      >make arnie be his surrogate dad and protect him
      it makes perfect sense

Great idea. You can go a lot of directions with that. It's too late now. Robert Patrick IS the T-1000 and T2 got neutered by Cameron and the shitty PG-13 rating, keeping it from being an all time classic on all fronts.

I'm pretty sure OP is Indian and got his facts wrong. But yeah, an evil terminator disguised as Reese woulda been based.

And in T3, the TX should've been played by Linda Hamilton.

Honestly, they should have done this. The idea of using the faces the humans know is smart. The T-800's are meant to be nameless nobodies, but if the T-X was meant to be an emotional abuse robot, like, damn.

I think if T3 removed the garbage scenes and nostalgia bait like Arnold calculating human casualties for no reason or the star glasses, and making T-X base form look like Sarah Connor, it would be a massive improvement. Still rehash of T2 but it would be at least decent. What we got is not better than Genisys or Dark Fate. They are all pure garbage.

You know what I mean, the movie was neutered in comparison to the first one.

How? T-1000 stabs his knife hand through a dude's mouth and nails him to the wall, stabs another through his eyeball and holds him in the air while he is twitching, empties his entire pistol on an unlucky dude, tortures Sarah to hear her voice so it can then mimic it and call for John. Arnold pins a hillbilly to a pool table with a knife, degloves his arm off, his face is peeling off after concentrated fire and the mill machine T-1000 uses to smash his head. It's even more visceral than anything in the first movie.

            >Arnold doesn't kill anyone in the bar
            I could look past this
            >Scans the beard
Ok, some mild comedy. No biggie
            >Steals sunglasses
            OK
            >'Bad to the Bone' starts playing
Wait what? Something's not right. That's my main gripe, he gave away the twist. Unless you're a braindead moron.
There's too much comedy scattered throughout the movie. It's not bleak enough. Too much of an Arnold action vehicle. It's still one of my all time favorites, but it could have been more. Too much crowdpleasing and underestimating the audience. There's a lack of faith and there's too much retreading.

The first one is more sincere. Second one is what happens when you put a bunch of talented people together and give them a bunch of money, but tell them you need a return on your investment, or else. Second one had the brakes on.

              >It's not bleak enough.
Yeah like when Sarah realizes the only good father for her son is a robot that looks like one that killed the love of her life and gave her PTSD and nightmares. Or when a family man blows himself up for the better future. Or when the only father John had lowers himself to melted iron. Or when the orderlies are implied to drug and rape patients. Or perhaps when a little kid is trying to guard his dad with his little body so that the batshit crazy woman doesn't shoot his dad, who is trying to push his son away from him, so that his son is not harmed. Or maybe when a man is trying to help T-1000 and just gets stabbed and killed with no second thought for being a good human bean. Yeah it wasn't bleak enough.

Those are all valid examples. But again, there's too much comedy scattered throughout to remind you that 'you're just watching a movie bro'. So those examples you named lose some of their gravity. Did anyone feel sorry for Miles? Hell no, his death is followed by one of the coolest explosions in movie history. It's an action movie. You don't feel the loneliness and hopelesness of the first one. It's the lighthearted framing and fast pacing that doesn't really match the subject matter in the way the first one did. First one gave you some time to let moments sink in, second one is a rollercoaster from start to finish

Don't forget Arnold emptying a machine gun point blank in the T-1000's face. That shit was brutal. But since they're machines it's ok. You can take your kid to see this movie. You have to admit it's a very grey area.

It's just as violent as any 80s R-rated action movie, it was neutered because a good Terminator cucks the bad Terminator

Publically maybe. But the studio talked about Biehn and decided to not cast him because they thought the audience wouldn't get it.

Biehn was a villain in The Abyss, and making Reese a villain is as stupid as making John Connor an villain. Casting an unknown was the right choice

is this why he never made it big? Dude had it all: handsome, good acting expressions, not a bad actor there are worse out there. He could have been the Next Bruce Willis or something.

Yeah both good, forgot about them. What I meant is that he could been an A lister instead of a permanent b-c lister.

Biggest missed opportunity of a movie is a T1 prequel with Biehn but Cameron and the studio think you can't make a terminator film without it being a chase film or having Arnold.
