Others allege that they were pulled off the line because their presence hurt morale in general.
I thought the Malmedy Massacre occurred because the Germans were angry about their presence as well, but I now can't find anything about that.

The risk was that the French might enter into proper alliance with Germany after surrendering. Churchill decided frick that, asset denial to make sure the Germans wouldn't be able to challenge the Royal Navy on the waves any more than they already were.

Try landing on France when Germany have air superiority, have blockaded the entire coast and your nearest base is thousands of miles away. There was a reason the German army didn't invade straight after Dunkirk.

When the US joined the war, the British had naval superiority, had cut off their fuel supplies from Africa and the Russians were ready to counter-attack. The Germans were already on the ropes, the US just cut a year or two off of the war.

          >There was a reason the German army didn't invade straight after Dunkirk.
Yeah, they had no surface navy and couldn't never put up a real fight against the Royal Navy, that's why they resorted to U-boats and trying to "starve" Britain again, like they tried in the great war
          >muh russians

A shame they didn't invest more in their airforce. Being so close they easily could have obliterated the Royal Navy based around the Channel and kept the rest away to ferry troops across.

          >had cut off their fuel supplies from Africa
This isn't true at all by the way. Malta was still literally starving in early 42. The Royal Navy didn't have anything like control of the Mediterranean until much later.

The Brits were insolvent during WW1 and that much was true during WW2. Yes the actual headway Brits made were mostly naval which is why the African and mid east regions went okay. In Germany's defense Italy blew it's load on Ethiopia and Germany expected Italy to do more and ignored the med region and north Africa until it was late and they were strung out. That's why the Brits were able to operate due to how much of a cluster Italy was at the time.

It's ironic that Germany's weakness in WW1 was Austria Hungary and in WW2 Italy. The same Italy that was able to stonewall Austria in WW1 got gassed out by literal Africans in WW2. It's like a meme Germany having these unreliable buddies.

Brits have done some cool stuff and all through history but quite a bit of it was due to third party involvement in almost every case. They even used mercs in the war of independence. Did you think you could go toe to toe with another continental without aid at any point in history? I mean India same deal and they were savages like Africa. Brits did great for what they had and worked smarter not harder usually. Hell Brits needed assistance for Falklands war against Argentina lmao. You got the Israel treatment for that.

Air boss didn’t establish a hard floor for the fighters. NTSB preliminary report blamed him.
With the B17 at 500ft, the hard floor for the P63 should have been 1000ft. The air boss just told the fighters to fly above the bombers but neither group had their floors established.
In the turn the P63's visibility was very reduced and (its believed) the pilot continued in the turn because he assumed he had passed the B17.
