Ummm...wtf?
My fellow rightoid outragegays assured me that no one actually liked this straight version of Clark cause he wasn't toxically masculine enough...?
Is it worth it, though? The tone of the show has kept Superman's power more or less tame and he gets beaten with certain frequency so introducing a foe that pummels Superman won't be as dramatic nor impressive.
I don’t like how the discourse around secret identities has evolved. See in the classic comics and shows, the secret identity was something treated seriously and it was fun seeing Supes expertly avoid suspicion around his workplace. Overtime as more kids shows featured main characters with secret identities the evasion started to become a joke, the hero would give some impossible excuse to explain himself when put on the spot and it was accepted without question for comedic effect. This was fine in comedy shows for children but soon this more flippant approach to secret identities began to bleed into more serious stories where it became grating. I feel as though most people’s true issues with secret identities stems from the lazy way they’re implemented and not the concept itself. Instead of course correcting from this, MAWS instead elects to continue this “doofy idiot who gives the thinnest excuses possible” trope only instead this time everyone sees right through Clark. It’s lame because it feels like the writers just lazily speedran through the secret identity by making Clark into an idiot who can’t lie for shit and that’s just not entertaining to watch unfold. We’re never gonna get fun writing like this and that to me is a real shame.
well, usually the argument is that 'if she knows my secret she will be in danger', which falls down flat if the love interest has any brain cells and usually doesn't keep her out of being kidnapped by foes anyway.
Mixed bag, it screw up a lot of stuff but we also get a Clark that's actually always trying to do good including multiple scenes of him blocking attacks to protect people and fixes damage after the fight ends.
I like it as good hopeful superman representation, and a real nice feeling that they don't have to do the secret identity shit.
Also we're guaranteed to be exploring more of minor cast of the Superman comics and DC as a whole
and particularly this:
Mixed bag, it screw up a lot of stuff but we also get a Clark that's actually always trying to do good including multiple scenes of him blocking attacks to protect people and fixes damage after the fight ends.
My big complaint is that they are trying to do hour long plots in a 30 minute episode frame. Also, the show does the same thing Smallville did with the meteor based Freak of the Week and the DCW Flash did with the Super Collider based Freak of the Week, which is just lazy and that's what a lot of people complain about, since these writers are using (just as those shows did) to change the origins of villains.
So if you hated that about SV and the Flash, you probably won't enjoy this.
I don't think MAWS is doing MOW, it felt like they were at first and I disagree with that take as well as their refinement of that take with Atomic Skull, Damage, etc.

All the villains are given the exact same origin: being a derivate of recovered Kryptonian technology, implemented by Task Force X.
We are talking: Livewire, Atomic Skull, Silver Banshee, Heat Wave, Damage, Mist, and Rough House.
The latter three are more obscure compared to the former 4, I'll give you that.
The main exceptions are Parasite and Mxyzptlk. Having said that, Parasite being a suit, rather than a mutation, gives a too similar vibe to all the other Villains during season 1.
However, I do think season 2 is taking a good route with the villains, so far. Atomic Skull is not just technology, it is a mutation. Parasite has been fully consumed by the suit, so it's more akin to the original. I'm even looking forward to the Metallo army, once Lex changes their power sources from experimental solar batteries, to Kryptonite.

Which is fine. Unfortunately, for some of us, that came out as lazy. Specially considering they had very interesting and different origin stories to begin with.
Now, I don't mind them being captured/hired and used by Waller in her Anti-Superman Suicide Squad, don't get me wrong. It is the unified origin of the superpowers what bothers me.
It looks like it's going to be an alternate reality where Zod took over Krypton. This series focuses more on Lois and Jimmy than anything since the 60's. Task force X has been the main antagonists and are focused on acquiring alien tech/earth defense.
It's great but it's also different in some places so I recommend you give it a chance and then decide if you keep on it or drop. Personally it's a good breather after all these years full of Snyder and INJUSTICE. Finally a Superman that is honestly good and fights to remain decent. He saves kitties from trees, he's polite and friendly, looks for the small guy and does his best to keep people AND their living place safe. Also has ambitions as Clark Kent, I always love stories where Clark is his real self and has goals of his own.
It’s fun and campy. Lois lane feels like she has a bigger presence here than before and it really fits with “my adventures” framing the show has. There’s more of a romance angle here, too.
Young Justice got the impossible and got a season 3 to wrap shit up, it fricked up and was shit.
Then it got the double impossible and got a season FOUR to wrap shit up, and not only did it frick it up, it went full braindead awful. Linear broadcasting and cable are far less than they were. They are 'dying' in the way that radio died.
Cable itself will not go 'away' but a lot of channels have and will continue to disappear because subscribers don't want to pay for them and cable companies won't pay the licensing fees for that many channels but mostly because advertisers won't support them.

