Is fantasia the pretentious Disney movie?

No wait, maybe 2000 is even more pretentious.

      Yes, yes it is.

Can a film like Fantasia ever be financially successful? Both films flopped pretty bad when they premiered, and despite those movies becoming much more profitable later on, I don't see modern audiences caring much about a new Fantasia (if one were to release today.)

I truly don't understand why mickey is so beloved. I guess I had to be there, like, over 80 years ago. It's not like I hate him or anything but I just don't see what sets him apart

You really had to be there. Mickey really is just a mascot now, but he was an animated celeb during his time. Infact, I kind of like to think of fantasia being his peak role. After that is when he was pushed aside for Donald, Goofy, and other big cartoons like the loony tunes and Tom and Jerry.

The old cartoons are pretty great although I've always been more of a Donald Duck fan.

Unrelated but why don't they ever use that Donald theme that played in the beginning of every Donald toon? Shit was a bop.

Imagine being the guy who was payed to yell "all hail hitler" in a Donald duck voice...what would be going through your mind?

He's a funny looking guy. He dances, he sings. He can even make hotdogs. I think that mickey mouse guy is a swell man.

You should read the old Mickey Mouse 1930s comic strip.

Most people only talk about these comics cuz "luk mickey tried to kill himself that one time" but these strips are actually incredibly good.

I find it really strange that most young people hate mickey mouse in every other context, but in Kingdom hearts, everyone all the sudden likes him again. Do you really need to give a near 100 year old Americans cartoon character a JRPG weapon and a school shooter coat to be cool with teens and young adults now?

network tv would play these classic cartoons and I would watch them out of necessity since there was nothing else on. It wasn't till fox kids that animation became modernized and they played casper and bobbie's world. Eek the cat with it's witty silliness and parodies of pop culture film really exemplify how much had changed. Mexico really turned my life around because they broadcast anime like mikami and ranma 1/2 when that wasn't completely unheard of in the US.

For me, it was bootleg vhs' and DVDs. Got to watch alot of the Disney toons that way. Some of my favorite Disney cartoons were always be silly symphonies. Shit will always be hood kink. Mickey and Donald toons would be a very (very) close second.

Which tv networks played classic Disney cartoons?

The nbc affiliate played the road runner and foghorn leghorn cartoons. Although, because of them being visual and without dialogue I think some of the mexican stations broadcast them as well.

If they are going to do this they may as well have made a live action version too

The whole point of even filming an actor though is to creat life like animation while adding more emotion to your character. Besides, animation gives room to create interesting worlds you can't in love action.

The first one of Disney films (late 30s to early 40s), the 50s, and be early 2000s were the best eras for WDAS. The renaissance was alright but most people now can look back and see that not all of those films were amazing.

Stokowski is a shit conductor that ruins everything he conducts with sloppy, melodramatic indulgence. Though I suppose he's fine for children.
