universes Beyond Seinfeld would be awesome, especially compared to Dr Who and Fallout
What a shame.
>Rampamt powercreep
>Tons of LGBT/colored characters that have the character depth of a puddle and nobody cares about.
>MCU-esque storyline that literally ended with the people of Zhafir, that are now a Wakanda expy beating the evil army
>CROSSOVERS. Half of the new products are crossover shit, from 40k to Doctor Who. The next big crossover set will be with Fallout, not Elder Scrolls, Fallout, a series that has 0% fantasy aspects.
>TONS AND TONS OF PRODUCTS. Literall every new set now has threw different booster types, plus commander decks. Jumpstart sets, limited release "Secret Lair" cards. Nobody can keep up with what's being released anymore, not even MTG youtubers.
Hasbro is squeezing MTG's tits so hard, blood is bound to come out sooner or later.
>CROSSOVERS. Half of the new products are crossover shit, from 40k to Doctor Who. The next big crossover set will be with Fallout, not Elder Scrolls, Fallout, a series that has 0% fantasy aspects.
...Fantasy 40k?
Who looks at Fallout and Doctor Who and says "my, I wish I had a mtg card of that"?
Just going back to it again, what the fuck would be a blue creature in fallout?
Enchantments can't exist.
Everything's an artifact.
I could see white humans, green...fuck... deathclaws? red...?, black ghouls.
Supermutants would be white-green?
Or would anything tinged by radiation go to black so Deathclaws and Supermutants would be black/green and black/white?
The super science stuff
No, Warhammer, space marines 40k, which to be fair, has enough "magical" bs with warp and chaos stuff.
>Who looks at Fallout and Doctor Who and says "my, I wish I had a mtg card of that"?
Apparently tons of people on MTG team love Dr. Who and were "hyped" to work on cards for the show. Fallout most likely it's just because "POPULAR THING GOOD" like when they made those walking dead cards.
https://scryfall.com/sets/pip?order=set&as=grid
You can take a look at some of the cards spoiled so far. Notice the shitty custom frame for the "fallout aesthetic"
>walking dead cards.
Why?
They wanted to make zombies of every mana colour? Where do the silent-ambush stealth zombies go?
>has enough "magical" bs with warp and chaos stuff.
Sure, but you're still bringing bolters against elves with bows.
>Why?
MONEYMONEYMONEY. The walking dead cards were a major sales success and opened the floodgates for all this new crossover BS. Also, the cards they released were humans and an equipment (Lucille).
>Sure, but you're still bringing bolters against elves with bows.
They already gave up on "guns aren't allowed" in MTG stuff. One of the upcoming sets will take place in a Wild West setting.
The MAINLINE SET Marvel crossover, yes.
. Half of the new products are crossover shit, from 40k to Doctor Who. The next big crossover set will be with Fallout, not Elder Scrolls, Fallout, a series that has 0% fantasy aspects.
Don't forget the Marvel one they announced
Hasbro isn't touching TES because it is too "complicated" for their brains
Which is super funny because unless you delve into the Kirkbride shit which isn't even in the games, TES is way more basic than MTG or d&d
ESO is canon and made all of kirkbride and community stuff "canon" as the mere concept of timelines with a twist, and that alone stalled the idea.
Also they can't mess up with Warcraft due to hearthstone fags.
Oh I know it's canon, but nobody who'd buy the cards cares about that shit. They'd just want their RUG dragonborn who can tap to thu'um fools and would be entirely satisfied with cards that don't break the surface level of the series.
Warcraft is fagshit and I'm glad it's never ever
>Hearthstone fags
Hearthstone is its own continuity unless the main game makes it canon. Simple.
>release a LotR themed deck
>blackwash a bunch of characters for brownie points
Really?
I thought Tolkien's estate guarded the IP better than that...
Oh wait, Rings of Power happened, didn't it?
YUP... that's the name of the game now.
Even the Hobbit movies shouldn't have sucked as badly as they did.
Unironically the Chinese market, which is why there was that stretch all of Hollywood tried to chase and pander to that market. It has since changed as a dynamic.
Good.
Bayformers was lino
Fuck you
Bayformers was kino
Fuck you
This is a joke, right? Or are we so far removed from the movies that the children who saw the movies have now discovered Cinemaphile?
Bayformers was pino
Fuck you
For one thing when Bayformers was at its peak popularity they put out one movie every couple of years, and not a minimum of 3 movies plus 4 multi-episode series per year. Transformers was easy for the casual viewer to follow, Marvel has become increasingly less so.
The chinese love the fuck out of Transformers and F&F. They've been carrying that shit for more than a decade entirely.
> directors with little experience on D+ projects
The directors haven't been relevant to the product for most of the MCU which is why so many walked out during the early phase. They are just faces, that's why so many of them are women whose only experience is in award bait movies about sexism, racism, israeli issues or LGBT, that's not an exaggeration. The writers and comittee are the same people, the success of Black Panther just made them overestimate the fake social aspect they where selling to other markets, Blade will probably be a success simply because how susceptible the black community is to racial marketing and enough fake hype. But even then that can't sustain an industry, you need to spread out the nagger worship.
Sometimes gambling on niche or smaller writers/directors can pay off, but i'm sure there is probably a lot of executive medling now so even if they are compitent they have to hit the marvel story beats and introduce the breadcrumbs for the next franchise thing and whatever.
>you're just showing where your own concerns lie.
>whaaa you dont like the progressive freak agenda filled messages of nu-disney shit, you are clearly making things up bigot
This but unironically
Would love for you both to break down what makes a compelling film, because that's what the MCU is failing at right now, and the problem is - as many, many others have said here - they're being cheap and spreading themselves too thin, which means they then have to be even cheaper.
That's it. Being cheap means compromised scripting, compromised directing, compromised VFX - all things that are vital to the finished film actually being good.
Whilst the action is all pre-vis, the directors still have to actually direct the actors. Quantumania was the first time I'd seen a Paul Rudd film where I thought, 'oh shit, Paul's kinda fumbling the bag here'. And I definitely never expected to see Michelle Pfieffer phone in a performance. Please explain how either of those things have anything to do with a political agenda?
As someone actually in the industry these threads always crack me up, cos you guys really don't have a fucking clue. That guy saying it's 'the normies fault!' is fucking hilarious, too.
>Marvel films are losing out at the box office because ALL THE NORMIES KEEP WATCHING THEM!
Bro that's not how economics work.
Waldron and Loveness showed utter contempt for the characters, and their approach to storytelling was "because reasons".
Why on Earth you would entrust big projects to people with zero experience?
If these movies aren’t making any money then that means normies aren’t watching them.
Why are you posting in this thread?
>we wuz kangs
Oh, you're a racist jackass.
fuck off you marvelfag. You are part of the problem. Go choke on a funko pop.
Your mom chokes on my funko pop
LOL. If a little meme like that is enough to set you off, I'm going to be able to troll you from here to /n/'s blimptrain and back without even trying.
chill out nigga
sensitive pussy ass bitch nigga you is
Left-wing incels fucked everything up, as usual. That's what happened.
>The X-Men and the Fantastic Four are top priorities now that the strikes are over.
They’re not ever, the actors one is still ongoing and Deadpool 3, an X-Men related project, has been severely delayed due to the strike.
You ain’t seeing shit until they resolve that.
Good, I hope they never end. Let everyone in the Hollywood pyramid scheme go broke. Wouldn't mind some light cannibalism along the way, either.
nobody gives a shit about actors, besides you can start writing the script, read proof it a thousand times, change it another thousand times, and have it done by the time those retards give up and go back to work.
This post is an interesting combination of correctness and preposterous idiocy.
Kang is easy, just recast Jonathan Majors. They've done so much legwork to set him up now, if they backslide or play Kang's importance down they're just signing their own death warrant by essentially having phases 4-6 all be trashbag narratives going nowhere.
>they're just signing their own death warrant by essentially having phases 4-6 all be trashbag narratives going nowhere.
Newsflash, they always were.
Yeah ate they retarded
>recast kang
>the multiverse changed how he looked lol (laugh track)
It is literally that simple
>At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story.
The jokes write themselves.