You all really should stop pretending you can comment intelligently on big business. You almost always just embarrass yourselves.
Streaming providers will go under; that's already happened and will continue to happen. Peawiener and Paramount will probably combine, others will likely continue to disappear and any that remain will be niche and very limited (Criterion) or continue to raise their rates and start selling advertising (HBO Max, Disney, Netflix, etc.).

I’m still confused as to why this is on Adult Swim and not Cartoon Network. I mean there’s isn’t anything sexual or any swearing. Steven Universe was more explicit than this.
Why isn’t it on CN?
It was originally planned to go on cartoon network, but the suits moved it to adult swim late in production. So, at the very least, all of season 1 and quite possibly season 2 were written and made for kids with cartoon network placement in mind. And it’s unclear if they’re ever gonna take advantage of being on adult swim to slip in more mature content, or if they’re just gonna keep things consistent to maintain the tone of the show.
I hope they don't change the tone of the show for the sake of pushing their ratings. I don't need goons to start swearing. The only thing I'd like is the villains getting more fricked, like in an old Batman cartoon.
This. Batman rarely gets tested or given harsh conditions because Batman always sells. It was a shocking surprise to see that Keaton and Affleck weren't enough to save The Flash.
Imagine a Batman series with the premise that the Wayne fortune is completely locked up in a trust managed by corrupt executives (Powers or something like that) and Bruce is forced to start his Year One with minimal equipment.
Something similar was the prototype script for the Batman Year One movie before it became Batman Begins. Young Bruce escaped after his parents' murder without any support or money and grew as a mechanic in one of the many crime ridden neighborhoods in Gotham under a different family name. He used the stuff in the garage to improvise his gadgets. I don't remember many details but movie ends with him Bruce being restored as the legitimate inheritor of the Wayne fortune and the movie teasing him becoming a more traditional high budget Batman.
What about Batwheels? Or Justice league action.
More seriously there's supposed to be a new animated show starting in August apparently? Caped Crusader.
Bruce Wayne is too much of an edgelord. This Lois obviously finds unironic wholesomeness erotic.

Son, you really need to seek psychiatric care about all these split personalities you have.
Japan actually has no parody protection, that's why they bleep out stuff like "Gundam". If you don't own it, you can't use it (in theory) or even mention it. Some people, however, give no fricks.
Though oddly enough they have a huge fan comic market (including porn ones) because the companies just look yhe other way. They see fan comics as a talent pool and many pros still make comics for the fan comic market.

That maybe the case but the lack parody protections in Japan can mean if a big company doesn't like what you're doing, they can make an example of you suing you

There is also the fact that doujin, regular or porn, are still seen as a small market.
Making a problem out of them doesn't guarantee money and even implies the lost of free advertisement.
Some of my favourite manga I knew them because I happen to stumble upon a hentai of them and took a liking to the characters.

