There's no architecture board or geography board. What if I want to talk about rocks, climates and types of soil? Nothing. But there's dozens of video game boards - it's indicative of the type of people who're supposed to use this site, though.

Cinemaphile and Cinemaphile occasionally get rock threads. Other earth science topics could go on Cinemaphile.

the art board is full of weeb coomers gooning over anime girls, Cinemaphile is low brow trash for autists

What art board? Artwork/critique seems to be strictly about the creative end and I don't see any other unless you count /hr/.(which gets it's share or architecture threads too but large images are required)

Seriously, why is Brutalism so fricking kino? It's minimalist yet monolithic and otherworldly all at once, making me feel like I'm standing right at the edge of infinity.

Only problem with Brutalism is it isn't practiced on a large enough scale. I want skyscrapers built like dams, walls dozens of feet thick

The problem with brutalism is that raw concrete ages like shit and when it starts to crack you can't easily fix the damage. Brutalist landmarks are well taken care of but less well known brutalist buildings look like total shit today.

Because brutalism, like the phrase 'kino' and most cold war era movies that everyone considers "the best of all time", is all rooted in leftist postmodernism. And modern day society is so thoroughly subverted by leftist philosophy that everyone is wistfully nostalgic for dystopian hellscapes.

Keep crying. you lost. MUH TRADITION is dead for good and thank fricking god you stuffy fricks are getting wiped out. "leftism" and "rightism" are two different names for Authoritarianism. You're not a "traditionalist" or a "conservative" or even a :"rightist". you're a fat piece of shit incel and complete shut in with no social skills crying for a world that would've shunned him and had you institutionalized in a heartbeat.

Give the frick up and just enjoy the ride while it lasts you whining Black personhomosexual. You lost, before you even started to understand what was going on.

Yeah, 343 really fricked up the forerunner aesthetic by making everything overly-complicated and shiny with glowing lights everywhere. The original designs were kino because these were the leftover structures of a civilization from hundreds of thousands of years ago. All ornamentation would've deteriorated eons ago, leaving behind only the brutalist backbones of the structures.

Or it was designed to last thousands and thousands of years, and anything that wasn't going to last would've been left out.

Hitler had many spectacular and correct ideas, but german autistic bigness fixation is stupid, and with architecture it is unsightly. German medievalism offers much better living spaces.

Speer wrote in hindsight something like it would probably look bad if actually finished.
he and hitler made the new district in massive proportions, straight roads and in an uniform (neo-classical) design, which on the ground would make it look sterile, empty and lifeless

The misunderstanding with this style (aside from the obvious thinking it means 'brutal' not 'brut' ie raw, ie showing the concrete that holds the building up without cornices or plasticy facade over it) is that none of you have actually seen these buildings in real life and so you don't get to see what actually happens, which is what they're designed for, which is a large part of the building being sky. You look at pictures of ones that are in england or russia or some shit where they don't have blue sky so of course those look awful. They're meant to reflect sky which is then integrated between the rocklike/silver concrete like evoking a gemstone vein or a diamond set in silver. You're just looking at a setting with no awareness that a diamond goes there
