I don't think she's the boss
obviously the vault boss sent her out there to risk her life because she's not important
Spicy pepe
You don't. Making an adaptation of a video game has and always been fricking moronic.
this guy is a gay and lacks imagination, probably votes democrat too
Laying groundwork for the “it was always bad” crowd, nice job anon
>has and always been
moron or esl, frick off either way
I would make it a psychological survival horror. Every wasteland creature would be fricked up, horribly scarred up and barely recognizable in behavior. Raiders would be rapists, like Hamas, and the enclave would be racists like the nazis
Obviously with a straight white male actor as the main character, a straight white male character who is a reformed raider as a sidekick, a German Shepard as a sidekick, and a robot sidekick.
They’re trying to find a water chip. You know… kinda how the games go.
fricking stupid
the main character should be a super mutant who chops up people and eats them
Based vore enthusiast
That's not vore, moron.
Wow just like haiti
looks fricking stupid
I would simply not make it for I am not an IP-mining bawd
Vault Dweller sent out into wasteland to scout out the land. Takes place between Fallout 1 or 2 and is set in Arizona so that new places and factions can be introduced while still being close enough to California to do member berries shit with NCR and Enclave. Vault dweller travels from town to town, each episode is a mostly self contained adventure similar to the first season of Mandolorian.
A israeliteess, a blek and a mutilated probably white dude. Yeah I'm thinking were black i mean back.
I've never and will never watch a show/movie/media with a female as the lead figure or protagonist.
Same. I was never that way but years of nonstop misandry does things to a mofo.
Same shit with movies starring black people.
Makes me wonder if that's the dei pushing israelites goal.
This homie hasn't watched Alien
or terminator
or wizard of oz
That's the only one I give a pass to due to Siggy. The rest, every single one, are awful. A European man should be the protagonist for any story to have legitimacy.

There is litrally not a single piece of fiction where this doesn't apply
king. women are not capable of agency.
Female leads work in horror movies, but little else
It’ll be fine
Ironically Fallout is the only video game with chops that can survive this nuclear adaption
The main girl leaves the vault and gets turned into my babymaking slavewife Day 1.
I wouldn't make a single thing. I would listen.

for a non woke era this would be a valid plot point. Sadly this is not the case
This is true as is evident in the trailer. It's actually funny how much Cinemaphile whines about modern female characters being woke Mary Sues when in the trailer it's obvious that she will go through a hero's journey, from a moron to a toughened up character. The show still looks a bit wonky but I just hate it when people raise shitty points that are not true.
>hero's journey
It's not 1985, it's 2024. Her arc will be realizing that she's always been awesome and powerful and should never listen to a man.
>but it's not out yet how could you know...
I own a calendar
They literally show her as a wasteland novice and the ghoul is going to teach her shit or escort her somewhere. The BoS guy will teach her a lot of shit too I'm assuming.
Guarantee she discovers new things they didn't know and ends up.teaching them. It's almost illegal to portray a female character any other way.
It's Fallout of course the protagonist will have special agency.
Well she did grow up in a vault with a school and all of the knowledge of the wold world etc. Vault dwellers are pretty well educated with a lot of subjects except living in the wastes typically
>*knowledge of the old world
The hero's journey is not a female endeavor. It's completely nonsensical for a female character.
>Thinking women will be sexualized in the year of our Fauchi 2024
>No forced blacks/women
>Stick to the lore

One thing reddit has yet to DEEBUUUUNNK is why they are such insufferable mob mentality cringefest. Also reddit has never played F1 and F2 so they cant form anything resembling arguments regarding west coast fallout in the first place

I will now watch your goyslop
I would make an adaptation of Fallout 3 about a father and his son, and I would get Liam Neeson to reprise his roll.
I would make a show about a good vault dweller and a bad vault dweller. Scenes would play with either one of them making big decisions and gaining appropriate companions until they finally meet up with each other and duel. The one who learned the most, was best equipped and has the better army wins and secured the fate of the wasteland
what if one of the vault experiments was 2 different vaults were separate but connected through comms and protocols, etc and maybe had to compete for resources so they were psyoped to be extremely competitive with one another and then one day they left one of the vaults so the other left as well and they took their rivalry out into the wasteland?
