If it had just been a direct sequel to the original Peter Pan it would have been kino. But Spielberg just had to age Peter up so he could have kids and the whole thing could be about the strained family dynamic he obsesses over in almost every fricking movie. There's a pretense there that the film is somehow about maturity and growing up but really it's just him guilt tripping his parents about their divorce AGAIN.
I found Ready Player One refreshing because it was one of the rare Spielberg films that didn't harp on this theme so much
no, Lynch is right about that one. The aesthetic survived the process but the narrative is borderline incoherent. Villenueve's going to get 5+ hours to tell the story Lynch had to cram into 2. It was more or less an impossible task. Lynch's Dune is like a cliff's notes version
Watch the restored version that adds another hour (I think) of cut film, makes that point a bit better.
Otherwise I enjoy the movie as is, since the story is still functional.
No, it's a fan restored version with a bunch of different sources, some of them being betacam production rips of questionable quality. Still worth a watch imo.
Although Julia Roberts is a hot piece of ass, her entire performance (especially where she wishes herself big and kisses (child-minded) Peter) are the only flaws of the film.
If Spielberg had only discovered Tom Hanks a decade earlier and cast him as Peter, and recast Tink as ANYONE ELSE except Julia Roberts everything would have been alright
It's still a good if flawed movie with some of Spielberg's best directing ever
Felters????????????????????????????
>feltered
it's really not that good
it falls apart in the second act and some of the editing choices are straight up bizarre
it has three acts and you didnt even name a “bizarre” editing choice. FILTERED.
I just like the scene where hook tries to kill himself for attention.
lol, that was kino

I loved the movie as a kid and never realized it was so controversial until way later.

something needed to remind him of who he was and why he was there.
I guess, but it felt really really forced
it was fan-fictiony but it also worked. especially since he rejected her.
Bob Hoskins is amazing in every scene and Hoffman is pretty good as well.
>Spielberg hates Hook
>has no problem at all with the BFG, Ready Player One, and Bridge of Spies

felchers?

It should have been a musical but Spielberg is a no-talent.
Also he was caught molesting the boys which is why he "hates" this movie
