before episode 5, the general consensus was that there was the JCJensen company headquarters on earth sending out squads of disassembly drones. That means N, V, and especially J were hanging around watercoolers and talking about sports with humans. These were popular, especially since it includes a lot of Human Male on Robot Female
episode 5 confirmed that Cyn made the disassembly drones
episode 6 confirmed that Cyn sent out the disassembly drones, and earth is kaplooy
so now all the fan stories that take place at the JCJensen office make no sense, so its now just an AU that exists on Cinemaphile. And so now that its an AU, we have Uzi, Doll, and Cyn hanging out on the office too because frick it.
I think its dumb and now I just skim these threads instead of reading everything

The timeline of events is still vague as hell, with the only two definite dates given being the foundation of Copper-9's Cabin Fever Labs in the early 3000's & the "present" of 3071. That leaves decades of time to work with, even between the Gala Massacre and Earths eventual fall. Plenty of time to reasonably believe that all of th office shenanigans could have happened somewhere inside that timeframe, although it does hinge on several bold assumptions to make sense. Such as whether Tessa is secretly working for Cyn/Solver or not, and all the implications that would entail

To give my two cents on "is my hyper-fixation losing it's luster?": I personally joined this fandom starting last week and while I've definitely been a little confused at some points, I don't definitely feel like I've burned myself dry yet. It's fun being able to talk with people who enjoy this cute show about cute murder robots alongside the countless TADC threads, and if I feel like I'm losing luster for one show I can just pop in another thread and have it recharge, if MD is the only thing you're enjoying then it's a little unhealthy but if you're like me and have been enjoying both MD and TADC (and doing fun things with them like viewing memes, writing and posting silly sprays), you should be fine as long as you get time to try and see if you like new stuff. Besides, as long as it still good, this fandom won't die anytime soon, right? Even if you take a little bit of time away, it'll still be there for you when it comes back.

Started watching this the other day, almost didn't continue after seeing J get blasted. Last I saw she's back but I have the distinct feeling she won't do anything ever again.
The biggest gripe for me with 4 was how they cemented that murder just doesn't really matter.
I know it's played for laughs and I'm just a killjoy, but I'm not sure why Doll being a serial killer or humans mistreating robots is supposed to matter if no one even cares that V and Uzi have murdered people and are just going to continue to murder people.

10/10 visuals, both in animation and design, just gorgeous
8/10 setting, interesting enough setting and lore to be expanded upon
3/10 writing, FRICKING quintessential millennial writing with the overdone self-aware dialogue and quips that should only ever stay in marvelslop, most of the humor did not land at all because of this, feels like im watching a parody of itself
if this is what the show is like, im not sure if a can tolerate 5 more episodes of this
Do give the next two episodes a shot, the pilot leans a bit too hard into the "self aware" comedy and that gets very quickly corrected in the following episodes.
Plus the animation only gets better, and the world building does too. So if those have you intrigued I highly encourage you to push on.

you know i initially thought they actually changed writers between the pilot and episode 2 because of how much better the writing became but according to the credits liam vickers is still the guy thats doing that so good on him to actually have improved his skills in not writing trash

It genuinely feels like, in the Pilot, Liam does a lot of "flinging shit at the wall to see what sticks". I don't think it's "trash", there are quite a few good things about then Pilot. It just doesn't have a solid grasp of what its trying to do so it ends up being hit or miss.
Stuff like "OH ROBO-JESUS", Khan being horny for doors, the door jokes in general, pretty much everything N does, made me laugh in some capacity. There WERE good bits there, but people get really hung up on the bad. I think the mark of a good writer is being able to look at your work, seperate out the shit stuff from the good stuff and work on improving for next time. Liam does that with this show, which why the episodes after the Pilot feel so much better. It just feels more confident, like it's trying less to throw shit out there that doesn't work like quirky meta humor or social commentary, and focuses on what the Pilot got right.

