It's both capeshit in a way but this is 'history' kino instead of cgi space battles. My thoughts? us history enjoyers have always been suffering so nothings changed.
Yes, I would love months of shill threads for The Iliad, starring blacks.
We're through the looking glass here, people. There will never be Hollywood kino again.
I like the movie, but some characterizations were infuriating. >Ajax the Great as you mentioned >Menelaus as a wife-beater that gets fricking killed by Hector >Helen falling for Paris and saying she wanted to run away from her husband >Agamemnon as Saturday morning cartoon power-hungry villain >Paris as some kind of dindu nuffin good boy where in the book he's a fricking egotistic c**t and a coward
IDK if it`s fair to blame it all on capeshit. I would say movies are only mirroring the cultural decadence. We were already getting stuff like Guy RItchie`s King Arthur, Sherlock Holmes or movies like a Knight`s tale were modern cultural elements needed to be inserted on the narrative to capture the interest of a generation with the attention span of a cat cub. My point being that since the movies are just a reflection, the cultural decadence would have kept advancing regardless of capeshit. If it weren`t super hero movies they would have some other equally damaging poison.
capeshit uni-ronically will ruin fun cinema
first we had the endless sequel prequel requel interconnected nothing verse rise of non-stories then it declines because its shit (i watched some but i mean i wouldnt even choose to watch a kapefilm given the option im probably not the audience) but now they will blame all the good parts capeshit failed at for its downfall *ohh people dont like massive intereconected stories* *ohh people dont like good CGI and comedy* *ohh people dont like galactic scale storylines or sci-fi concepts* ect ect and it will stop any good verson of a cape esqe film being realeased
people will look back in history at capeshit and compare it to book burnings or the churches supression of free thought
of all the greek mythology films, troy is among the worst and most disappointing
eventually there will be a film that revives sword and sandal films again
gladiator did it in 2000, and we're about 20 years past that, which is when things come back in fashion
>troy is among the worst and most disappointing
it's very "american", but also very enjoyable
Clash of Titans is far worse, even if you dislike troy you have to agree.
You mean near-butchering of the source material with 99% of the actors being ameribongs despite taking place in Bronze Age Mediterranean? Yeah, sad that this kind of non-"capeshit" doesn't get made anymore...
You do realize that roaches are bastardized as frick right? Especially the coastal ones. Even the sultans had all kinds of wives. Sorry Mahmoud, no pure Mongolian lineage for you.

Troy is awesome.
terrible movie
HECTOOOOOOOR
>HECTOOOOOOOR
That scene is fricking great.
>terrible movie
sorry shitskin but you are not represented in this movie
begone
Fact: You need chest hair to appreciate Troy
Why was this so bland?
It was just cashing in on the timing of lord of the rings.
too cramped, should have been two movies
It wasn't, you got filtered
Movies like that don't get made anymore because they wouldn't stop bombing

They turned Ajax into some gibbering meathead dumbass

hmm yea we really need a ~~*modern*~~ take on the Illiad
>here is you're Helen of Troy bro
because TROY flopped
>this was considered a popcorn summer flick unworthy of any serious attention when it came out
we didn't know how good we had it
That's how I feel about Conan. It was considered just a dumb violent action movie but by today's standards it's basically an art film.
You will never get The Odyssey staring Sean Bean made in he same style as Troy
the armand assante version is ok
>google Troy after watching Troy
>mfw it actually existed

I don't think anyone here denies that the decline in Hollywood's movies is a symptom of the cultural decline of the West.
Sherlock Holmes and A Knight's Tale are both good though.

the remake? probably, though I havent seen it
original clash of the titans is kino
clash of the titans is my favorite movie. No other movie hits me in my protective instincts like clash of the titans does
I do mean the remake. If you haven't seen it, do, if only just to appreciate kinos of the past a bit more.
I dont want to watch a movie just to make me like other movies better.
Fair enough
Que pasa, cabrón?
Such a shame we didn't get an odyssey sequel with Sean Bean, he was awesome as Odysseus.

Why would they be modern Greeks when the Ottomans didn't invade until thousands of years later?