Anthology show with a very loose framing story.
>courier: jon hamm OR clint eastwood's son
>benny: neil patrick harris
>mr house: kevin spacey
>boone: javier bardem
>caesar: gary oldman OR joaquin phoenix
>kimball: christian bale
>father elijah: denzel washington
>the lonesome drifter: tom cruise
>yes man: chris rock
>arcade gannon: robert downey jr
>oliver swanick: todd howard
Yeah, I know. It's perfect.
i like to shill scott eastwood as much as anyone but the dude is a shit actor, there's a reason he doesn't get starring roles, he has all of his father's looks and none of the talent
>Yeah, I know. It's perfect.

>John is the generator engineer
>Ok what about that dumb b***h with no use or skills?

peaky blinders but fallout world it's that simple.
Honestly it looks alright, but I feel like fallout lends itself well to wide interpretation.
With not a girl boss.
Flopout
HORMY fror booaoba
I would make it a TV show based on Fallout 76
>all characters have a huge username above their head, but never comment on it
>immediately after leaving the vault, the MC gets ambushed by two guys in pink power armor who dump stimpaks and food on him until he can't move
>every episode is the MC trying to complete a fetch quest but random other people come in and frick around with it.
>series finale is he finally gets into the nuclear silo and launches a nuke at someone with troony flags all over their house
I'd go about not making it.
Fallout protagonists are terminators that are a threat to anything unfortunate to be withing render distance of them. This usually doesnt translate well into movies/tv shows
It would be better to just have a Walking Dead style show where the main character joins a band of survivors that wanders around trying to make thing better while having to survive raiders, super mutants, ghouls, deathclaws, old army robots, etc.
game protagonists are terminators in the context that your loaded save game becomes the new canon every time you die
i'm sure most people got btfo by deathclaws and supermutants shooting nukes at them dozens of times by the time they reach the end credits
I feel an anthology would be cool that way you can write stories on different aspects of the wasteland.
It would be animated. We would get professional voice actors.
>Ok, how would YOU go about making a Fallout show then?
Do the new vegas story with the yes man ending with a little more nuance. And with a white male main character and very little race mixing.
I want Todd Howard to be raped to death for making this canon.
I wouldn't. Adaptations, let alone a fricking VIDEOGAME adaptation, are all utter trash. This show is blatantly not based on any of the games and is simply going to be yet another example of corpos trying to stuff propaganda into a suit made of the skin of something that was popular.
Just do Van Buren.
Protag is a prisoner, not a vault dweller, there's a pre-war plague on the loose, and the more people get sick the closer the antag gets to being able to wipe out the area with nukes.
What's the problem with it being Black folk? It's not like the story has you forced to be a white character.
Just adapt the fricking games. And because the majority of Fallout fans are straight white men, have a straight white male protagonist. It's not complicated.
Make it post-apocalyptic Game of Thrones, unironically. The thing that a lot of people don't realize somehow is that Fallout is not a survival game, it's an RPG in post-apocalyptic setting. Like, you think "duh", right, but difference is fricking huge. Fallout is the only post-apocalyptic thing (that's not literature, there are probably books about same thing) that doesn't even bother to ask the question if civilization will survive the apocalypse, it definitively says civilization will survive and is about civilizations that either adapt to post-apocalypse (most humans, especially BoS), want to cut their losses from it (Enclave), born from it (Caesar's Legion) or embrace it (Ghouls and Super Mutants). It's not about survival of a man, it's about survival of civilization as a concept, in comparison to Mad Max copycats that just embrace degeneracy and anti-life behavior.
And the man who understands this least is Todd Howard, which is why East Coast looks like Mad Max for some fricking reason and NCR is pretty much confirmed to be destroyed. Todd hates Fallout more complex than a pile of radioactive sand.
Can you gays stop trying to make everything Game of Thrones?
Game of Thrones sucked.
Don't watch slop, Cinemaphile, ignore it.
