They couldnt even be bothered to put in Johnny or Danny.
Johnny shows up as an OG Rider in the story mode given what's seen so far.
Nico, Blade, Magik, and Robbie are the 'core' Midnight Suns, with the rest being Avengers who are helping out.
Or DLC (Venom, Deadpool, Magic, Morbius)
I bet other OG Midnight Sons will be added via DLC, especially if there are 4 per pack (I'm hoping for at leas tas many as Street Fighter 5 got).

Listen I would agree somewhat if there were a bunch of high quality avengers games or something but why shouldn't this game give you access to characters people like?
It’s like making a Shadowpact movie ripping off the 00s book and still fighting the Pentacle, but starring Batman, Superman, Cyborg, and Doctor Fate, with Black Alice and some new teen version of Swordsmaster.
Why not just call it New Avengers Dark or something more honest? Why reference the Midnight Sons only to create a completely different main roster and pad it out with Avengers?
Because none of those characters are Midnight Sons besides Scarlet Witch, Logan and Spider-Man are Midnight Sons adjacent so they’re fine

Roster, I do understand the need and desire to include more mainstream heroes for broader appeal, but I'd have preferred if some got knocked back into the season pass in favor of a few more magic/demonic characters in the base game.
I don't mind the gameplay being card based as an alternative to set cooldowns and hit percentages; but I've played Card Hunter (pretty similar) and Fights in Tight Spaces (sort of similar), so I've been used to the idea for nearly 10 years now.

Those are just the "unique" costumes for the game which every character gets. They'll have multiple unlockable costumes so you don't have to keep them in the shitty black and gold look.

Ultimate Alliance 3 had more Midnight characters than this. But I guess they have to sell this shit in order to pull the shots.
The original roster was closer to the 90s comic and had two dozen characters, but it got heavily reduced and in favor of popular Marvel picks instead of actual members
