The predator ship isn't "sexism," its her being distracted by her own ambition. She wants to be the best hunter and get the biggest kill, the deer isn't enough to satiate her nor is the lion, which is why the ship appears and distracts her in those moments. The second she sees the predator foot print she is only focused on hunting it and can't focus on anything else, ultimately leading to a ton of her tribesmen and brother getting killed. The whole movie is a cautionary tale about blind ambition, even if you get what you want you won't be happy in the end.

She's not even physically overpowering most of the encounters, just using her speed to get kills before they get her.

Actually you can obviously see that the actor stopped his hand far away from his face and it's only meant to convey a punch due to how fast it all moves.
You'll notice the guy that grabs her hair from behind doesn't have a weapon, because he would've easily killed her. Then he has one a few seconds later after he's already been injured.
Anons complaining about this don't realize these were the cowards that were ready to leave the camp because they were too pussy to continue fighting the Predator and she just caught them off-guard as they were packing up. But hey, anything to complain about the movie I guess.

now granted this isnt the first female protag in a predator movie. Alexa/Alexis from the first AVP also is like this but the difference is that in that movie the men arent one-dimensional and there are also other women who get whacked just as easily as the men and Alexis is more of a "final girl" who manages to luck out more often than not and has a final moment of bravery that gets the win. the way the men are written is just CARTOONISH and it really stands out as you are watching. Besides that its just a rehash of OG predator. Honestly? just rewatch OG Predator. the CGI in the movie is really bland generic and the plot is nothing to write home about. the Predator's behavior doesnt feel consistent at times which will further drive you up the wall. one second its hunting her the next it doesnt care about her. the next second its once again stalking her but now its distracted and no longer cares or even registers her. In retrospect you will spend the entire movie thinking "if these guys just left the predator alone there wouldnt even be a movie lol"

The two scenes that bothered me the most where when the Predator was being shot by twenty frenchies at once while standing completely still and not a single volley of shots hit his exposed limbs. The second was the ending fight where they decided that instead of having the protagonist use her wits to lead the predator into a series of traps they opted for a cqc duel between a 120lb human woman vs an 8ft tall alien capable of knocking out bears. Other than that it was okay I guess, girl was hot.
It wouldnt be so bad if they didnt make a Star Trek video every second week taking apart the new Star Trek inaccuracies.

They just took it too far, the first two were killed by surprise so they really should have just stopped there instead of showing a random teen fighting 5 men at once.
The entire scene was unnecessary. They also missed a really good setup/payoff with the traps and amputation weapon. She absolutely needed to get trapped by the predator in the final fight and cut her own limb off with the amputator, especially with the tease with her and her brother tied to the tree.
Not really, she uses what she learns throughout the movie to outsmart and kill it predator. She's allowed to fail and her hubris gets many of her tribe and own brother killed. Even at the end when she brings the head back and everyone is celebrating she is dead inside. She achieved what she thought she wanted, completing her big hunt, but her ambition took away the thing she loved the most, her brother.
It was a great concept that could have been executed better.

I thought this movie was alright though. The Alien and Predator movies have a history of female lead characters, so I don' really see why people are losing their shit over this.

I thought just about every aspect of it from the top to bottom was absolute garbage and that the premise of women in movies like this as anything but eye candy is genuinely psychopathic. It's this deranged meme that's evolved from women being in these movies as eye candy, to women no longer being allowed to be eye candy because sexism, to well then they have to be treated seriously, which automatically makes the movie shit.
It can work sometimes, James Cameron being a source of several obvious examples of it working. But it definitely doesn't work in this movie.

now granted this isnt the first female protag in a predator movie. Alexa/Alexis from the first AVP also is like this but the difference is that in that movie the men arent one-dimensional and there are also other women who get whacked just as easily as the men and Alexis is more of a "final girl" who manages to luck out more often than not and has a final moment of bravery that gets the win. the way the men are written is just CARTOONISH and it really stands out as you are watching. Besides that its just a rehash of OG predator. Honestly? just rewatch OG Predator. the CGI in the movie is really bland generic and the plot is nothing to write home about. the Predator's behavior doesnt feel consistent at times which will further drive you up the wall. one second its hunting her the next it doesnt care about her. the next second its once again stalking her but now its distracted and no longer cares or even registers her. In retrospect you will spend the entire movie thinking "if these guys just left the predator alone there wouldnt even be a movie lol"

The two scenes that bothered me the most where when the Predator was being shot by twenty frenchies at once while standing completely still and not a single volley of shots hit his exposed limbs. The second was the ending fight where they decided that instead of having the protagonist use her wits to lead the predator into a series of traps they opted for a cqc duel between a 120lb human woman vs an 8ft tall alien capable of knocking out bears. Other than that it was okay I guess, girl was hot.

They just took it too far, the first two were killed by surprise so they really should have just stopped there instead of showing a random teen fighting 5 men at once.
The entire scene was unnecessary. They also missed a really good setup/payoff with the traps and amputation weapon. She absolutely needed to get trapped by the predator in the final fight and cut her own limb off with the amputator, especially with the tease with her and her brother tied to the tree.

Not really, she uses what she learns throughout the movie to outsmart and kill it predator. She's allowed to fail and her hubris gets many of her tribe and own brother killed. Even at the end when she brings the head back and everyone is celebrating she is dead inside. She achieved what she thought she wanted, completing her big hunt, but her ambition took away the thing she loved the most, her brother.
It was a great concept that could have been executed better.
