She's absolutely right, this is the attitude all actors should have. She didn't fund it, write it, film it, record the sound, provide vfx, direct it, edit it, or market it. She wasn't even a solo lead, she was part of an ensemble. She read the lines the way they told her to, looked and acted the way they told her to, and nothing else. Blaming her for the flop is just stupid, she knows that.

That’s the attitude that actors who don’t work have.

        Anonymous

Nah it's a healthy attitude for anyone who makes something as part of a team. If every bad decision around the movie happened way above her pay grade, why should she feel obligated to shoulder the blame? If you do exactly what your boss tells you to do, exactly how and when they tell you to do it, is it your fault if it doesn't work? She did the job that was asked of her, not her fault the company's a shit show.

Yeah, but any reasonable person with an IQ over 50 knows to shut their fricking mouth
If you don't care about the movie's reception beyond what your mom think, why the frick would you say that out loud?

Because she has a spine? She isn't willing to sit there and be blamed for a flop that is clearly not her fault? If anything, the attitude of "That's Iger's problem" could be desirable for other producers and directors; it shows she isn't so self-important that she thinks the whole project lives or dies on her performance alone. Sounds like she'd be pretty easy to work with.

              >Sounds like she'd be pretty easy to work with.
I would NEVER hire a person for my company that thinks "lol I don't care if the company bombs"
Now tell me what would I do for someone that outright tells that on the record
This board is filled with fricking 14yo that never worked a day in their lives huh

Why would she care tho. What can she do about it other had the job you hired for?

If I was hired for a company that I care about, and that company goes bankrupt, I would probably say "dang, that's sad" and move on. Do you want actors to pay for the damage of a flopping movie?

                Anonymous

You've never managed staff, that much is clear. I would much rather have a team of people that show up every day and do what they're told for better or worse than a bunch of entitled, self-important pricks who second-guess every decision, stick their nose into things above their pay grade, then act like they deserve all the credit for any success that the whole team worked for.
She's basically saying "I did what was asked, I did it to the best of my ability, and I'm proud of the work I did. Making the movie a profitable product is not my job, acting is."
Sounds like an ideal employee to me.

        >bad casting
She wasn't actually consulted on the casting of the movie; she was cast in it. Meaning her very presence in the movie was someone else's decision. Maybe she was wrong for the role, or maybe the character shouldn't have existed but again these were not her decisions. All she did was audition and then show up every day and do what she was told. They could see her, they saw her performances every single day, and decided every day to keep her in the movie. If the movie flops as a direct result of her presence, it was someone else's fault for casting her in the first place, or not directing her properly. And we all know she's not going to be the worst thing about this movie.

If the performance is genuinely unsalvageable, or if they refuse to do certain things as scripted, refuse to do re-shoots, cause problems on set that delay production, lots of stuff can be blamed on the actor. But if you watch this movie and find yourself thinking "Man this would be awesome if it wasn't for that one girl's acting style" I'll be shocked. The thing looks like a poorly thought out, badly written mess full of girl power cliches. The MCU is a sinking ship, and she's not steering it. Nothing wrong with her pointing that out.

                >so blinded by hate that even the obvious answers are omitted
I think it's partly because of big name actors also sometimes being producers, writers and directors. When the lead is filling a bunch of roles behind the scenes they can shoulder a lot more of the blame if it turns out bad, but that doesn't mean every actor is responsible for the box office results. But yeah people are also just hating on her for no reason.
                >I believe you can also blame the actors for bad publicity
Yeah publicity too, how many projects have been delayed, altered, or even shelved entirely because some butthole actor got caught breaking the law or causing some other scandal? Frustrating.

Yeah, I've definitely seen stuff where one or two actors were the thing dragging it down, but this whole movie looks like hot mess. It's on the writers, director, studio heads, etc. Probably Brie as well, since she's a tad unlikable.

You can blame a movie flopping on bad actors, but it’s not their fault per se. The directors, producers, and studio picked the actors, evaluated the actors and their acting abilities, and decided they wanted to hire/keep them. So was she a bad actor and a shit character and part of why the movie failed? Yes. But is it her fault she was hired and her character was created? No, she just auditioned for a role and took a job. Hence the box office isn’t her problem and she’s not concerned with it, she’s just concerned with what she was hired to do, be a shitty actor in a shitty role. Bob Iger can worry about the box office and the consequences of his decision.

It’s her fault she opened her mouth and shit talked the studio. In the old days the Publicist and agent specifically protected their talent from moronic shit like this. What are the talent agencies even doing anymore letting this fricking idiots speak whatever they want?

How’d she shit talk the studio by saying the movie bombing isn’t her problem to deal with? Why is it her problem to deal with, and how should she go about doing that? She’d be shittalking the studio if she said part of why the movie homes is because her character sucked and her acting sucked and the writing sucked, and everything else about the movie sucked and it should have never been made that way and they should have hired different people and used different characters, etc. What did you want her to say lol

You have to be baiting for (you)s at this point.

What she should have said: “I think we made a really great film. I would like to thank the support from the studio who really stood behind this film. People may say it’s not a critical success, but I think in years to come audiences will consider it a cult classic.”

That is basically the standard response that all actors have been given by their publicity team when they star in a bomb. It shows they can laugh off the results and still support the studio chiefs. Try to throw anyone else in the industry under the bus (especially the studio) and Hollyisraelite remembers that shit and black lists you.