Doujin is tolerated because it creates a recruitment pool.
>While there have been some stellar fan art imagining what a meeting between the World's Finest would look like in the My Adventures with Superman art style, Wyatt revealed during an interview with The Parent Watch that the show will not be introducing Batman anytime soon. "There's some back-and-forth because James Gunn and Peter Safran and Warner Brothers Discovery have big plans for these characters on the big screen," Wyatt shared. "DC has been really supportive, though, we've sent them our premises for all the material that we have created and are creating, and we've never gotten a hard no on anything we wanted to do. Batman is fraught, we're staying away from him."
Gonna be so funny if batman is held back from MAWS because WB wants him for something else only for that project to fall through and them try to force Batman into being a major character in MAWS only to kill it with tonal whiplash.
>NO. We must FORCE Batman into EVERYTHING. Nothing is good without BATMAN. He already planned for everything in the show and has contingencies for wiping out every threat and he's just so fricking cool he makes me hard, I hope this is a Batman and Nightwing make out and rub each others butts episode
t. batgays
Because the only way to generate interest in this show is to have a pretty white bishonen to be around Clark and get yaoi fanart. If it's not Batman then who else? Nobody else is popular enough.
Don't call me a Batwanker. I would prefer if it was anyone but Batman. But that is the general trend that the fanart I've seen is going towards - speculative fan designs of MAWS Bruce Wayne.
I'm pleasantly surprised that they're bringing her in so soon. I thought she was going to show up ad the end of the last episode as a cliffhanger or something.
I wouldn't care if they weren't forcing it on Toonami. And no, that's not "I only want anime" it's "I only want shit I can tolerate" and half the anime pickups especially originals by Demarco are bad enough.
Aww frick yeah! I didn't get to finish watching the first season but what I did I really enjoyed! Coming right off of Invincible this was a very welcome change of pace. This i disagree with. It's not dying, it's just in a weird phase, but that will be over once streaming dies and people do something about content farms.
>once streaming dies
It's already losing money.
And? Corporations have invested way too much into it to give up.
Not that I like it, mind, but its not going away.
It's going to go away. Either they all will give up or die trying.
That feels incredibly unlikely.
Besides, cable has taken such a hit I'm not sure it could ever recover enough to go back to how it was anyway.
Trust me, what seems the most unlikely is actually what's the most likely in disguise.
So yeah, cable isn't dead and streaming is suffering.
>So yeah
>Not even trying to refute me anymore
Might as well admit i'm right.
>admit
>It's not dying,
Linear broadcasting and cable are far less than they were. They are 'dying' in the way that radio died.
Cable itself will not go 'away' but a lot of channels have and will continue to disappear because subscribers don't want to pay for them and cable companies won't pay the licensing fees for that many channels but mostly because advertisers won't support them.
>once streaming dies
>already losing money
>going to go away
You all really should stop pretending you can comment intelligently on big business. You almost always just embarrass yourselves.
Streaming providers will go under; that's already happened and will continue to happen. Peawiener and Paramount will probably combine, others will likely continue to disappear and any that remain will be niche and very limited (Criterion) or continue to raise their rates and start selling advertising (HBO Max, Disney, Netflix, etc.).
No? Tuca got cancelled after that voice shit drama
cope
What's even woke about it?
It neither deifies minorities for being minorities nor demonizes straight or white people.
thats from anime, right?
how can a character look like bruce wayne, phoenix wright and professor utonium all at once? wtf
Hopefully it’s more mature.
>My Adventures with Superman is a U.S. television program broadcast on Adult Swim since Thursday, July 6, 2023. My Adventures with Superman is currently the #1 most popular show on Adult Swim and 362nd overall on TV, watched by a total number of 176,000 people (0.06% rating, up +2% from last week) as of the daily audience measurement on June 8, 2024.

