>In the pilot episode, which aired in March 2001, there is a hijacked plane that is being targeted at the World Trade Center; six months before the September 11 attacks occurred.
I wonder if that anon even had something in mind, because otherwise it's kind of ridiculous to say it should be like something if you don't even know what that something else is.
What I meant is that stories feel unambitious and obvious, one episode-one story format results in this. By the time the episode is over the plot is fully finished and the mystery is usually fully revealed and thus feels shallow, except the main arc. That's not really a criticism, it is pure and honest unpretentious pulp fun, but the modern viewers, including me, are too spoiled by grand overarching plots and creepy mysteries posted on the internet. The Sopranos and Breaking Bad. (And fricking GoT but I dislike it.)
If I would be sketching up a plot for modern X-Files like series I would have made the mystery very vague and exercise extremely restraint in explicit demonstration of the actual fantasy elements.
If amateur youtubers and internet ARGs manage to do the mystery right then the proper tv series should be able as well.
And no,
You could never have the comfy 90s feel in modern day, smartphones just ruin the entire premise of the show even someone could just take a photo of the monster or film the secret conspiracy
smartphones and global connectivity would not ruin the plot, especially if we talk about the government conspiracy. If anything, Snowden disclosures only set the stage for such stories, to make them feel more real.

>someone could just take a photo of the monster
there are tonnes of alleged photos out there on cryptoids and monsters and things, nobody believes them
Why is this always the go to response? I don't want to be pessimistic but depending on where you live, the only woman you going be finding at the local parish are 80 year old women lol
>used
She was totally on board with it and in the end she comforted her last surviving son, telling him they would have more kids.
Fun fact, the actress returned for the revival and she played both twins in pic rel. She's pretty good.
I enjoyed the shit out of twin peaks and other 'comfy' shows. Why can't I into x-files? I always clicked away when it was on, now that I can download it I still can't get further than EP 2.5
>Skinner, not here---Scully might see us
>Assistant Director Skinner, please continue.
>this wasn't my decision Mulder, the order came from the top
Shirtless Skinner punching Krycek in the gut was the best moment in the whole series
>he doesn't know about my hidden camera
>Mulder, did you see the newest episode of Sex Files?
-Did aliens do 9/11 or was it someone else?
-You don't want to dig further into this, Agent Mulder, for your own sake.

What shade of red were these pills?
> shut it down!
And they did, after first season.
Bin Laden was probably a fan. That would be an improvement over being a weeb terrorist and a gaymer.
checked
even though this is the most likely explanation I still believe the schizo version more.
bin laden had nothing to do with 9/11
>meanwhile at Scully's local divebar
This guy comes off as totally gay. Do I have an accurate gaydar?
No, he was married for many years and had sex with a prostitute in one of the episodes.
I mean the actor himself.
No, he has a wife, who also played his personal assistant in the show, and a daughter.
well good, I didnt want a functioning gaydar anyway
Wtf man. Mitch Pileggi is one of manliest men in TV history
Mulder, I'm closing the x-files
Mulder I'm m'I redluM
selif-x eht gninepoer reopening the x-files
>Mulder, I'm opening the Spooky Book I am.
>UK version of the X-files
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see this
>oi, you got an abduction loicense?
>oh, you do? carry on then little green fella
It's called Torchwood
Opening the X-Files is above your paygrade Skinman
Watching X-Files feels so cheap and B-movie these days.
Shame, we really could use a good conspiracy mystery series these days.
It would be too "current events".
feels fine to me. that's always kind of what it was going for in the first place. that's not exactly a detailed criticism you gave.
yeah some of the episodes seem like deliberate b-movie sci fi and that's good.
I wonder if that anon even had something in mind, because otherwise it's kind of ridiculous to say it should be like something if you don't even know what that something else is.
Giving examples to make your point? Amazing idea.

That's a large part part of the appeal. You zoomies just don't get it.

>tfw no Horace Pinker series
frick Krueger
How do I get a season 1 scully gf?
local church
>having to larp as a christcuck for however long
no thanks, I'll take my fat, tattooed, BBC-loving atheist prostitute gf

I love this episode, I remember looking it up once and I think it actually got bad reviews
Journos were always shit.
> Amputated mother under the bed used a brood mare.
Americans are fricking weird.

The small town America MOTW episodes were peak comfy kino
Didn't the actor smoke crack with a bunch of gays?
I think that's the guy from Alf you're thinking of.
He was 28 during the filming of the first season
And he still looks the same.
i was 28 once too