Whoever thought a PG13 Blade about his daughter deserves to be fired.
Marketing is such recursive fart-sniffing, they have five million excuses for why any failure is someone else's fault, but if something is a success without them then they just go "but it would've been even more of a success if we tailored it!"
>Step one, stop spending double the film's actual budget on marketing.
>Step two, stop it with the race/gender swapping bs
>Step three, marvel films are now profitable
>Bonus round, Don't listen to the marketing department when they tell you they cannot be downsized to 3 guys in a portacabin with an internet connection.
The problem is that marketing suits are always going to be the ones in the ear of company executives the most, because everyone else is busy having real jobs.
Marketing "people" also sell their bodies. Ever met a pharmaceutical sales woman? They are just highly paid whores.
It would have been hilarious after Black Panther 2 lost them whatever goodwill the first one gave them with the Black Community, enmasculating Blade like that would have been the final straw.
>Movies that gross under $500M at the global box office have been considered flops
I hate what the world has become
that gross under $500M at the global box office have been considered flops, including Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
I assume whoever ordered this article wanted to counter the claim in that recent book
Black Widow and Shang-Chi were partially hampered by COVID and theaters were only just starting to open up gradually. If you're one of those people that look at wiki and think "Black Widow got $379.8 million box office on a $288.5 million budget, therefore it made a profit," then you don't know how anything works.
Also initially it seems like Disney is overreacting to box office numbers, until you realize that they've been having people claim estimated budgets were lower than they actually are. Case in point: People assumed Rise of Skywalker's budget was just $275 million up until this year where it was discovered they spent $416 million after the tax credits are factored in. People assumed Age of Ultron's budget was $267-316 for a few years after release until it turned out the budget was $365-444 million.
If the budgets on those Phase 4/5 Marvel films turned out to be a lot higher than people were initially reporting them to be, then it is possible they did lose money on the underperformers.
Anything from the early phases they probably don't consider flops because they had lowered expectations, but once Avengers hit the billion mark then there was far more expectations.
Keep in mind that studios often inflate costs to avoid paying royalties and taxes.
The Rise of Skywalker budget got confirmed on UK financial statements. Studios may do other kinds of math to avoid paying royalties or to qualify for more tax credits, but they still only managed to get it down to $416 million (the pre-tax amount they reported was $503 million)
>half a billion dollars to make one shitty movie
Complete insanity, the entertainment industry is unsustainable
Black Widow was also released on D+ while in theaters. Scarjo literally sued Disney over the issues they had with it's release. They fucked that movie. Budgets for films are inflated though. When you have a Disney parent company and you look at advertising. Think about it, how does a trailer for Age of Ultron airing on ABC cost disney money? It still comes from the marvel studios budget but it goes to ABC, which then in turn goes back to Disney. People trying to declare flops really don't get what a scam hollywood is. The companies themselves often don't even actually know what a hit is till years later.
While that is partly true what you mention about advertising would be part of the marketing budget, not the production budget
>a movie needs 3 trillion just to break even
Wrong board
I accept your concession once again
Turns out making everything an investment requiring infinite growth to be considered successful is bad because resources are finite.
Told ya'.
Why didn't he just double the good movies?
Double zero is still zero, anon. Maybe he even halved the bad movies.
Didn't they already show that multiverses are in full play and other versions of characters can look different (ex: Peter Parkers)
Why not just recast Kang?
Hell, make Kang a pregnant asian woman.
They showed already that they all look like him. Even showing Rama Tut, Scarlet Centurion, and the other one. So no it's not that easy. Also he's a shitty actor and his story sucks so they should just wrap it up and move onto Doom. Enough is enough
It is easy. Recasts were a regular thing back in the day. Why is it such an issue NOW?
Because character+actor is a complete package now in franchises. Well, it was for a long time now.
People don't go to movies for [actor_name], nor do they go for [character_name], they go for [actor_name] playing [character_name].
I really doubt Kang had the popularity to make that a concern.
>Kang is easy, just recast
I dunno dude, it's not like the character's supposed to wear a mask most of the time...
>The Marvels had four weeks of reshoots, director Nia DaCosta apparently left during post-production, test-screenings have been middling, and box office expected to be disappointing.
Looks like the era of feminazi garbage is finally over
It's fun imagining ways to fix this mess.
>Jonathan Majors is recast
>scrap any projects not currently in production
>use F4 film to set up Doom and make incursions a major concern
>Tie up loose ends like Sharon Carter as fast as possible by having her working for the Latverian government smuggling reality-warping tech from various hi-stakes players, including mothballed Avengers sites. The mystical object plotline that seems to be going nowhere is resolved here, with Banner etc forming a pseudo-Illuminati to stop the incursions using the objects in a similar manner to the Infinity Stones in Secret Avengers. They fail, some of the objects are destroyed in the process. Some run-ins with Kang variants to keep that ticking in the foreground.
>Thunderbolts are a puppet team unknowingly running interference for Val so she can get shit sorted for her superior, Doom.
>Kang Dynasty plays out exactly like Time Runs Out but Kang + variants fulfill the Beyonders' role. Heroes fail, Doom was in the b/g all along making Battleworld
>Secret Wars is an actual Secret Wars event with Doom as the god-villain
Dark Avengers.
The baddies take control over of the world, to the rapturous applause of normies by saying progressive bullshit while continuing to be evil as fuck. The heroes are shunned by the Dark Avengers misrepresenting them as bigots.
So Doom will be a one and done villain, then?
And then be a hero in every major crossover while grumbling about it.
>At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story.
Kevin Feige is a hack, why did people worship him?
PR smoke and mirrors. The window of time between him actually taking full control from the creative council and Endgame happening is actually quite small, I think we might have had more bad Feige than 'good' Feige at this point. In no way saying that the creative council were a good thing, but his myth is a fiction for sure.
He had a string of successes under his watch. And at the time if people looked at that (and didn't know the behind-the-scenes) and looked at the Creative Committee (which had Bendis and Joe Quesada on it), most people reading comics or watching the movies would choose Feige's side.
Civil War's production was when Feige got Disney to push the Creative Committee aside, so I think everything from Doctor Strange to Endgame was on Feige and people still liked it for the most part, even if there were people who were complaining about Captain Marvel or the assemblage of all the heroines together in one segment.
Phase 4 is when things went really off the rails and it's hard to tell how much of that is on him and how much of that is on bad decisions by Disney (ie demanding more Marvel TV shows for Disney+)
Only difference between Feige and Ike is who they wanted to push.
Left-wing cucks will worship anyone who makes one decent movie
Feige being spread razor-thin got us shit like She-Hulk and Captain Marvel/Ms Marvel twisting in the wind without a concrete ideal of what they're meant to be.
I mean, he clearly rejected that in the end. It does make you wonder how he got so bad about choosing talent though.
people who like to post live action on Cinemaphile worship disney cinematic universe. They are not real people they just like to parrtoing on twitter about " I AM PUTTING TOGETHER A TEAM" and bosnia hezergovina will return in avengers: yugoslavia since 2013
You mean shills?
>At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story.
In a Blade movie.
How stupid does a process have to be to get to this point?
Blades Mom and paternal Grandma and love interest having large roles?
really fucking stupid. i wonder if she'd be gay too
TLDR: People don't like MCU movies anymore because the movies are bad. If Marvel stops making bad movies people will like them again but Marvel is not considering that option.
All the original guys are gone and nobody cares about the legacy characters.
There's no singular story Marvel movies anymore, all of them require you to buy something first to follow along. It's late me when you go to a thrift store and see a box for an expansion pack to WoW or Sims;Without the main game, they're useless. I'm glad I quit after the first Avengers movie.
>If Marvel stops making bad movies people will like them again but Marvel is not considering that option.
Too real
>At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story.
Are you fucking shitting me???
Blade 1's opening still is among the greatest action scenes of all time and they reduced the character to fucking THIS???
>Desperate retcons and bringing back things people liked before to save a dying brand
Huh. The MCU was comic accurate afterall
I unironically think next time the Avengers should be assembled by Loki.
That's a good idea and basically is set up with no Fury and almost-a-good-guy Loki
But Loki is gay...
