Marvel Studios has reportedly locked in a director for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

Marvel Studios has reportedly locked in a director for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. It is said to be a "veteran director" with close ties to Disney, who has worked with both the MCU and Disney+ in the past.

People are guessing it's Jon Favreau. Could he pull it off?

Why would you guess him when Star Wars basically called dibs on him already?

I assume this is a similar situation with Raimi where Kevin Feige is getting desperate because the director they had lined up bails in the 11th hour during pre-production so Levin went to his rolodex and is basically pleading with Favreau to do it because they have so few options so late in the game.

Must've been creative differences. Like how the guy for DS2 wanted nightmare and shuma to be the MV and the movie would've been. Doctor Strange and Scarlett Witch team up movie with Wanda being the villain for the third film instead.

Nah. Jon Watts just didn't want to direct another superhero blockbuster so soon after "No Way Home", both because it's exhausting and to avoid getting pigeonholed into only this particular genre.

Instead he's doing a medium-budget thriller starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney and a Final Destination reboot.

I can't wait for the BLACKEST of black men for Reed. The WHITEST white blue eyed blonde chick for Sue. The BROWNEST of brown mutts for Johnny Storm. and perhaps a WHITE Ben Grimm who can turn his Thing form on and off like a Power Ranger.

With him we would have a Susan with fat ass and pretty and he must have learned all the mistakes with Iron Man 2, it would be a good choice

All the main characters are casted by Feige, at best he will cast Ana de Armas as Sue and that will be it but i think we will have something like this

The problem isn’t Favreau, the problem is Feige, his yesmen, and execs.

Favreau is more than capable of making good adaptations, but ultimately Feige and company want another sitcom, commercial for more movies, or generic slop. Iron Man 1 was a great adaptation of the comics, and Jungle Book was a solid reinterpretation that still felt faithful. But then… He did Lion King and Iron Man 2.

Ok Cinemaphile. Give us your Fantastic Four movie.

    >Skip the origin, they’ve been celebrities for about a year.
    >Reed is struggling to get funding for his research, and Sue is starting to feel the strain on their relationship.
    >Johnny is essentially the money maker of the family, doing guest appearances at parties and gigs for cash.
    >Ben, still trying to figure himself out, has become reclusive. At one point he goes to Yancy Street, but leaves when he’s mocked as a monster.

    >A massive sinkhole opens up in the middle of the city, and they decide to investigate when more pop up around the world.
    >The Four find the Moleman and his army of underground monsters and Moloids.
    >Moleman sees Ben, and begins to try and reach out as someone else shunned by humanity. Ben considers the offer, and eventually joins.
    >By the climax, Ben realizes that Moleman plans to kill everyone on the surface, and rejoins the team.
    >The Four fight off the monster army, and manage to cave them all in before they start their war.

    >Moleman is played by Danny Devito or Armin Shimmerman
    >Moleman’s monsters are primarily Kirby creatures
    >The Four have their iconic battle with a giant monster coming out of the hole.

My FF movie would've gone with Mole Man too. Danny DeVito is the great and obvious choice, but Armin Shimmerman is also a good pick too and I'd never have thought of him for it

It'll just be some anonymous young director or someone from the tv shows getting a promotion.

Not really. The guy oversaw the shitshow that was TLK and every other adaptation he's been associated with in recent years had been mid/bad.