5 year plan:
Fallout 1:
>standard 13 episode season
>protag is a man in his late 20's, vault dweller so he's a nice, sheltered, good person
>most interactions involve him getting conned, betrayed, badly treated and just meeting buttholes
>gets more gruff and hardened as time goes on, is essentially corrupted by the wastes
>closely follow the game's plot. NCR is formed, Master is dead, all the good guy shit
>kills overseer in the ending
>meet Kellog from F4 in one episode to set up continuity
>main companions are Tandi and Dogmeat
Fallout 2:
>main character is a brown native looking boy in his mid-20s
>instead of your standard good guy he's a conniving trickster
>wears a leather jacket instead of the jumpsuit
>most of his interactions involve conning or charming people
>companions are John, Vic and Miria, with Marcus appearing to setup NV
>meet prez Tandi for the continuity
>closely follow the canon endings
Fallout 3
>main character is an 18 year old girl straight outta the vault
>has to harden a lot more quickly, can't handle the wastes and the pressure of leading the BoS fight, she is quite literally just a lost child looking for her dad
>escapes sexual abuse in an early episode
>ends up the most broken of the protags
>no full-time companion cause they're all shit, but most make an appearance
New Vegas
>Two seasons long story
>protag is a clint eastwood lookalike, ripped straight out of a spaghetti western
>all of the companions appear and interact with each other, they grow to become a full family
>first season is the hunt for Benny, ends with him getting fricking killed
>second season is the power hunt by House, Legion and the NCR with the Courier right in the middle
>NCR ending
>dedicate 2 episodes to tell Dead Money
>ending implies Courier and Cass ended up together
Same as this, because pissing off chuds is fun and more important than anything else, but with better writing.
You dedicated your entire life to putting dresses on your brothers GI Joes.
No. I dedicated my life to putting you in mass graves. Which , going by the male suicide rate, is working.
No.
I want The Legion and Lanius to show up and make me shit my pants in the same vain as The Walking Dead Issue 100 Something To Fear.
>vain
Good morning sar
>everyone dies in her vault
Why couldn't this just be a take on Fallout 1?
Why does every vault have to be a schizo mess?
Why are they using the iconic contemplative love music if it's just going to be an action flick where a girl protag just gets constantly told "You die now, lol, lmao" as she strives to be the most pathetic person in the world and is literally laughed at by everyone?
Even the Cat-in-the-Hat-esque starting piece with advertising the vault and that birthday cake just has undertones of being sinister and only existing to say "Haha, it's evil and fake! Yo in da real wurld now, homie!"
There isn't even any wild/spaghetti west lineage in this. Nor punk. Nor anything. It's just corpo slop.
Reflavour pic related for the first two or three episodes. Go from there.
too short
This is why I suggested to only use the plot for the first two or, at most, three episodes. At the end, Ella Purnell's character can be as useful to the wandering duo as Susanne Benton's was in the film, and the story can go further exploring their wacky adventures in the wasteland.
Movie looks to light hearted for my taste. You just know the cast will never be in any real danger as they cruise along. Was hoping for a series that takes itself seriously. I expect lots of situational jokes and "references". Not a great look.
Remake Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, but instead of Umbrella plotting to kill all the genetically impure, it's the Enclave.
>I have never played a fallout game
>let me tell you why this is bad and wrong
these threads are hilarious
Yeah people being excited for toddslop while pretending to be fallout fans are embarrassing
Might as well pretend Fallout doesn't exist anymore after Fallout 4 and 76% Off
Don’t - I repeat DON’T google her boobs.
>muh girl boss
>it's being established throughout the trailer that she's a naive idiot
She will survive (through plot armor) to become a 'girl boss'.
For the first half of the season she's naive, but after the ghoul mentor dies she becomes hardened. But she finds out from the leader of the others that vault tec is le bad so she doesn't return to her vault after the story and becomes a wastelander instead.
There's a fallout graphic novel called All Roads, not sure if there are other media that's official and non-games media but I would hazard a guess and say "yes".
If we lived in the based time line
>bleak athmosphere
>mostly ambient noises and understated soundtrack like fallout 1/2
>only humor is dark humor
>protag (straight white male) is a cheeky bastard and not a emo downer
>maybe has a wife and his vault has a rule that sex is only limited to once a year or something due to population control
>as soon as he hits the wasteland he fricks everything with 2 legs
>gets him into trouble constantly (mob bosses wife see fallout 2)
>season 1-2 is fallout 1 (find watership, defeat mutant plague)
>seasons 3-4 are fallout 2's plot
Couldn't you play Fallout 1 as a woman as well? What's the problem with this.