Loki is omnisexual, Sleipnir Odin's 8 legged horse is Lokis kid from the time he turned himself into a female horse and got himself pregnant.
Loki wasn't attracted to Sleipnir. It was the zoophilic equivalent of 'prison gay.'
>Loki wasn't attracted to Sleipnir.
As the previous anon said: Sleipnir is Loki's child. Your thinking of the giant's stallion Svadilfari
Oh, fuck, you're right. I misspoke. Hopefully the point still stands.
Loki was forced to stop the giant from building a wall too quickly, but it seems the solution being to seduce the giant's horse was all Loki's idea.
IIRC Loki's plan was just to lure the giant's horse away, and didn't anticipate the horse actually catching up to him and mounting him.
It' unclear at least in the prose edda. It says that he lures the horse away by turning into a female horse and getting it to chase him. And if I remember right, the next thing it says is that that is how Odin's horse was born.
Sleipnir is Lokis son, Loki turned himself into a girl horse and got preggers with a mutant horse baby.
For himself, maybe.
RDJ was nominated for a big award before he fell into drugs, but also didn't assault his girlfriend. There's the sticking part.
After Loki’s run in his series (which I’ve liked better than all the D+ series prior) I could totally see an Avengers tie up at his call to action to resolve an Avengers level threat to the universe. Having them step into the world of the TVA, where power stones are used for trinkets and paperweights, would be very interesting!
Meh, Deadpool 3 will save Marvel.
>Deadpool 3 will save Marvel
It's getting pushed back to December 2024, also I think people are burnt out on multiverse cameos which it seems the entire movie is based around.
We DCEU now
If The Marvels does flop then the next few years will be a long cold winter for Marvel. They have literally nothing good in the pipeline.
People will probably show up for Deadpool 3 and maybe Blade, but I doubt anything else will leave any kind of impact
Why don't they just chin up and bring majors back? It's not like having him is going to make them lose money, frat bros don't give a shit about his "allegations" against him, and the tumblr whales are still going to see the movie. There's no sense in letting him go or retconning him because of some off brand Cosby drama.
RDJ did much worse things in the 90's and everyone still loves him.
Because having a criminal in your movie is only going to make things worse if they refuse to clean up and cause your movies to bomb worse. Just look at WB and them refusing to recast Flash for whatever fucking reason.
The Flash movie had a bazillion problems other than the lead actor.
Yes. But the lead actor was one of the more crippling problems that movie had.
RDJ's crimes happened before social media
RDJ also went to jail
RDJ also showed that he changed and didn't relapse after Iron Man
Those are the key points
RDJ was also a drug addict. The main victim of his crimes was his own self, for everyone else he was at worst a nuisance.
Ask me how I know you've never put up with a serious substance abuser IRL.
There's almost always at least one case of domestic violence and/or unwanted sexual advance among other things. Especially with the kinda hard drugs he was doing
>"oh he PROBABLY beat up and/or raped women I mean the guy's an addict"
Not him but I'm a huge recovering alcoholic myself and you're full of shit.
He also supported Mel Gibson after the latter /misc/'ed out.
>"assaulted"
his lawyer literally submitted a piece of evidence proving that he was innocent and the judge threw it out without even examining it.
Hi, Mr. Major's lawyer. Tell your client we think he's ZESTY and FRUITY.
The issue is not only Majors, but also that Ant-Man 3's general reception are making them reconsider Kang as the main villain, since that was supposed to sell him to the audiences.
Remember they, including Kevin, looked at and thought Quantmania was be a blockbuster.
With dollar store Modok and all.
Thank fuck. They were about to repeat Blade Trinity's mistake by bringing in an ensemble cast when nobody asked for it.
They just need a new cast, period. They fucked up when the old guard tried to keep the AoS/Netflix characters separate. It got worse in the post-Endgame years when they recast Sharon Carter as a villain, audibly rewrote Dr Strange out of WandaVision, stubbornly refused to recast T'challa, and weren't able to provide some semblance of quality control for the rest of their projects in theaters and Disney+.
>The X-Men and the Fantastic Four are top priorities now that the strikes are over.
Fantastic 4 can probably hit that Disney mark. X-Men might have it easy seeing as they can poach characters from FoX-Men/Deadpool 3.
>Marvel execs have discussed bringing back Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow for another Avengers film.
Why though? Maybe a better sendoff for Nat, but Tony died a hero of Earth. We don't need another RDJ movie. Just let the guy enjoy his career.
IMO, they should just spin-off Star Wars and Marvel back to Fox to give them their edgyness back. They're investing way too much just to market R-rated Disney films to people who don't want and didn't ask for them.
>X-Men might have it easy seeing as they can poach characters from FoX-Men/Deadpool 3.
Who actually wants to see the same actors we've already seen? I thought the whole point of wanting the X-Men in the MCU was so they could cast new younger actors and have them act across from the Avengers. The fact is that it already feels too late because all the main Avengers have left.
>Who actually wants to see the same actors we've already seen?
People will want to see Evan Peters as Quicksilver one last time and not as Agatha's husband in a one-off. The only other excuse is Deadpool bringing in Jackman for one final outing as Wolverine.
>The only other excuse is Deadpool bringing in Jackman for one final outing as Wolverine.
He already had the perfect swan song, now it's just a farce.
>Jackman and Reynolds
>It's not a romantic comedy
>It's not a buddy cop movie with wolverine X days from retirement
Why even try.
Literally should’ve played him being a displaced Fox Quicksilver straight. Would’ve tied in perfectly with the multiverse stuff they were doing. But no, these dumbasses just had to be subversive instead of doing the thing that everyone wants.
They could have had her use her magic to bring her brother back but, being inexperienced, she ripped him from another universe instead.
It writes itself, what were they thinking?
>what were they thinking?
To make a show about Wanda and Vision, not multiverse garbage nor about inserting mutants into the MCU. And they were right.
It's been more than two years of non-stop seething from you people. A fandom who've always been well-catered to and always get what they want didn't get something they wanted just one time and can't handle it at all.
>People will want to see Evan Peters as Quicksilver one last time
Why are you pretending this guy was a big draw? He was a non-character, people just liked the slow-motion effects scene then they just repeated the whole thing in another movie.
Literally just that, the slow-motion effects that looked better than the MCU version and was miles better than what the Flash movie ever did.
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen won't live forever, as much as I love them, they can't do another 10+ years of x-men movies. Marsden is just fine as Cyclops but again, at 50 are we gonna keep seeing him do it? I'm all for the fan service movie of a crossing over fox stuff, sony stuff and disney and having all that happen, but I think Id rather see new x-men. And if you don't do it like spider-man, as in, introduce and establish the new kid first, it's gonna feel weird to do it backwards.
>Marsden is just fine as Cyclops but again, at 50 are we gonna keep seeing him do it?
He was still ridiculously handsome in those Sonic movies. Seriously, in a better timeline, he would have been a leading man in a long running series all this time. Maybe he can be tapped to replace Armie Hammer in whatever role he was up for.
This is the reason why Multiverse Saga feels so rushed and quarter baked. Because they want to secure these actors because they're getting older.
Bring back Harry Lloyd as Xavier, please
No need to connect it to Legion, just have him back, he was a good Xavier
>They fucked up when the old guard tried to keep the AoS/Netflix characters separate
>stubbornly refused to recast T'challa
these two feel like two massive fuck ups, turning agents into an au instead of a complementary series when its had the best writing the mcu has seen yet and dumping all the good will you had on bp and civil war by using the mousey side character as the lead? as much as the comics division seems to be rum by morons it seems the movie division is too but theyre just much luckier
>its had the best writing the mcu has seen yet
AoSfags really are delusional.
point to something better
Jessica Jones. David Tennant by himself had better dialogue than anything AoS ever did.
What we see here is an example of a pot calling the kettle black.
>Jessica Jones fags think their show wasn't a completely unwatchable garbage
>Jessica Jones fags think Tennant wasn't awful in every way including utterly cringeworthy dialogue
You're truly the most obnoxious homosexuals who ever existed. I don't even like AoS but get off your high horse.
>Fantastic 4 can probably hit that Disney mark. X-Men might have it easy seeing as they can poach characters from FoX-Men/Deadpool 3.