I'm glad it's doing well.
And by well I mean the one that's sucking the least in this abysmal era of TV ratings
Me too, its a fun show.
Loischads can't stop winning.
She's soooo cute, but that first top she wore was UGLY
I know, right? It's like they just can't nail her clothes.
I'm fine with it.
I’m still confused as to why this is on Adult Swim and not Cartoon Network. I mean there’s isn’t anything sexual or any swearing. Steven Universe was more explicit than this.
Why isn’t it on CN?
Zaslav zaslaving
Cartoon Network is dead, Anon.
Because CN is getting whipped to death.
Lois and Clark get too thirsty for child audiences.
CN needs more space so they can put on more reruns of Teen Titians Go.
If it's true, they're just starting work on it now since S2 is just the second half of the original production order after S1
But good news all the same, can't have all DC animation be Gunnverse
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/anthony-bourdain-get-jiro-adult-swim-super-mutant-magic-academy-1235921983/
It's real
>Streaming platform Max launched this week in Europe
That fricking explains why I couldn't watch shit on it 2 weeks ago when I was in Germany
>immigrants GUD
>racemixing GUD
>minorites GUD
>white men BAD
I wonder why they renewed it lol
Because those points are true
Saying the quiet part out loud now are we?
No I didn't call you a moron homosexual
but enough about you
>white men BAD
Give examples or piss off because we all know you're talking out of your ass
All the good white men were race swapped to another race, all the villainous white men were kept white
It is inevitable. You will get Lois finding the strength to stay loyal to Clark when Diana shows up, and you'll like it!
MAWS is like a race to see who can butcher a classic design the hardest
To be fair what IS a Parasite classic design anyways? Fricker always looks different in every incarnation.
That's fanart. Also, Diana has at least two costumes that feature jackets, more if you want to count civvy outfits.
>That’s fanart
Yeah no fooling
That's nice. I was expecting Gunn to shut down this version of superman that will almost inevitably be better than his.
Theres another Batman cartoon running too. But then, its Batman. No one else gets three different continuities running at the same time.
This. Batman rarely gets tested or given harsh conditions because Batman always sells. It was a shocking surprise to see that Keaton and Affleck weren't enough to save The Flash.
I desperately want to hope that the general public is FINALLY getting properly sick of Batman.
To be fair, we haven’t gotten a Batman cartoon in over a decade.
What about Batwheels? Or Justice league action.
More seriously there's supposed to be a new animated show starting in August apparently? Caped Crusader.
Things are going my way ... for now
If Lois went through Clark's internet history to find out what he's into, what do you think she would find?
>What color are latina nipples?
>Not to not kill a girl with your gigantic wiener
>latina
I thought Lois had muslim roots.
She's korean here
>Latina
>Muslim
She's korean though?
Also haven't watched anything but
even odds they ship her with Batman
Bruce Wayne is too much of an edgelord. This Lois obviously finds unironic wholesomeness erotic.
I mean shipping Diana with Batman
It would be interesting if Lois feels somewhat of a temporary attachment because of her daddy issues. Her father is another well trained paranoid crazy prepared badass with a tough exterior and a hidden heart of gold.
>how to tell your girlfriend you want 20 kids
>Is my crab claw dick compatible to normal people?
gay sex with hats on
>funny cat videos
>daily weather update for smallville, kansas
>how do I have sex
>new keyboards
Hand holding, cuddling, sex in the missionary position
Good, I deserve more Jimmy.
S3 already? I thought the first season was last year.
>smiling friends trailer aired in 2021 and s1 is 2.5 years ago
Holy frick dudes someone pushed fast forward on my life I don't remember any of this shit.
>c**ty asian chick with dyke haircut
>metrosexual black nred who unironically thinks Trevor Noah is funny
>autistic white dude who posts about how he's 6 foot 1 online and women aren't into that because they only go for 6 foot 2 guys but is actually just unable to talk to women
When you think about it, this is PEAK metropolis (2024).
>c**ty dyke
>metrosexual black nerd
>autistic white dude unable to talk to women
Son, you really need to seek psychiatric care about all these split personalities you have.
Or, at least, remember to take your meds.
Twitter tourist not exposing themselves with the boring "take meds" insult: challenge impossible.
When will Chadell make an apperance and show supergirl her place?
>You don't understand officer, I thought she was 18.
>Footgay
Your opinion is worth less the dust I wipe from my shoe, and no I won’t let you inhale it
>Nagatoro Lois
>Senpai Luthor
S3 will have notTadano as Zod
When does Android 19 show up?
Literally how the frick did they get away with this? This is the kind of thing that usually leads to lawsuits.
Uhhh... what goes around comes around.
It's ok when japan does it!
Japan actually has no parody protection, that's why they bleep out stuff like "Gundam". If you don't own it, you can't use it (in theory) or even mention it. Some people, however, give no fricks.
Oh that explains why a lot of Japanese wikis don't have pictures.
>What is parody?