Nobody gives a shit about girlboss or a Black person. They butchered the fricking NCR and canon in general. That's the main issue.
What cannon did they butcher?
>DEIslop
Next
im just not gonna watch it is all
The main char should have been a young blond white male like the Pipboy mascot, and equally as oblivious to the dangers of the wasteland as its 50s presentation, and not this pixie dream girl. That should be obvious to any Fallout fan, the girl is out of place.
What would be the purpose of making the lead look like a faux-50's cartoon mascot?
the character would lend itself to comedic moments with his wide eyed golly gee gosh mister! attitude coupled with a natural physical aptitude when that got him in trouble. In the end he'd grow into this gritty action hero with his vault suit all fricked up and holding a hot chick in his off-hand like in the promo art for the original Fallout.
she's wearing it wrong
>more girlboss garbage bankrolled by blackrock
Don't care, won't watch.
I’m a Fallout 3/NV homosexual so I defer to F1/2 fans for how Fallout should be portrayed.
What I will say is it doesn’t match my conception of Fallout.
My main issue isn’t the DEI stuff. It’s annoying but female wanderer is acceptable. My problem is the tone portrayed in the trailer. Not getting that sense of atmosphere.
Bigger than that, Fallout as a game pushes the player to act as a scrounging survivalist loot goblin, the exact opposite of a naive stumbling fish out of water.
So you just want a show about a b***h going around looking for office fans so she can have enough screws to build a bed for her settlement? That sounds gay
I’d prefer a bleaker story that dials down the reddit about 50%, and focuses more on survival than le saving the world, at least initially. The trailer makes it look like they’re going for epic setpieces and a large scale conflict where the larger plot takes enormous precedence. Fallout to me is predominantly a small tale in a wider world that eventually leads to something climactic, not the world revolving around the player.
Fallout is "reddit".
Correct, Fallout always has a dash of reddit, but predictably they are leaning more into it and now it’s sitting just under borderlands, hence “toning down” the reddit not eliminating the reddit.
That's new. How the frick is it "reddit"?
Since F4 it's le chungus wasteland adventures
Oh, in that context - yeah. Should've said
>Fallout is "reddit" now
Quirky ironic world, appropriating the 50’s as an aesthetic while safely bashing it, silly meme characters, etc. I like Fallout but it’s always been a little reddit. I think it tends to be “good” reddit, but the show is giving me “bad” reddit.
>not the world revolving around the player.
Vault dweller killing the master and ending the threat of the mutants to the west coast.
Chosen one blowing up the oil rig and ending a plot for world domination
Lone wanderer, Courier and Sole Survivor are the opposite. Vault Dweller especially is like a deity.
Now read the full sentence in context.
Yes, at the end of an RPG campaign, your player should have a significant role in the fate of the world, but only doing the “main quest” isn’t how I see Fallout.
The plot of the TV series is the vault citizen leaving to look for their brother and the story is obviously not that, considering Vault Tec, NCR, BoS are involved, and important lore locations are mentioned.
Not really, Casino locks you out after like 10k caps earned. That's 100 stimpaks with 100 barter give or take, or 1000 rounds of ammo give or take. I like using LMGs and ARs. 1000 rounds of ammo is like 10 mins of gameplay for me. You will need to do a *lot* more than just getting 40k or whatever from the casinos, especially on very hard.
I don’t see how that’s different from what I’m saying. The adaptation clearly has focus in the larger stories among factions rather than the smaller intimate stories of exploration, sidequests, survival and discovery.
>exploration, sidequests, survival and discovery
at least 2 of the 3 arcs shown so far are about that. the ghoul whose story will probably be similar to randall clark, and the vault citizen who's never been to the surface before, and the leader of the others + vault girl.
We’ll see, but what I’m picking up is a main character that makes sense on paper but isn’t a reflection of player experience. If her naive->amateur wastelander arc is quick it’s fine, but if that’s the core of her character throughout I don’t think it fits.
As for the ghoul it seems like they want to avoid the lonely individualistic nature of playing these games and quickly want to suit her up with a colorful quipping adventuring party, not really how I would want to see that translated.
She's shown with a GECK at one point, so you're probably getting what you want. That said, most of the fallout games are not about the individual but the progress of society and factions within it. I think you are seriously misunderstanding fallout.