If they were smart they'd work with Sony and double down on Spider-Man.
Peter Parker plays incredibly well with the Fantastic 4, and he interacts well with a good chunk of the X-Men.
Make Spider-Man the central character in place of Iron Man, and use him as a bridge between the F4, the X-Men, street level heroes like The Defenders, and whatever is left of The Avengers.
>Make Spider-Man the central character in place of Iron Man,
This was clearly the plan directly after endgame. But he was a heckin white male so it was shot down
more like they don't want to split revenue with Sony with every fucking movie they make with Spider-man in there
It was shot down because Sony still owns the movie rights to Spider-Man. They won't give that up until hell freezes over, and they made sure to remind Marvel/Disney of it right after Endgame by announcing that Spider-Man would no longer be a part of the MCU and taking a year to renegotiate a deal
Blade is arguably the most popular black character in the Marvel universe who has an actual fanbase across races. Like, plenty others have their issues (T'challa himself is fine but Wakanda is a bit of a cringefest, Luke Cage is a bit bland, Miles Morales cannot stop stealing from Peter). I cannot comprehend why they'd want the movie to be about anyone but Blade. I hope it does work out and he is the main character in his own fucking movie, but there is no fucking need for a female character to take focus away from him.
Blade's just badass, period. Got a motorcycle, a sword, sick sunglasses and he wears them at night. They just need to do a movie that focuses on him and him alone.
Disney really should've tried harder to get those Spidey rights, tbh. I'm not saying this as a Mouse nor as a Snoy fan, but not having free reign over Peter is really fucking the MCU over since Spidey movies could've helped a great deal whenever they fell into a slump or struggled to get a new project with a lesser character going. Hell, fuck all that Kang and multiverse garbage - they could've tapped into the public's newfound love for the Avengers and done Dark Avengers with Norman Osborn, give an actual need for a new group of heroes to get together to form an opposing team. Norman is popular, get someone like McConaughey to play him and you're set.
You can tell I'm salty that we'll never see a live action Stormin' Norman leading the Avengers. Sony also seems very reluctant to use him.
Seeing what Disney's done to Spidey, I'm glad they failed.
Sony's not much better, but goddamn.
They had the opportunity in 2014 to buy the Spidey rights for around 3 billion, according to the leaked emails from that retard Pascal, but Feige thought that amount was insulting. If they had done so at the time they wouldn't be in such a big mess right now. Peter would be the post Endgame protagonist proper and the Thunderbolts would have Senator Osborn leading the team in the Iron Patriot suit, imagine the level of kino we were deprived from.
>Feige thought that amount was insulting.
It is.
True, it's insultingly low for one of the most iconic characters of all time.
Begone, Amy.
Enjoy your flops, Kevin.
NTA, but that's way too much, especially they already proved that they could make Marvel movies capable of making a ton of money without Spider-Man, so it's not like they were hurting for it. Obviously, Sony didn't want to give up their prize possession so easily, but they got really fucking greedy.
this is me saying it in hindsight, but they really should've thought ahead. The merch alone sells like crazy and even the shittiest of Spidey stories across different media have dedicated fans. I'm not saying Disney Spidey as its own project would've been something amazing, but not having Peter, his strong civilian cast and the most recognizable villains in Marvel is such a missed opportunity. Sony's gonna keep milking the Spiderverse (and ruining the few good alt Spideys/clones/Miguel), but every other thing they've done with the IP since Raimi left has been weak as fuck.
I thought the number was more around 8 billion?
In retrospect, I think Disney would've been better off paying $3 billion for Spider-Man instead of paying $71 billion for Fox + another $8 billion + for Hulu as a result
Majors unlikely to continue. Replacing Kang for Doctor Doom has been discussed, but deemed unviable due to several projects already setting up Kang and Marvel not being able to rewrite/reshoot them due to the strikes. They will most likely recast Kang and perhaps limit him to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
ahahhahahahaha no one cares about this jobber. Get fucked Disney
I thought they decided to stick with Majors? What happened? shit looks grim.
He's going to court for domestic abuse.
He got Jonny Depp'd.
Or he actually is a domestic abuser. Many actors in the NYC theater scene came out and said Majors was known for this kind of behavior back when he was a theater actor.
And Disney investigators didn't find this and none of those actors said shit till he was nearing the peak of his career.
I'm sure Disney knew. Somewhere in a conference room, people paid a lot of money discussed it and decided that it was worth the risk. They knew the odds of people coming out when he was big were high, they took their bet, and I feel no sympathy for them for betting on the wrong horse. It's like Walmart bitching about increased theft - you absolutely knew that was the risk when you replaced humans with self check-out and you rolled the dice, fuck off with that sore loser shit.
Of course they would come out of the woodwork when he got big, like Roiland
>What happened?
Unlike Depp or Roiland, the abuse charges are looking to stick.
They were playing the waiting game after a kneejerk reaction cost them James Gunn, but it looks like Majors is truly going down.
Even if he beats the rap, he’s tarnished.
>The Marvels had four weeks of reshoots, and box office expected to be disappointing
>At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story.
>le evil super villiand can't actually be an evil doer IRL
all this homosexualry you go woke get broke, not even doom xmen or ff would be able to save them, and thats good maybe in 10 years comics come back to what they where before hollywood
>Jonathan Majors unlikely to continue
Why axe the kang plotline when you're this deep in? Just recast him. Disney is fucking retarded.
Disney seems EXTREMELY autistic about recasting (black) actors. except for Terrance Howard lmao.
Supposidly, Chadwick Boseman's family were prectecly fine with someone else replacing T'Challia, but Disney went full retard and were like "NOOOOO WE GOTTA PRESERVE BOSEMAN'S LEGACY! WE'LL JUST MAKE SHURI THE NEW BLACK PATHER EVEN THOUGH IT MAKES ZERO SENSE THEMATICALLY!"
Coogler didn't want to recast either, but the issue was, they had to make part 2. No brakes, so they decided to incorporate his death. It was a Feige/Coogler choice to shift instead of recast, but it was a Disney choice to not delay the movie.
>Disney seems EXTREMELY autistic about recasting (black) actors. except for Terrance Howard lmao.
It's BECAUSE of Terrance Howard that they're reluctant to recast. Because Ike Perlmutter, in all his infinite wisdom, declared "Nobody would care. All black people look the same" when they were recasting Rhodey. Which, of course, got out to the press. So I can see why they would hesitate, but they should have gotten a new T'Challa and continued Boseman's legacy.
Because the projects associated with him weren't meeting their high expectations anyways.
Literally only Quantumania underperformed, and all critics were saying he was the sole highlight.
He's only strongly associated with Qauntumania and Loki, so yeah.
Loki is popular, though. So it's a 50/50.
He was being propped up as the next Thanos.
Yes, that's the discussion, why they decided to pivot so drastically on something so big instead of just recasting.
Maybe if we wasn't black, they would. But recasting a black actor will probably piss someone off.
Did you even read the OP? They didn't. They considered, realized they were in too deep, so now they'll just recast and at worst wrap it up in The Kang Dynasty instead of stretching it out into Secret Wars.
So they are recasting, not pivoting away as you said.
This is the original script for Blade
>1920s New Orleans.
>Old, jaded Blade finds out he has a young daughter, Zora, after her mother is killed by Deacon Frost, the vampire who created Blade by biting Blade’s pregnant mother.
>Frost wants to use Zora’s blood to turn himself and his followers into Daywalkers. Blade rescues Zora but is injured and asks his associate Quincy Harker for help.
>Blade doesn’t want Zora to be part of his life due to the danger, but they bond while Blade is recovering, though Zora is hurt when she finds out Blade planned to leave her with Harker.
>Zora also bonds with Harker’s surrogate daughter Rachel Van Helsing, who encourages Blade to be a father to Zora.
>Zora is later captured by Frost, who also kills Harker. Blade, Rachel and Harker’s enforcer Taj Nital go to rescue Zora and avenge Harker.
>Taj dies, Blade kills Frost and saves Zora, and decides to raise her, while Rachel inherits Harker’s fortune and continues his vampire-hunting activities.
