nah, you're just too dumb to tell the difference between a slowly unfolding narrative and mysterybox.

but hey, most people were so burned by lost they've been forever poisoned against slowly unfolding narratives.

        >slowly unfolding narrative
nice cope for the show being shit and taking too long to explain anything. if I cant even guess what the major themes are in the first season then the show is shit, sorry.
the fact other anons have accused it of being a mystery box fest says alot. the 'dark photon' shit is blatant mystery box tier lore. like I dont mind scifi-tech that is unexplainable by modern terminology, thats fine. I dont mind scifi-tech even if its literally on the verge of magitech, but it has to play by certain rules for it to be believable. lightsabers from star wars are pushing it with the whole 'crystal emitter light beam contained by ions' bullshit but it gets a pass since star wars is for babies. this shit reads like some young adult novel crap
        >According to Carl, a Mithraic medical android, the instructions to build necromancers were allegedly found in ancient Mithraic scripture. They make use of a technology based on "dark photons", which were supposedly discovered as a result of messages encoded in Mithraic scripture.
        >muh ancient tech that can do literally anything with zero explanation discovered in muh ancient mormon texts that no one can understand
like, these are the sorta ideas I came up with when I was in 9th grade and wrote my first scifi. this is the sorta idea you get after playing video games too much, and you want video game shit in your deep adult scifi show even when its absurd and breaks all logic. like I honestly felt nothing when lamia wiped out pretty much the entire mithraic civilization because it was so absurd and nonsensical that I didnt care. I didnt care when lamia wiped out the atheist civilization either because its apparently just what she does and no one can stop her because shes just an unstoppable death mommy with unexplainable magic science superpowers alright? trust the science

Black person it just got better. The show was clearly setting up some sort of circular timeline. What happened in the past is going to happen again. An entity that holds a grudge against sapient organic life is the most original antagonist in years.

eh, the scifi im writing is better. lotta just weird ideas that mighta been cool if applied better. lotta 'mystery box' kinda bullshit. why did they decide to stuff the robot eyes down the guys throat? idk. why did the robot eyes give the vikings guy superpowers? idk. why did the guy who stuffed robot eyes down vikingmans throat decide that crucifying him to a fricking god-tree was a good idea? idk. like he keeps trying to kill him in these autistic, symbolic ways that just keep ending up giving him superpowers because he decides to try to kill him with some arcane technological device that he cant even fathom. like why cant he just shoot him in the head? blah blah blah he wants to make it painful, so shoot him in the hand and stomach first and then the head like cartels do, stupid frick. i honestly like most of the show but its just so autistic and moronic in its logic. like yeah i know what a lahmia is, its neat that you know what a lahmia is too ridley scott. what does it have to do with anything? like the robot lady literally being named lahmia and having removable death beam eyes just makes it moronic. its alot of 'le deep mythological references and symbolism' but it doesnt really go anywhere or tie into any major themes or anything, at least in a way thats comprehensible and cohesive. a much worse version of prometheus. at least prometheus wasnt quite as up its own ass about the whole ' i just read a book on greek mythology and it like, blew my mind' bullshit. what is he even trying to do with this? again the scifi I am currently writing is better check it out

its an anti-natalist show. lamia was a mythical monster that ate children to avenge the deaths of her own at the hands of the gods. todays culture is about women being right no matter what atrocities including infanticide they commit. dont forget she killed the majority of mithraic children and only took the ones she could

hey, hey, remember that bit later in the first season where they flash back to when mother's "eggs" all died due a childish mistake from one of her other kids? which establishes a steady descent into insanity as "her" children die one by one while she's unable to protect them? Then she goes WMD and literally destroys the best hope for survival for her remaining child?

Gee. I wonder what the hell that could've meant.

It's quite frustrating to see studios like Netflix and Disney trying to push for a black protagonist, only to face backlash and animosity. However, this particular show manages to present a highly relatable and likable black co-protagonist and they canceling it while the thrash shows continue with their forced bushman protagonist? What's their issue, really?

I was surprised when I liked Father. I initially stopped watching the show the second I noticed the first two chracters are a mixed race couple. but it accurately depicts white coalburners as child-killing psychopaths so thats fine

Father was extremely sympathetic and the victim of Lamia's unhinged ways, while he did everything for the children and showed the most humanity towards them as an droid. I was amazed at how likable he was compared to the rest.

Did a nosedive in season 2, so not surprising.

Was bold of them to go from good enough CGI in season 1 to something out of a 1990s videogame in season 2. Made the show feel extremely cheap.

Not really. Season 3 would've been necessary to really know if the writers did know where they were going, but everything in season 3 had already been set up, just like everything in season 2 had already been set up.
