I kinda find it ironic that the later seasons of Bob's Burgers wants to moralize about you should just be you and not change yourself for people knowing that the show changed itself after season 6 in a bid to be more popular.

What's wrong with Loren is that he decided halfway through Bob's Burgers he decided he wanted it to be a family friendly tv show because terrible parents kept writing to him that the adult oriented cartoon they keep letting their kids watch is a little too risque so in an act of self-sabotage Loren had the show start self-censoring itself.
Well it turns out when you get rid of the double entendres and sexual innuendos all Bob's Burgers got is toliet humor.

did the writer actually say that? im curious if the episodes changed pretty quickly or if it was a slow burn

            what the frick

Not even The Simpsons tried rewiring the show to be more "family-friendly." Homer and Bart were icons beloved by all ages despite getting involved in some mature situations from time to time. I HATE this

I think they saw all that buzz that was around Bob's Burgers and took the wrong lesson from it. They heard about how much people like the realistic and grounded family dynamic where they didn't snipe at each other with open and genuine malice but ignore how there was also an unspoken praise for the flaws within the Belchers where Bob and Linda can be exasperated and the kids can be legit troublemakers.

It was a slow but unmistakable change where more and more episodes went for a cheap sentimental ending to wrap things up.

It was a slow but unmistakable change where more and more episodes went for a cheap sentimental ending to wrap things up.

Like for me the community garden episode really stood out for how forced and manipulative the sentimental endings were getting where it's supposed to be this beautiful feel good moment where Bob drops his selfish plans to have a hobby garden to attend to Louise's need of firing her nemesis from the restaurant. the crux of this scene is Bob calling his plants his babies, which is just normal thing garderners because gardening takes effort and care, in front if Louise and having this epiphany about how he's being selfish.
It's pretty clear to me how the writers wrote this episode with this ending in mind because everything else about the episode's plot was left in the rough draft because nothing in the script made me think the central conflict was Bob being selfish.

And nowadays that's how these episodes end: with a heartfelt speech about a lesson or moral that the characters already learned from a previous episode because the community garden episode ending was basically just that spaghetti western episode ending from the first season.

that's a good point, the main conflict of that episode was between Logan's mom and Linda anyway, right? i don't understand why bob ended up being punished for wanting some free time

              Anonymous

The way the episode wants to frame is that Bob is forcing Linda and Louise into this intolerable situation of hanging out with Logan and his mom for something that only benefits Bob.
But almost immediately the episode makes it clear that it's purely temporary where it's at most two weeks stint so Louise and Linda are the ones who come off looking selfish.
There's also the fact that even if you ignore that Louise has handled Logan twice already, she can just leave the restaurant to go play outside or in the apartment.
But even if you ignore those two facts, Linda is still being the more selfish all of the three because she's focusing on her mom rivarly with Logan's mom instead of being the only adult in the room.
Like I was genuinely shocked so many people let the fact Linda let her 9 year old daughter run out unsupervised with garden shears knowing going out to destroy Bob's little garden.

it reminds me of what a b***h Linda was in the dentist episode in season 2, where literally everyone is punishing Bob for no reason

It reminds me how there's some episodes where I side with the Belchers when they're presented in the wrong and side against them in episodes where they're presented in the right. It's actually kinda remarkable how consistent this trait is compared the other shows I watch, where I'm just left thinking to myself how "that's not where I would've landed on."

Drag queens were introduced in season 1. One of the best episodes of season 1 even (Sheesh, Cab Bob)... I actually think this show is good in terms of their "representation" and "diversity". It often feels organic rather than like someone who hates me trying to preach at me.

            >Louise surviving rape

"The Child Molester" burgers. Louise claiming they're looking at porn to cover up the Lobsterfest brochure. Bob tying up the food critic.

At least the last thing is do-able. Fox needs to frick off, srs. The same little kids are on Fortnite yelling the N word and listening to music about fricking and drive by shootings. So wtf is the problem? Obviously if your parents are this shit you have no hope anyway. Frick people.

The cave backgrounds in "The Show (and Tell) Must Go On" looked gorgeous, and this end credits sequence in the episode prior brought me so much joy. That callback to "Human Flesh" was also cute.

Yes, we've gotten to the point where stories centered around Tina "trying to fit in" feel unnecessary now (at least unless the writers are serious about her growing out of her 8th grade peers at Wagstaff), but you can still feel for her at times. I found the montage of Tina getting her spirits back after embarrassing herself at that Greek diner genuinely moving.

Gene adds nothing to the show. In fact, he actively drags it down a lot of the time now.

yeah Tina is shown to be pretty popular and is probably the most confident person in her grade, it does not match up

the only time it worked was when Tammy pointed out that Tina is a b***h, even if she is a nerd

but whatever... lets give tina another song...

Depends. This the Cannibal AU? What would edgelord Gene do? How much of Tina would be awkward precocious and how much would be stalker cum convicted child molester? Bob would still be somewhat the same. Except he kills, butchers, and cooks people.