>Only two major action scenes: Blade rescuing Zora from Frost’s followers, and Blade and the hunters assaulting Frost’s lair to save Zora.
Calling Blade a “fourth lead” is an exaggeration, but it was indeed an ensemble with Rachel, Zora and Harker having almost equal screen time to him.
>So I was thinking about this cool black vampire hunting vampire, right
>Right
>And I thought, what if we make him old and tired, an absentee father, and set up strong females to replace him right away?
...Yay?
Good afternoon, Mrs Kennedy.
Feige hated it as well, so much he fired the original writer and director and ordered a new script, which Ali apparently was happier with.
>1920s New Orleans.
>Blade is brash and confident.
>Rather than having a daughter, Blade takes a teenage orphan under his wing, Leon style.
>Frost is now a cult leader who wants to revive Lilith, the mother of demons, so vampires can rule the world.
>Blade and his sidekick must stop Frost from completing the ritual to revive Lilith.
>Lilith wields the Ebony Blade, tying into Blade's appearance in Eternals.
>Supporting characters include Madame Vanity, who runs the brothel where Blade lives, and Bible John, Blade's crazy occultist informant.
>1920s New Orleans
Could be neat
>Everything else
Man he's a guy with a sword who fights vampires. Have him fight vampires, then there's a big scrunklo vampire he struggles with so he does a thing or finds a thing that lets him overcome the struggle and saves the day. You don't need him to be jaded or tired or anything, just give him opposition that he can't handle unless he overcomes some personal flaw or completes a trial. That's how story telling works!
You're stretching the amount of legacy heroes to turn into jaded assholes when you're trying to pull this shit with fucking Blade of all people.
>1920s New Orleans.
They're gonna lynch him.
Vampires best not step then.
>Buncha honkeys pull out a rope for him
>Blade draws his sword
>Bitches run
>Blade sighs, sheathes his sword and shrugs
All Marvel needed to do was just focus on Disney+ shit to tied the fanatics over.
Not release a single movie beyond No Way Home.
And then four to five years later, start Phase 4 with Marvel's X-Men. Would have been the easiest $2+ billion they ever would have made.
Well, I think that could have happened if Star Wars had not shat the bed. They were banking on Star Wars being the Cash Cow for a while, but that plan didn't pan out at all.
>We wuz kangz n shiiet
I still can't belive it wasn't made on purpose
>Victoria Alonso gets fired, threatens retaliation
>Suddenly all trades get access to high-level, negatively-slanted information about upcoming Marvel projects
>All shifting blame away from Alonso as much as possible
Hmn... I wonder...
It's remarkable how quickly the media went all-in on Marvel doomposting.
Hoes really ain't loyal.
>Disney cut back on the "marketing budget"
>marketing mags start trashing disney
HMMMMMM
The writing has been on the wall, but now no one can deny it anymore, so the floodgates are open.
we are entering a global recession, disney can't afford to hand out checks to every notable press outlet anymore.
It's almost like they were paid to suck Disney's dick and the only people in denial about this are Disney fanboys who don't want to accept that they're just another soulless corporation.
>Being loyal to a company
I'm as loyal as the size of the check they give me.
has gone through five writers, and Mahershala Ali almost quit due to script issues. At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story. Logan writer Michael Green is currently working on a new draft, and the project has been revamped as a standalone film with a budget of under $100M, and possibly R-rated.
Ali seems like he's trying to drag that project into being good kicking and screaming despite disney's attempts to the contrary
He's still fresh to the Marvel game. Let him fight until the third movie or so when he's too tired and burnt out to butt heads, like what happened to Wesley Snipes.
>he just didn’t
>Let him fight until the third movie or so when he's too tired and burnt out to butt heads, like what happened to Wesley Snipes.
wesley didnt get combative until the third flick where they tried to kill him off to spingboard a movie series for hannibal king and whsitlers daughter, and they really tried to paint him as te bad guy in all that
James Gunn sure got tired. Luckily DC was right there waiting to snatch him.
>James Gunn sure got tired.
Yeah, being accused of pedophilia over edgy tweets will do that to you.
Indeed. I can respect him for being professional enough to stick around long enough to finish his trilogy.
>Have a character called Kang
>Cast a black guy as him
>Doesn't even put him in makeup to make him purple or anything like Thanos or Vision
>Literally just a black guy
Have some celery with this lelery.
Don't forget they also had him in full pharaoh get up
Well yeah, Rama Tut is a thing
Why do they keep trying to force female teen Mary sues? Boys don’t like it, and the dropping sales reflect that reality.
Disney needs its princesses.
If you believe the rumors, Marvel already has a potential replacement for Majors lined up.
he looks like a protentional bitch choker
Hnnng bitches will get so wet for this KANG. God imagine him fucking Wanda and Carol and Yelena and Kate and Kamala and Monica and Cassie. I am so, so close...
He’s already playing a character in Blade
Not anymore. He got replaced by the girl from Pearl.
Different versions of Kang looking different is literally already baked into the character lore though
>Covid
>Bob Chapek
>Disney+
>Chadwick Boseman's death
>James Gunn's firing
>Jonathan Majors' crimes
>Writers strike
>Actors strike
When you think about it, the amount of factors that lined up to completely fuck up Marvel's winning streak is quite remarkable.
Disney themselves were highly instrumental in like half of those though.
>Disney+
Apparently the quality control for the shows were literally nothing at all and they just wanted to shit out content
>Boseman's death
They could have recasted him but didn't
>James Gunn's firing
Don't fire James Gunn
>Writers strike
>Actors strike
Give into their demands even if it means executives don't get ultra morbillion dollars every quarter like they used to
Part of it comes from Iger's bad decisions
>Letting Lucasfilm do whatever while he tried to focus on buying Fox
>Deciding to buy Fox in the first place which depleted Disney's cash and left them unprepared for COVID and post-COVID
>pushing Disney+ in the first place
people tried to point to Chapek as the one who wanted more Marvel shows on Disney+ but Iger was the one who championed Disney+ pre-COVID
I love the karma.
Shit, I forgot that because he bought Fox, Disney ended up becoming majority shareholder of Hulu, meaning they were locked in to purchasing Comcast's stake in it. They just announced that they're paying at least $8 billion for it.
It's karma after over a solid decade of somehow avoiding any scandal while climbing higher and higher to unparalleled success.
Also Florida fucking their finances hard on which they haven't recovered it yet and is still going downhill
I actually sort of felt for Chapek a bit since Victoria Alonso and Latondra Newton completely screwed him on that.
Only for Iger to can both of them only months after he returned
>Disney had streamlined the production of Marvel shit so heavily that it's now backfiring as they need to redo a ton of shit due to a myriad of reasons that are both their fault and beyond their control
Hey Disney, I better get new Marvel content TOMORROW or I'm never watching another MCU thing ever again. Snap snap make it choppy but also high quality.
>and spreading Feige too thin to maintain quality control
>Feige
>quality control
Yes
If they drop Jonathan Majors, they could probably cast a new actor as a Kang variant and get away with their narrative. But it would still be a bad look with how deeply they’ve committed to this. Like…The Council of Kang scene, or the Kang statues with Jonathan Majors face being all over the TVA. It would be real awkward to undo all of that within the year.
This isn’t like Terrance Howard checking out of the MCU in the 2000s, either. IIRC he walked away because of the salary? Whereas Majors has a legal battle coming and the court of public opinion on social media more involved than ever.
>and the court of public opinion on social media more involved than ever.
Or at least since Depp.
Kang jobbed in his first appearance. No one has any fear of a jobber who lost to antman in his first appearance.
>Like…The Council of Kang scene, or the Kang statues with Jonathan Majors face being all over the TVA. It would be real awkward to undo all of that within the year.
Just do a quick Ant Man movie where a CG Council of Kangs assemble to plot their conquest of the multiverse when all of a sudden the whole place is swarmed by ants, then giant socialist ants break in through the ceiling, and the camera pans down to a shrunken Hank Pym in his own Ant Man suit, radioing back to Scot in the lab confirming his suspicions about Kang, but "We've got it handled." as Kangs are torn apart by ants. Socialist ants. . Then continue with a classic heist story.