That’s not really what she said though. What else is she supposed to say? She’s obviously not going to apologize for being a fat paki no one wanted to see on camera along with b***h Larson and token Black person directed by token Black person injecting feminist and other woke bullshit onto camera. Like she said, that’s bob igers problem to deal with, he wanted to do all that stuff, offered the money to fund, and they took the job.

Stupid reasoning. No actor wants to be labled and considered 'box office cancer', and every actress and actor wants to be considered a box office draw. It's how actors like Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks all made long and impactful careers. Sometimes in your career, you have to look in the mirror, and at yourself for the success or failure of that which is bigger than the sum of it's parts. Not caring about the critical or commercial success of something you work on is for losers.

She said the box office bombing isn’t her problem and not something she can control, not that she’s not worried about it. Clearly she’s worried about it because she wants to get more roles and make more money, but she’s not gonna say “hey maybe I shouldn’t have been cast in this movie and this character shouldn’t exist because no one wants to see it” because why would she want to erase her job?

She should care. If her character isn’t popular they won’t use her anymore.

The box office and success of a film is not the responsibility of the actors, but it is also idiotic to think that they have no impact on it.

Hiring famous actors is better for pre-launch marketing. How to hire talented actors is better after the release, with the reviews and even the awards.

There will also be cases like Margot Robbie who was involved in both the production and marketing of Barbie. The success or failure of the film would be her responsibility, regardless of her performance.

As there is also the case of Rachel Zagler in the new Hunger Games. All her controversy and fame directly affected the film's box office, both the people who will or won't go because of her

Bob Iger really is the person who should be most concerned about the box office of Marvel films. But it's also not smart for you to imply that your boss's boss is to blame for the failure of the project you were hired to work on.

A movie with an unknown character or actress bombing makes a lot more sense.

            Anonymous

Blaming a flop on the sidekick is stupid, people will watch movies filled with unknowns if there's someone in it they like. Brie couldn't bring in the numbers she was supposed to; she was the big name lead.

              Anonymous

Brie was an indie starlet before being in MCU, she never had a track record of carrying a movie or having a large, commercial following. Not sure why they thought putting her in a standalone movie would make money. Captain Marvel only made money because it was right after Infinity Wars, but few people enjoyed it.

                Anonymous

Fair but she wasn't the problem in that movie, the script was. It broke the basic plot structure of literally every single standalone MCU movie that came before it, they fricked with the basic formula out of a misguided sense of feminism and we ended up with an unlikable Mary Sue. But not her fault.

Kamala's show was the least watched on D+ out of them all. The character/actress have no draw.

Kamala and to a lesser extent Miles Morales are a product of nuMatvel that diehard fans didn't really care for.
In recent years Miles' popularity has been boosted by the well made Spider-Verse movie, but he's still ultimately playing second fiddle to Peter.
I know literal black people who dislike Miles and prefer Peter.

The plot was also garbage. I dropped it when the "villains" showed up. What was it, an ancient community of immortals trapped in another world, and she's their only way back, right? They've been waiting centuries or millennia or whatever, but as soon as she hesitates to go along with their plan for even a second they immediately try to force her, making an enemy out of her. A plot point that could so easily be resolved by the antagonist just chilling out for a second and having some patience, something an ancient race of people should definitely have.
Same reason I didn't like the plot of Guardians 2. Ego was a celestial who'd been alive for billions of years (or whatever) waiting for a son who shared his power, building a mountain of corpses of failed offspring, and then gives Quill 30 seconds to decide whether or not to join him. Billions of years of waiting, and he can't chill out for like a day. He should have said "You know what Peter, you go on ahead and live your live, I'll see you again in a century or two. Once everyone you've ever known or loved has died, maybe you'll see things my way." But no he got impatient and made an enemy out of the one being he's been waiting for his whole existence. Good plan.

It's not just for Bob Iger though, is it.
if you want to be an actress, you want people to watch you. An actress who nobody watches isn't an actress. So the fact nobody wanted to watch a film with you in it is a relevant data point.

This girl must have a well connected parent in media/film or something, it's almost unheard of for some random, then 18 year old at a Canadian Highschool to be cast as the lead in a MCU movie, especially considering she isn't attractive or very strong on screen. It'd be one thing if she were Biel or youn Winslet tier but she isn't even close. I don't buy the story of her aunt submitting her for the casting call, something more dubious must have taken place. It baffles me.

Sounds like one of the movie people raped her, so they had to buy her silence.

They got an unknown person so that upper management can say to themselves "we did everything right, the actor just lacked the charisma to draw an audience." It's harder to make that excuse with actors with a good track record.

You realize these people probably fricked her whole career, right? Imagine getting the chance to be in a huge movie from an incredibly successful IP only for every person involved to make horrible decisions that result in a terrible final product. She's allowed to be upset that all her work was for nothing and that her onscreen debut was a flop, and she knows who's responsible. She already knows they'll never cast her in a big project like this again, why not go down swinging?

Because if you kiss the israelites’ asses and show that you are good goyim, they will forgive you and give you another role in some Disney show. Of course she will also have let some circumcised dick be placed up her ass, but that’s the price of fame and money.

      >What do you think of The Marvels?
This is the first superhero movie with multiple female superheroes with different racial identities produced in the Western Hemisphere post-COVID, which makes it a historical moment that I'm proud to be a part of.
      >Okay but what do you think about it flopping?
Due to our chaotic, post-Trump political environment we are more divided than ever. Even during and shortly after the Civil War™ we at least could all go to the theater together. Just ask Lincoln. While the failure of the alt-right audience (who we really expected to watch our movie for some reason) to buy tickets may have caused a small loss financially, we cannot forget the profound social impact that this movie has made now and in the future.