Pilots are also supposed to be the weakest, roughest part of any show. I don't get why people have such ultra-high standards of fricking PILOT EPISODES all of a sudden. Using Helluva Boss as an example, the pilot has shit animation and shit humor - it tries too hard to be "adult and edgy" and looks really bad in general but has an interesting premise. Nobody shits on it, because HB's pilot was eclipsed by how phenominally bad the rest of the show became. Murder Drones phenominally improves after the Pilot, yet people don't offer the same amount of forgiveness or understanding thatbPilots are going to be rough and have issues.

That means N, V, and especially J were hanging around watercoolers and talking about sports with humans. These were popular, especially since it includes a lot of Human Male on Robot Female
episode 5 confirmed that Cyn made the disassembly drones
episode 6 confirmed that Cyn sent out the disassembly drones, and earth is kaplooy
so now all the fan stories that take place at the JCJensen office make no sense, so its now just an AU that exists on Cinemaphile. And so now that its an AU, we have Uzi, Doll, and Cyn hanging out on the office too because frick it.
I think its dumb and now I just skim these threads instead of reading everything

Plenty of time to reasonably believe that all of th office shenanigans could have happened somewhere inside that timeframe, although it does hinge on several bold assumptions to make sense. To give my two cents on "is my hyper-fixation losing it's luster?": I personally joined this fandom starting last week and while I've definitely been a little confused at some points, I don't definitely feel like I've burned myself dry yet. It's fun being able to talk with people who enjoy this cute show about cute murder robots alongside the countless TADC threads, and if I feel like I'm losing luster for one show I can just pop in another thread and have it recharge, if MD is the only thing you're enjoying then it's a little unhealthy but if you're like me and have been enjoying both MD and TADC (and doing fun things with them like viewing memes, writing and posting silly sprays), you should be fine as long as you get time to try and see if you like new stuff. Besides, as long as it still good, this fandom won't die anytime soon, right? Even if you take a little bit of time away, it'll still be there for you when it comes back.
I think the strange LARP posting going on here is cringe and weird, but I'm going to choose to just ignore it and keep droneposting instead of trying to make it everyone else's problem that I don't like it.

So Nori and Yeva can't be "related" as they never had parents, they were manufactured.

They made a lot of creative changes in the year between the pilot and the rest of the show
you know i initially thought they actually changed writers between the pilot and episode 2 because of how much better the writing became but according to the credits liam vickers is still the guy thats doing that so good on him to actually have improved his skills in not writing trash
From what I've heard the pilot is just how Liam writes when he's unsure if something is actually going to work out. Man self sabotages his work because he's not confident it's ever gonna get picked up. If that ain't a lesson to the write friends that the feelings of not being good at the whole writing thing never go away and in fact get worse
But once it picks up steam he stops sperging out and sticks to his guns and pulls back the curtain to write actual fire!
It genuinely feels like, in the Pilot, Liam does a lot of "flinging shit at the wall to see what sticks". I don't think it's "trash", there are quite a few good things about then Pilot. It just doesn't have a solid grasp of what its trying to do so it ends up being hit or miss.
Stuff like "OH ROBO-JESUS", Khan being horny for doors, the door jokes in general, pretty much everything N does, made me laugh in some capacity. There WERE good bits there, but people get really hung up on the bad. I think the mark of a good writer is being able to look at your work, seperate out the shit stuff from the good stuff and work on improving for next time. Liam does that with this show, which why the episodes after the Pilot feel so much better. It just feels more confident, like it's trying less to throw shit out there that doesn't work like quirky meta humor or social commentary, and focuses on what the Pilot got right.

Pilots are also supposed to be the weakest, roughest part of any show. I don't get why people have such ultra-high standards of fricking PILOT EPISODES all of a sudden. Using Helluva Boss as an example, the pilot has shit animation and shit humor - it tries too hard to be "adult and edgy" and looks really bad in general but has an interesting premise. Nobody shits on it, because HB's pilot was eclipsed by how phenominally bad the rest of the show became. Murder Drones phenominally improves after the Pilot, yet people don't offer the same amount of forgiveness or understanding thatbPilots are going to be rough and have issues.