It's amazing how that even though Disney/Marvel Feige have like nearly all the pieces they're still trying to push through with this overarching storytelling nonsense. Just do the shit that people want to see already now in 2 to 3 movie arcs that release in 6 to 8 month gaps.
Want to see the Avengers, F4 and Xmen team up and take on Kang, Doom and Magneto for 2 movies. Do it.
Then take a year off then release a 3 movie arc of Avengers vs XMen.
Take another year or two of then do something else.Hell they don't even need to interconnect or have set up films. At this point just get it out.
Take time to do an inventory and think of something satisfying? No way! It's constant content all the time!
I rather have car crash Xmen/Avenger flicks than being told I have to watch Ironheart season 3, then She Hulk season 7, then Shang Chi 4: The Golden Chinese takeout menu so that I TRULY enjoy Avengers 10: Save the Disneyverse and the Simpsons
What? You don't like doing homework before watching a movie?
Are we pretending that hasn't always been the case with the MCU?
It used to be like one or two movies a year. Having to juggle movies and now a bunch of TV shows has made things absurd.
It wasn't when the MCU was good. Which is to say, exactly Iron Man 1 and nothing else
Now that the dust has settled, why the fuck does Lil Johnny pull that stupid pout in almost every fucking picture I see of him?
Does it matter that they put in too much work to set up Kang? It would be pretty in character for Doom to turn around and yoink whatever it was he was doing. It's sort of his whole bag really.
Or, and this is crazy I know, people only cared about a story that had been set up since the earliest stuff and once that story was told they were finished and moved on.
This was true for stuff immediately post endgame but the audience was willing to be pulled back in if the later stuff proved different and interesting enough to pull them back in
>Marvel’s decline has been attributed to the amount of content they needed to produce to prop up Disney+ leading to subpar scripts and visual effects, and spreading Feige too thin to maintain quality control, as well as overinflated budgets due to the studio’s previous successes making it seem like every project would be a hit.
Shocked and happy they do seem to have identified a major problem
Just keep Majors. Since when does Disney care about hiring criminals?
>Under $500 Million is considered a flop
>despite the fact that most of these moves brought in near double their budget
Does flop nolonger mean it didn't make money? Is Marvel retarded? If the movies are grossing more than the budget to make them, someone is dumb as fuck.
Flop because the studio likes to overestimate audience interest. Sometimes execs are so out of touch that they mistake Endgame hype as a precursor to making billions by per post-Endgame solo movies, kinda like how parents buy kids toys of a superhero character they heard they like but they instead give them the cheap barely articulated slop and think that they'll be just as happy with it.
Or when they're explicitly depending on a return of X dollars because they need the money. Like how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 still made an okay profit but was considered a massive failure by Sony Pictures because they were bleeding money and needed a big hit fast.
ASM2 definitely suffered for that but the weird thing is it was OVER-advertised as if people aren't compelled to watch a Spider-Man movie. Imagine my disappointment when I actually saw the movie and found out the ending scene was literally shown in the trailers, those marketing idiots.
So it sounds like Marvel is retarded due to corporate greed. Like if a movie makes near double your investment, that should be a success. If your making risky plans because you expect every Marvel movie to be Iron Man or Avengers, you absolutely deserve to be fired. Sadly, that won't happen, and the CEOs and Executives are going to blame audiences and lower level talent for their incompetence.
Movies need to double their budget to break even. Everything after that is profit.
Marvel movies on average cost $200M, plus $100M in marketing, putting the breakeven at around $600M. Discounting tax breaks and licensing deals, an average breakeven of $500M per movie sounds about right.
It's entirely likely Disney has been underreporting the actual budgets for these movies. Those numbers only get out through the entertainment industry trades and not Disney themselves, so I don't think they have any legal requirement to be accurate.
Not interested.
If theyre going to do Doom then give him more than just a saga, especially if the only indication of hid existence is the time platform in dictionary strange 2
Oh wait, it's not even a whole saga: they're SHOEHORNING HIM IN AS A LAST RESORT
I'm done, they're rushing this to save face.
And it's a shame because this is more pathetic than DC temporarily abandoning the Snyder verse plans.
Say what you will about Kang, but actually SEE THE STORY TO ITS CONCLUSION rather than abruptly changing face, this is the type of shit we DONT like in the comics.
And personally, I just wanted to see Kang win on screen, I actually kinda like Jonatahn Majors so it's a shame they've been making his kang look weak and pathetic by getting tricked and dunked om by fucking women like "sylvie"
i'm fine with kang being black. what i'm not fine with is ALL the kangs being black. you mean to tell me that there isn't a single universe where the dude is white or asian or latino or something?
It could just be the closest Kangs in the nearest timelines.

Doomfags are coping hard
The fantastic Four are shit and anything that relates to them as well. Terrible and boring garbage
A lot of the FF movie hype on Cinemaphile is coming entirely from Doomfags who just see it as a vehicle to get /theirguy/ into the MCU, and don't seem to understand that every previous FF movie used Doom as the villain, and if they do the same thing again they're likely to get the same results again. They need to do something very different with FF movies.
The people hyped about an X-Men reboot are as bad, they literally can't comprehend not opening with Magneto and not doing the same story Fox kept telling.
They really should've done a reverse Heroes Reborn after Endgame and have X-Men and FF then plus T-Bolts
no but this time they'll do Dark Phoenix right!!!
>The people hyped about an X-Men reboot are as bad, they literally can't comprehend not opening with Magneto and not doing the same story Fox kept telling.
I'm a devout x-fag and i'll take anything as long as it's decent.
Ideally something before mutants go public, where they're just thought to be lab freaks/super soldiers/rock people/whatever so the X-Men can do some comfy Westchester stuff, and fly around on covert missions instead of HURR DURR SAVE TEH WORLD/NYC
>The people hyped about an X-Men reboot are as bad, they literally can't comprehend not opening with Magneto and not doing the same story Fox kept telling.
I've always thought that the MCU X-Men should start off with the Sentinels and Master Mold as the first villains.
In fact, you've got a pretty good three-act structure if you just follow the basic history of X-Men in the comics. You play it right, you don't even need to introduce Magneto for a while:
>Phase One: based off of 60s X-Men.
The X-Men are led by Xavier out of the mansion, using the cover of being a small, exclusive private school. Young team consisting only of the O5, maybe Polaris, Havok, and Banshee can join later. Focus on Cyclops as leader. They wear the uniforms. Mutants are only just becoming something the public is aware of, and are widely hated with no one championing them. Villains are Sentinels, Juggernaut - the villain/threat shouldn't be anything cosmic or world-ending here. Tease Wolverine in credits because people can't get enough of the fucker.
>Phase Two: based off of Claremont's Uncanny.
Team expands. Maybe some of the members from Phase One step down or die to make way for the classic Giant-Size line-up (i.e., get rid of Angel and Iceman). Jean upgrades to Phoenix WITHOUT doing Dark Phoenix Saga for the 3rd time. Introduce Wolverine, without letting him overshadow everyone else. The X-Men expand, get the Blackbird, generally become more international. Mutants are more public now, Xavier starts being a spokesman, but tensions rise further. Villains can be Hellfire Club, maybe could adapt the M'Kraan Crystal arc or Brood Saga.
>Phase Three: based off of the good stuff from the 90s/00s
X-Men become a proper organisation. Return to the school aspect a la New X-Men. Introduce Rogue, Gambit, Cable. Villains could be Mr Sinister, Apocalypse, or finally Magneto. No AvX or Genosha/Krakoa shit. End with mutants eventually accepted by world at large, X-Men as heroes. Xavier wins.
Sentinels and Master Mold are retarded outside of comics, they're too high tech for the setting.
I'd prefer the X-men dealing with mutants, solo, groups, or in the employ of nations. Their first villain should just be surviving normalfags and staying secret. Make them good action or spy movies with some mutie drama, instead of focusing on adding every memberberry from the comics.
I was a huge fan of the fanon speculation that either the reality stone or Wanda would cause the existence of MCU X-Men through some earthly mutant wave event and then the mutants' main issues would be hiding their powers from paranoid folks, the government, and even from SHIELD/Hydra recruitment.
