MeTV Toons

Are you going to receive the signal Cinemaphile?
https://metvtoons.com/
The channel should be broadcasting this weekend now. Check and see if you are able before 6am Tuesday Morning. I'm literally going to be waking up to watch The Real Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice like I did when I was 6.

At first I didn't think it was coming to my area, but it looks like I should be able to pick it up on the antenna. If not, there's always streaming.

They said there will be a free streaming version of the channel on some kind of roku type service, but it won't be the exact same as the broadcast version.

Your TV should be able to receive over the air broadcasting and an antenna can extend the range.

who the frick still watches tv lmao

There hasn't been a reason to, but for the news and putting something on for the background is good. The living room TV where I am is on MeTV most of the day or the news channel.

We should have a watch along party or something. If someone is willing to stream it.

I'm hoping some anon will attempt, but modern day watch parties are easily killed by bots and foreign corporate watchdogs DMCA report stream takedowns. I certainly don't have the means to stream it, and discord streaming is not going to work to host hundreds of possible anons.

you guys think theyll do anything interesting with the channel after the reruns play out after a year or two or is it going to be abandoned later?
I also notice during the late night they've decided to play a bunch of britbong cartoons

There is literally info drops saying they will have special original programing to explain the celebrate the history of animation in the past. Toon College or something to that affect.

      I'm really stoked.

        Anonymous

Although I know they probably won't do it, since it's a syndication channel. I want them to play animated movies down the line that couldn't really fit onto places like Adult Swim or Cartoon Network.
Stuff like Pink Floyd the Wall or Night on the Galactic Railroad would be nice to see on public television.

There are empty blocks designated for anything. They also mentioned they will mix up the line-up now and then. They obviously know there is an audience for classic cartoons as people are excited for it even with commercials. This is going to be THE lightning in the bottle on saving television as they know it to the older demographics.

I like boomer animation like hanna barbera but im just saying I hope they branch out to other types of stuff, theyre kinda doing that already by playing british stuff at night, but it would be cool to get retro pre 90s anime there (especially night on the galactic railroad) and soviet/eastern bloc stuff, just have a little slice of everything

If by interesting, you mean original animated programming aimed at children or stoner college aged kids, then hopefully not. There's a dozen and a half zoomer cartoon channels that fulfill that purpose already.

If anything we will most likely just have threads like the Toonami (not)Generals. Since it is a network, and every anon will be experiencing the same line-up. So we have that going for us.

I already pirated my favorite cartoons from the 80's and 90's so...got all my childhood faves at hand. I think this is more for millennials and their pathetic children to discover when cartoons weren't agenda-driven shit by queer creators who hated the original version, ironically attempting to cash in on previous incarnations' good name.

I'm used to this attitude with games but why do so many people hate fun? "Oh, I'm super intelligent and pirate everything. Watch shows? Oh no I just have a digital hoard." It's fun to have a old style television cartoon channel again. One I can just have on while I game or do things for work. Sometimes it is nice to let someone else decide what is on to watch.

      MeTV is mainly for boomers.

Remind me again, what the frick happened to Boomerang?

Linear TV is dying. Pay channels like Boomerang even more so. There's nothing WBD can do to change that, so they might as well try monetizing their library some more.

It's mostly a streaming service now. The TV channel still exists, but hasn't changed in a long time

It's TV viewership started declining due to streaming and how it was commissioning shows for the channel.

I don't have an antenna right now. So is there a placeholder promo playing on the channel until it launches right now? Like this?