For game to screen adaptations I’m looking for a cinematic translation of how it feels to play the game. The player’s story makes up a large portion of the playtime, not just the game’s story.
It's not an adaptation, it's an entirely new piece of canon that happens outside the games, meant to progress it.
It is not an adaptation of a specific game, but it is an adaptation of Fallout, which are a series of games.
Are you playing with the fricking "le hardcore economy rebalance" mod or something?
Just regular very hard. Hardcore makes the enemies die in 1-2 hits so it's more or less the same as playing on easy except you have to do tedious levels of inventory management.
>trailer makes it look like they’re going for epic setpieces and a large scale conflict where the larger plot takes enormous precedence
Dude you're literally describing every fallout game ever made.
>I want survival
Walking dead already did it
Are you a speedrunner? Do you just play the main quest on easy as fast as possible?
>Walking Dead did it
So?
its not DEI or blackrock its ZMT and bluecreek, we're going home bois
>act as a scrounging survivalist loot goblin
In toddslop - sure. Not in the originals or NV.
NV is also heavily a lootershooter.
>scrap metal + electronics + duct tape + wrenches for weapon repair kits
>hauling low quality weapons for either repair kit flipping or jury rigging
>tin cans for ammo crafting
>vendor hopping for stimpaks and ammo
Or you can just skip anything on your list. In my countless playthroughs i've never used a workbench or a camp fire. Reloading bench for ammo - sure. But you don't need to loot anything for that.
You can ignore gameplay in a game and pretend it's not there, but that doesn't change the game design. NV is built around looting crap because that's how the in game economy works.
But it's not how it works. You clean out the casinos and then you're set for the rest of the game. And the ammo parts are always sold by the merchants, so you don't need to loot junk, ever.
its time to admit it was kino, and this should be the tone and mood of the TV show and its sequels going forward
What are you down syndrome?
nope. The Fallout 4 live action trailer should've been the tone of the series
Calling it now, Da Hood of Steal had nuked the major NCR cities because "capitalism is le bad".
>Da Hood of Steal
>More interracial propaganda
Despite all the diversity, I bet all the people responsible for bringing about the end of the world will be 100% white men.
Why? Why does this have to happen? They literally have one of the screenwriters for Captain Marvel show running this so you know it’s going to be shit. But why do they have to do this to our series? Why can’t they make her do a typical teenage girls drama like you know she wants to. Instead of getting a gritty, overwashed survival show we’re going to get a slapstick based on an overpowered, incredibly out-of-place stacy.
I genuinely would prefer if they didn’t make the show at all. Because you know that when this fails, we will never get a high-budget fallout adaptation again. This is all we’re getting.
Demoralization.
Gotta love how even the evil white guy has to have a black wife and kid pre nuke. Nothing screams 50s americana than forced interracial marriage. Somehow racism doesnt exist in this setting
Does anyone else just feel fricking burnt out on Fallout? I used to love NV and FO3, but now seeing it plastered everywhere just makes me cringe for some reason. Never played 4 or 76 either.
I don't feel burned out on FO but I feel burned out on Bethesda games and that gameplay loop I don't really want to waste dozens to hundreds of hours on em anymore
Sooo many people on YouTube right now, "analyzing" the trailer, when they don't know shit about Fallout.
"I don't know the technical terms for these things. Is that a bear?" It's a fricking Yao Guai.
First 5 seconds of video, "I think he's the Vault--Tec CEO." Fricking hell, you only need to have seen the first teaser to know this is wrong. Strike that, you only need to pay attention to the trailer he's talking about to know it's wrong.
Then they cream themselves over how good they think the show's going to be. I guess it's pretty easy to think that when you don't know the first thing about the franchise! All you need is for the show's visuals to not look like utter dog shit, and they're ready to canonize Nolan as the patron saint of Fallout.
I'm surprised they haven't posited the theory that Goggins is playing Vault Boy.
Isn't it amazing how people get paid to hear themselves talk?
yea its another certified reddit moment
>implying female protagonist is the problem in a vidya IP thats been diverse and inclusive since the 90s
It is increasingly impossible to have a reasonable discussion here. Between the woman haters and the DINGDINGDING morons all the actual discussion gets drowned out.