Adding mutants this far into the MCU is retarded and they shouldn't do it, but since they are, they should just copy Ultimate X-Men and make them the result of experiments. It forces them to something drastically different to the older movies, and works to introduce them to the MCU in low numbers without using some magic plot device to make them. The people constantly demanding to reduce Wanda to a plot device for bringing the X-Men into the MCU were so annoying.
Looks like Wanda was destined to be reduced into a disappointment either way. Looking at you MoM
I always hoped Wanda would do a full reset, and they'd just recast and do-over everything.
I completely lost hope in MCU X-Men after the shitty inhumans meme, if MCU is doing bad now then maybe with a reset they could be good. Just give them a single good director that decides the storyline, without too much influence from the main office.
I wouldn't mind Fury knowing, they could be his secret avengers, wrangling muties and commies in return for his protection from the world including SHIELD as a whole.
Imagine X-Men as a mix between cold war era spy movies, mission impossible, and slice of life. All i want bro. But whatever, just give us something decent.
also rogueass
>also rogueass
Perturabo, I didn't expect to see you here.
You've got the wrong guy, i'm a loyalist. 2 DA WAAAAAAAAGH!!111ONEONE
The snap was the perfect opportunity to introduce mutants. The Gauntlet was used three times on earth and Banner mentioned the huge amounts of gamma energy it released each time, could have easily had it so all that energy activated the dormant mutant gene on earth's population, with mutants having existed before (Xavier and Mags, Logan, Apocalypse, etc) but in very small numbers and they all went underground/spent all that time getting experimented on so that's why no one even knew of mutants at large.
With the snap being the basis of mutantkind you get the O5 being young, Cyclops and Jean mainly, and other young characters like Khamala. And you start plopping mutants here and there (Storm in BP2, D-list mutants in She-Hulk, Hellfire Club mention in Moon Knight, Weapon X mention in Falcon and WS) teasing an eventual crossover, you can even tie-in with the Eternals and say the Celestials were responsible for the x gene. The perfect path for introducing muties was right there but they completely squandered it.
>Sentinels and Master Mold are retarded outside of comics, they're too high tech for the setting.
Considering this is a setting where a man with big, bulky power armour eventually upgraded to having said armour be made out of magical nanotech so he could fight a cosmic dictator, I really don't think they are.
The Sentinels work both as an embodiment of human fears, while also being really big robots for the X-Men to fight. You could easily tie the Sentinels and Bolivar Trask into some secret government-sanctioned program to deal with mutants, or have it be a public military-industrial project supported by corporations and a significant number of the population before it all goes tits up. The Sentinels themselves also work much better against a fresh X-Men team; once the team's bigger and they have more powerful members, it becomes odd that some simple robots could cause them such trouble. If it's just the O5, then the danger is far greater for them, and they can't ask for help. Also, personally, I like the classic chunky purple Sentinels a lot and I really want to see them do it properly.
>Their first villain should just be surviving normalfags and staying secret.
You'd need to have an antagonist beyond just 'general public dislike'. If you want to stick to a human villain, it'd be tricky to come up with a sufficient threat, and you'd be up against Brian Cox as Stryker in X2 which is a tough act to follow. Maybe you could adapt Cameron Hodge or the X-Cutioner, but it'd be hard to have either carry a movie as antagonist. Or you could just make up your own OC villain.
>Make them good action or spy movies with some mutie drama, instead of focusing on adding every memberberry from the comics.
That's exactly what I want to go for as well. But I'd like it if the MCU X-Men could reflect the comics more than the Fox films did. It doesn't have to descend into easy nostalgia or references wank, but if it were up to me I'd draw from the source more closely.
Stark is dumb too. Unless they go full retard and explain that his arc reactor is really the moonstone or some shit(nanotech moonstone, bullshit! habeeb it!).
I'd rather see Bolivar Trask as a rich guy on an island making the legacy virus and anti-mutant tech(ESP detector, x-ray gun for killing metal men, etc).
It would be nice if they tuned down all the SUPER parts, everything is too fantastical, it's like when there are so many special fx that they stop being special.
>You'd need to have an antagonist beyond just 'general public dislike'
I'd like to see them working for Fury wrangling mutants, so their first antagonist could be a mutant rights guy(notmagneto), or maybe just tracking down rogue aliens for Fury/Brand before they ET call home.
> But I'd like it if the MCU X-Men could reflect the comics more than the Fox films did
I like the idea of that, but i just think the stuff that makes the comics good rarely translates. I'd rather just have a good movie with some x-men plastered on top, instead of the usual 'brand name action movie'-shit.
I really like the 60s era stuff they did, and also the vibes from the Legion show. There is so much quality there, if they just dig a bit.
I hope it turns out good, realistically speaking we'll either just get a DARK ACTION MOVIE like phoenix/apocalypse shit, or light hearted James Gunn action movie with lots of 80s pop music. The latter really wasn't that bad to be quite frank my kinsman.
whatever you do, don't open the attached image
90s XMen toon introduces the whole team fighting Sentinels and it did fine. Kids like seeing giant robots smash stuff and get blown up.
>the white is the mutie
LMAO you sure is this 1987 not 2087?
>Sentinels and Master Mold are retarded outside of comics, they're too high tech for the setting.
Iron man in first phase > Ultron > Guardians of the galaxy
and they already make em in the movies, and fixed it for old times
i don't why not, also they already did the villain is normalfags with the "new mutants" movie
It's gonna be impossible for audiences to accept a new Wolverine if they insist on bringing Jackman back at every opportunity.
I hope the X-Men movies are great. With relatively low powered muties(no z0mg worldending powers or enemies), just giving 3DPD life to some of the better stories with a good not-too-diverse cast.
I know they're going to be shit, and be a mix of Joss Whedon and James Gunn shit, or grimdark DCshit, but i choose to hope despite of it.
I just want regular X-Men, no krakoa, no crossover, just mutieshit, mutants going shopping, mutants beating up magneto, saving mutants, just regular x-men shit.
It's all i want, there is no hope for the comics, just give me a couple of good movies to keep my fantasy world alive.
>Good not-too-diverse cast.
No, let them add as much diversity as they can in X-men. That's the one franchise that is built around diversity and minorities. Let them just throw all the diversity point right here to they can lay off the other franchises.
This. They already made Trask a short king and that already felt like a cheeky nod to the fact that he hates mutants despite suffering from a medical genetic mutation
Start your gender transition right fucking now or I'll have you killed by a SWAT team. I'm trans and israeli btw. Do not make me wait.
What are some characters you wish we had seen before the MCU went tits up? Mine are pic related and Beta Ray Bill
It was always shit. They did the fucking infinity gauntlet arc without half the characters that are integral to it.
Fin fang foom
Norman Osborn (mcu variant)
Mephisto
More ghost rider
None because I don't want to see the MCU ruin them.
You'd Think Bill would have been an obvious hook for Thor. It's like not bringing in War Machine or Venom. There's no reason they shouldn't have done it.
>There's no reason they shouldn't have done it.
But uhhhh Cool Space Horseman Thor isn't diverse enough anon. It's HER turn.
Maybe it's a blessing that her rights are fucked, but it's not like Sony can do any better.
>Nova and Bill
You and me bro.
I didn't want it because it was obvious they were gonna fuck them up already.
I honestly miss discussing MCU with Cinemaphile. Now it's all seething and doomposting. Even GotG3 only had tolerable discussion during the film's opening weekend.
If they rush doom, they are going to fuck it up and that might be it.
They're going to anyway. The only way they don't is if they don't use him.
WE WANT SEX, ABS, TITS AND ASSES
GIVE US THAT AND YOU'LL GET YOUR 1B/MOVIE BACK
PERIOD
>Next movie, Captain Marvel is fighting a giant booby monster with a fat ass
You can kill Carol as gruesome as possible, nobody will give a shit
But anon! We haven't gotten to her best story yet!

that's progressive and reddit approved
>she dies at birth

...is it? I guess you can get an anti-natalist narrative out of it...
