Movies don't even feel like movies anymore? Like they're all made by algorithms. It's "content to consume". There's no humanity, no ambiguity, beauty, complexity, meaning. Sterilized, uniformized, homogenized. When's the last time you saw something that felt genuinely uplifting, or thought provoking, something that felt like it was made by a three-dimensional human?

What a unique and thought provoking take. You seem very wise. Thank you for this post, you've really opened my eyes.
Why the sarcasm?
because im sick of reading "modern movies are so trash lol"
be original or don't make a thread you fricking idiot
Or maybe more people are starting to realize modern movies are simply total dogshit. Maybe if you didnt browse this board religiously seeing the same thread once in a while wouldn't bother you that much.
OP made a thoughtful post that was far from 'modern movies are soo trash lol'.
Touch some grass, sperg.
t. modern movie enjoyer
modern movies are trash and you're a homosexual in denial
A Hidden Life by Terrence Malick
the last movie with soul that I watched was Dean Spanley (2008) but it was literally about souls and could easily be classified as geriatric bait same as Going in Style (2017)
Julien is peak human
Hell or High Water actually
One of the few movies of the last ten years or so that made me think the creator actually wanted to make it, as in was passionate about and invested in his creation rather than just trying to tick boxes and get the product shipped
Also this
Zahler is based, hope he directs some more movies soon
Cuck film
I loved licorice pizza. Setting, story, performances were soulfull, the movie was made with love.
Not many people watched it and the main criticism here is that the main actress isnt looking good enough.
>There's no humanity, no ambiguity, beauty, complexity, meaning. Sterilized, uniformized, homogenized.
Stop watching what's popular, and stop being so damn lazy that you make such laughable threads on Cinemaphile about the decline of the film industry when you have more choices than ever nowadays and the abundance of creative and interesting films is easily discovered with the usage of internet.
Under the Silver Lake, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, The Sister's Brothers, Bone Tomahawk, Hell or High Water, Sound of Metal, The Souvenir, The House That Jack Built, Parasite, Cold War, Hereditary, Phantom Thread, Licorice Pizza, Burning, Climax, Good Time, The Lighthouse, Silence, American Honey, Wind River, The Worst Person in The World, Another Round, Drive my Car
all that Dishonest letterboxd flavor of the week trash, utterly worthless
whatever c**t, at the end of the day it's the shit being produced now and some of it's pretty good, just cause you label shit because a certain crowd watches it and then jerk yourself off because you dont doesn't mean its not good
Ford vs Ferrari was the last movie I've watched that had soul.
Moonlight and I'm No Longer Here are the most recent films i've watched that had me glued to the screen and feeking something. Both feature sensitive young men whose lives are shaped by harsh circumstances, and there is a deep mood of sadness and regret for what they've lost/what could have been.
Everything mainstream is exactly like that, calculated and soulless drivel. No real humans consume that garbage.
I only watch movies pre 2008
I'm going to save cinema, see you in 5 years tops
I have more of an issue with the writer/producer’s political pontifications and all the other “current issues” shit they waterboard audiences with. I don’t even care about a movie having soul per-say, the thinly veiled propaganda is what gets on my breasts.
They exist, but you never heard of them and they made like 40k dollars at the box office.
>Scott Haze
>Gavis Lewis
>Trace Adkins
>Stephen Dorff
A bunch of good looking dudes in the cast yet the geniuses choose to put a weird motherfricker like Tim Blake Nelson not only as the protagonist but also as the only guy in the poster. It's almost like they were trying really hard not to sell the movie.
Everything after Covid has been complete and utter shit except top gun. That was the only film that felt like actual effort went into setting aside the corny love scenes. 2019 was the last year film makers actually tried with movies like parasite and once upon a time in hollywood. Even capeshit was better.
You guys are all naming movies made before Covid. That’s easy mode. Name good movies made after.
RRR
Qrd?
dude just shut your brain off and consume
99% of human beings aren't three-dimensional.