>moron cant spot obvious corporate astro turfers
you probably think all those "evil mysoginist" ghostbuster posters were real too
just update your filter list, mine just remove 90% of low effort garbo spam. outside of that, Cinemaphile isnt really the place to discuss new shows anyway unless it's the #1 popular thing at the moment
R/movies would be more your speed.
Cast Sarah Gadon
>Ok, how would YOU go about making a Fallout show then?
Make it about the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel journeying back on the Prydwen to reconnect with the West Coast Brotherhood, the series would cover their journey across mainland America and see the effect of the plots of the past few games.
>Series 1
Mostly the Brotherhood packing up in Boston after having dealt with the institute, they have an alliance with the Minutemen and will maintain a small garrison at Boston Airport, liberty prime is getting shipped back to DC.
Main cast are a squad of brotherhood, an experienced paladin who was part of the Lyon's pride, knight Rhys, scribe Haylen, and some iniatiates from Boston. Give it a band of brothers feel where the various characters grow alongside each other, have some die along the way.
Brotherhood deliver LP back to DC, but get attacked by Enclave remnants along the way. Brotherhood have more or less wiped out the mutants in DC, DC enclaves are a shadow of their former selves and have compromised to the point of teaming up with the super mutants in an attempt to destroy the Citadel.
Paladin decides to stay behind in DC, promotes Rhys and makes him the leader of the new squad. Squad moves on with the rest of the Brotherhood back to the West Coast.
Brotherhood journeys to midwest, encounters the midwest Brotherhood who are fighting the remnants of Caesar's Legion. End of the first series is a climactic battle between the brotherhood and legion, the squad ends up fighting Legate Lanius, Rhys sacrifices himself to kill the Legate, Scribe Halen chooses to stay behind with the midwest brotherhood who barter with the Prydwen brotherhood to give them resources to allow them to continue on. It's left ambiguous as to whether the Legate Rhys killed was "the" Lanius or just someone wearing the mantle.
>Make it about the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel journeying back on the Prydwen to reconnect with the West Coast Brotherhood
supposedly the BoS in the series are the east coast BoS, possibly the midwest BoS too because they also had an airship.
This sounds like something Todd Coward jerks off to. The BOS work best when they are hermit techno-fetishists watching from the shadows, occasionally intervening when they see a personal goal. This Bethesda incarnation of BIG BOMBASTIC FANATICAL HEROISM is cringe and I blame Todd for it
NCR / BOS war is not Todd's invention.
lol of course not, but the BOS never actively tried to take over entire wasteland regions like in Fallout 3 with Washington or Fallout 4 with Boston. The NCR/BOS war was fought over technology that the NCR had, which the BOS felt entitled to, or technologically advanced facilities the NCR inhabited. The BOS should never give a frick about the "well-being" of the wasteland, become a police force for its settlers, and govern over massive territories
the two biggest cultural phenomenons for the current generation:
anime
game of thrones
what do they have in common? They're openly horny. Will American producers realize they're leaving a huge amount of money on the table by being so sexless and safe? Before it results in their dissolution as a company?
I think waht you wrote in 2015 finally posted
yeah those 2015 kids are now employed 20 year olds with the disposable income to invest in their interests
Is it just me or does she look like a less hot Alicia from Fear The Walking Dead
stop talking shit about my frogfu
>Be NCR
>biggest faction in post war america.
>has a hold on most of callifornia
>several large city sized settlements with dozens of smaller farming settlements inbetween that keep everybody fed.
>has factories and can build new stuff&houses
>large trade caravans that keep everything connected and supplied
>large standing army with access to pre war tech like vertibirds and all the cool weapons, can hold off both the BOS&legion and keep the raiders from atacking the settlements and trade routes.
>one nuke on the capital, shady sands and it all colapses and they devolve in to Fallout 3&4 raiders like in the trailer.
This is just a move by bethesda to get rid of the NCR because they dont fit in their idea of fallout where everybody lives in 200 year old shanty towns with 200year old skeletons in the corner.
Will there be synths?
Best girl?
I'm not really getting girlboss vibes from this tbh. Seems like they hit the typical RPG dynamic decently, where the main character is some hapless doofus just strolling around and coming across level 100+ freaks.