’s decline has been attributed to the amount of content they needed to produce to prop up Disney+ leading to subpar scripts and visual effects, and spreading Feige too thin to maintain quality control, as well as overinflated budgets due to the studio’s previous successes making it seem like every project would be a hit.
laughable
there has never been a bigger elephant in hollywood
For me, the She Hulk final killed the MCU. What does any threat mean when one of the characters can 'literally' break the the 4th wall and talk to their existence's version of God. Any time Kang or Galactus or whatever seems out of hand, just get the green cunt to nag at the AI writing everything until it submits and has Kang shit himself to death.
MCU is too much for your brain to handle anon.
the robot told her she won't be able to pull that trick again.
And probably the whole place was the WHR in a way her brain could understand it.
And Palpatine exploded in a fiery infero before a space station the size of a moon went kablooey. Disney has blinked and revealed they'd use the shittiest writing techniques needed to force a story to work. There's no such thing as totes mcgoats this is the final thing especially in the world of comics where status quo is king.
Again the MCU is too much for you to handle. Comics =/= Movies.
He says, as we discuss a TV show. I think you're just a She Hulk fan desperate to defend its honor against pointing out how a moment in it totally destroys the stakes of everything. Keep believing!
The robot will not do it again it will not it won't it never will no way no how...somehow, She Hulk convinced the robot to do it again.
>this is your brain on mousecuckoldry
>At one point, Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story.
What kind of substance are they on? How does an obviously retarded idea even make it out of the pitch meeting?
>We should take that character that everyone likes and make him a quarternary protagonist! Just like in Blade 3, the worst one
A combination of coke, poppers and ESG dollars. But that last one is running out.
>Jonathan Majors unlikely to continue
I mean...wouldn't make sense if they just recast him, since the multiverse and stuff.
whats with the new rumors claiming tobey and jackman to be leads for secret wars??
>Captain America

>>
>>>>>>Set to be replaced by black man.
This set was heading for death's bed in the immediate future anyway.
Yet I can't help but feel like a Black Hulk would somehow have the opposite effect
Yes, please. I would love to be in the front seat of the shitshow if MCU chooses to adapt Millar's genius idea of "Tyrone Cash".
>Never heard of this character
>read up about them on Wikipedia
Holy shit, Mark Millar is incapable of writing anything that isn't pure edge, is he?
To be fair, He wasa a character from a post-Ultimatum Ultimates book. I think at this point everyone involved, including Millar, just stopped even pretending they give a fuck.
Post-Ultimatum Millar dialed the shitposting up to 11. Nick Fury systematically fucking every one of his wife's female friends and relatives, Red Skull as a raping, baby murdering Steve Rogers's son, homoerotic vampires.
I kinda miss this early post-Ultimatum era. It was a goddamn Wild West. Two Ultimates books, one by Loeb and one by Millar (neither are good because one as you said is Millar shitposting and the other is Loeb being Loeb), realization that Ultimatum royally fucked X-Men so they had Jean Gray start NOT-X-Men out of few surviving established mutants, a couple of new kids and Hulk for some reason.
I hated it all back then, but in retrospect it's pretty interesting to see the attempts to rebuild Ultimate Universe after the total clownshow that was Ultimatum.
I hope they never make another doom live action
the last two has been shit and it is expected they will only get worse form here so any new live action of doom would be terrible and more shit
They just can't get a clue, can they?
Did anyone ever say what she did, though?
MCU should’ve just ended after endgame tbh.
Should've ended after Infinity War. Thanos wins, gg, reboot.
’s decline has been attributed to the amount of content they needed to produce to prop up Disney+ leading to subpar scripts and visual effects, and spreading Feige too thin to maintain quality control, as well as overinflated budgets due to the studio’s previous successes making it seem like every project would be a hit.
Also, COVID.

Even this late in the game, it's interesting how Disney and the media continue to maneuver around the foundational problems, and refuse to admit the truth to themselves. They keep inching closer and closer to it with each failure, but will never fully reach it. It's infuriating to watch, even for a dispassionate bystander.
Marvel and Disney cannot turn around on a dime, because they don't have the right talent pool at the company. One cannot simply tell them to stop being awful, any more than one can get them to stop being woke. It's a matter of both ability and religion.
I don't know what that Peltz fellow is going to do if he is successful and wresting some control at Disney, but I now what he has to do to save the company. He needs to detonate an HR neutron bomb. He needs to figuratively kill as many people at Disney as possible while leaving infrastructure relatively intact. It will be be the opposite of Chapek and Iger's strategy of reorganizing their way out of the mess.
Is there some chinese guy who keeps pitching these bad ideas and the people on staff are too scared to say anything? At this point this is intentional.
>Movies that gross under $500M at the global box office have been considered flops, including Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
And yet they made back their budget.
Marvel really needs to do something off the wall but with actual sets and props instead of cgi everywhere to revive the brand. Like an X-Men movie in the Savage Land or a West Coast Avengers movie with Hawkeye and Rhodey trying to slap together an offbrand hero team to fight Zodiac Cartel. Most importantly though the enemy needs to be treated as a serious threat and the new characters need to be charismatic and fit enough to actually be liked by people.
They'll save the MCU and make it kino. Watch Deadpool 3 be a success purely because of them.
One of the issues other than just bad writing is they're jumping straight to larger than life bullshit rather than taking a step back after Endgame and doing smaller scale stories.
>Black Widow-A worldwide global conspiracy that happened under everyone's noses for decades
>Eternals-All of human history was guided by like 5 chumps
>Spider-Man-The multiverse is in trouble
>Dr Strange-The multiverse is in trouble
>Loki-The multiverse is in trouble
>Ant Man-The multiverse is in trouble
etc.
It’s just a cash grab now
>Blade was a “fourth lead” in a female-led story.
They just introduced him and already they're thinking of replacing him with a female successor? Why does Disney keep doing this?
>We want more women giving us money
>No we don't want to hand tailor something for this audience because new IPs are scary
>The boys won't mind if their characters are sidelined, they know that complaining makes them a sexist incel
>*furious sharting sounds*
They've openly stated that Marvel and Soi Wars are no longer settings, but "lifestyle brands." When it comes to bedecking yourself head to toe with brand-name merch, women are way more likely to do it than men. Think of all the older women you've ever seen with a Tinkerbell handbag or something.
So, since women are more willing to buy and flaunt merch, all d*sney brands must pivot to attracting women primarily. This is why Rey and Carol and whatever Indy's daughter's name is are pushed, why every film has a hot shirtless dude but zero cleavage to be seen, and why d*sney princesses are a huge focus but there's never been much of a "d*sney princes" or male equivalent . I could speculate the LGBTQ+ push is because gay and transsexual men are more likely to purchase "lifestyle brands" as an easy shortcut to signal femininity, but that's another story.
Gays were considered a valuable demographic to court because the overwhelming majority of them didn't have children and companies took that to mean they had lots of disposable income
You know there is no fixing this right? The wokeness is a major part of the issue and until that is addressed, the quality is going to suffer. Unless the ideological Left Is destroyed or ESG money runs out, they literally can’t backtrack. Shuffling studio execs in and out won’t do anything if they’re just going to hire another airhead white limousine liberal to direct things.
Meds.
I’m not a tranny so no

When you try to make the most retarded post on Cinemaphile at the moment.
The reality is that Trump getting elected just accelerated the entertainment industries' worst aspects (all of which were already there prior to Trump's 2015 announcement), and COVID just accelerated the entertainment industries' meltdown.
You know a thread is over when /misc/ subhumans take over it.
Yes, white people ARE subhuman.
Shang-Chi made 400 million in the height of the pandemic without a China release.
There is not a single rational actor who considers it a flop.
Shang-Chi had a $200 million budget and movie theaters take a cut from that $400 million
I really wonder if the X-Men or FF can even save them at this point? We got Reed Krasinski fan cast like everyone wanted and they killed him off immediately. Same with Patrick Stewart. That was THE moment to bring back those franchises back to public memory. Where’s the hype?
>I really wonder if the X-Men or FF can even save them at this point?
Even fuckin Forbrush man could save them if it was good. That's the real problem here. It's not that Marvel just isn't picking the magic secret mix of classical properties to leverage, it's that none of the classical properties they're leveraging are GOOD. They don't tell stories people want to hear. Just start telling interesting stories without woke-scolding and people will go watch any cape garbage you funnel into their brain.
