The Poet Society is stealthily a very reactionary movie. When the kid at the very end says "uh we actually learnt nothing" you're supposed to make a conclusion.

      >you're supposed to make a conclusion.
      What conclusion would that be?
Can you be a kind anon and explain what you mean in simpler and plain terms. The hour is late and my mind is too tired to form coherent thoughts yet I want to know more. So please guide me through the darkness so I can see the light of Truth

If you watched the movie, you know the kids "rebel" because they believe they will attain greater knowledge and meaning by rejecting advanced education and by "being free" which means just having weird Goonie rituals and trying to be cool hippies. The movies ends with them going back to school after they had their rebellious phase that was supposed to enlighten them, and their new teacher asks them if they know anything about realism period. They don't. Their little rebellion has taught them nothing.

you said 35 instead of 15 by mistake, my friend. A huge mistake would be wasting your youth here.

Pushing 40, have been here daily since early 2004. I just plain like it here. Never wanted to use facebook/twitter/etc and this thing is actually useful for keeping up on the stupid shit that the kids are into without having to consume much of it, which doesn't really matter for its own sake but can be helpful for basic cultural awareness so as not to seem too weird when you do interact with others. Parents naturally learn what younger people are into through their children, when you're a friendless loner and intentionally allow the friendships you did have to atrophy and die off as they variously partner up/have kids there's not much opportunity for that.

I don't even care about video games anymore, I started playing Saga Frontier about 20 years ago and I suddenly realized "I'm not enjoying this. So, I'll stop". No need to make more when the art form (if one can call it that) was perfected on the Super Nintendo. The remarkable thing about everything being the best when you're 14 years old is that it was actually true in my case (Pre 9/11/pre-covid, N64, DVDs, OK Computer, Big beat was getting airplay, peak American civilization)

(It Happened To Me in my late 20s).

This. If you're young and in here: then it's you who is wasting your time.

Also most of the neonazis here are poisoning your mind and you should ignore them (most adults are only taking it ironically or not at all).

when I was 13, we cut school and went to this absolutely gorgeous old-timey movie theater where the guy would let you into R18 films without checking your age.