And yet people act like there's something wrong with a simple reference.
It's cute as a one-off, but annoying as a default. Kara is hotter than 18 so I consider this a straight downgrade
What are you going to copyright exactly? Vest and jeans?
I'm more upset at the fact that Kara's wearing pants
> Literally how the frick did they get away with this? This is the kind of thing that usually leads to lawsuits.
yeah how the frick did Toriyama get away with giving Superman’s backstory to Goku?
It's just an outfit, you moron
Hope he rails them both next season.
Batman is fraught, we're staying away from him."
https://www.cbr.com/my-adventures-with-superman-season-2-batman-staying-away/
Sorry guys, no Batman. Yet, anyway.
It's definitely another Bat embargo. Personally, I'd just like to see some mention of Gotham and its problems.
We got Vicki Vale at least.
We do, and that's exactly the avenue for such information.
Gonna be so funny if batman is held back from MAWS because WB wants him for something else only for that project to fall through and them try to force Batman into being a major character in MAWS only to kill it with tonal whiplash.
Good, I don't want Batgays anywhere near me.
They can pull a Lex and have Bruce Wayne show up outside of capes
That's probably the exact route that they would take to shoehorn Bruce into this show.
And there's nothing wrong with that. I bet when Bruce shows up, Lois will totes push for them to be "friends".
Why do people even want Bats here?
He gets so much stuff already, let other heroes have their own things without Batman there.
>NO. We must FORCE Batman into EVERYTHING. Nothing is good without BATMAN. He already planned for everything in the show and has contingencies for wiping out every threat and he's just so fricking cool he makes me hard, I hope this is a Batman and Nightwing make out and rub each others butts episode
t. batgays
Basically thirst for bishonen Bruce
People really want to see Mr Smith Bruce.
Do Cass but Dorothy
Because the only way to generate interest in this show is to have a pretty white bishonen to be around Clark and get yaoi fanart. If it's not Batman then who else? Nobody else is popular enough.
sure batwanker, sure
Don't call me a Batwanker. I would prefer if it was anyone but Batman. But that is the general trend that the fanart I've seen is going towards - speculative fan designs of MAWS Bruce Wayne.
She's Korean.
And we needed to remind you that by having General Lane write in Korean in the last episode.
That was actually the first time we find out. Before then we just guessed based on her VA being Korean, noting was official.
No, I'm pretty sure it was very official that she was Korean or Korean-flavored.
Not because it was said on the show, but rather because of marketing virtue signaling.
No, not really. Before last week there was no official word, just guesses.
She had to get her Korean ness from some parent and he looks Korean enough
The showrunner said it on Twitter or something
You think the Main Man will make an appearance?
And how badly do you think they'll frick him up?
Hmm, what anime character would he be?
Some emo bishonen.
Kaneki ken
Mr Satan
Ira Gamagori, or something else Gainax-adjacent
>spoiler
They'll use a version of him that's closer to the nu52 twink than the original
When will the dad learn Clark's secret identity?
Impressive consider the suit hasn't been revealed yet in full view
Any new Flips?
Haven't seen past ep 2 yet.
Lois or Kara in flips? Do tell.
Is there a new episode this week? I thought they aired on fridays
you gotta wait about 24 hours it's midnight; Saturday-to-Sunday's cusp
This Saturday
I like her design and voice
Her hair is so anime it’s distracting
With the hairstyle she reads more as Powergirl than Supergirl though.
or android 18
The hairstyle is closing to Kusanagi from Ghost in the shell or Akane than to A18
People are focused on her clothes, which are definitely from Android 18.
Android 18 better not take away from Clark's screen time.
Jimmy is straight?
I could have sworn this version of Jimmy was as queer as a $3 bill.
He's pretty straight anon
I was shocked too. Probably no guy could be completely straight while hanging around Clark, though. Yowza.
I just assumed both Jimmy and Clark were bi because of how effeminate they are in this show.
It’s the white male liberal gaze.
I'm pleasantly surprised that they're bringing her in so soon. I thought she was going to show up ad the end of the last episode as a cliffhanger or something.
Bros she is cuttttte
>there's a world where this show is going to be the main inspiration for non-comic book Superman stuff
I wouldn't care if they weren't forcing it on Toonami. And no, that's not "I only want anime" it's "I only want shit I can tolerate" and half the anime pickups especially originals by Demarco are bad enough.
So is there going to be a scene tonight that'll make people reference "SAD FOR YOUUUUUUUU"?
Show looks turbo gay
Like something a middle school girl or emotionally stunted late 20s woman would watch
>make a thing where Superman is a good guy
>it works
Why did it take them so long?
>they go to Gotham
> it's hero is Alan Scott Green Lantern
I don't want to see Gay Alan in a cartoon, you know they'd do it
You mean the rest of the episodes got released and they just pretended it's a new season.
Season 3, dipshit.
I like how Supes lore feels unique when it doesnt involve other DC slop in it like Batshit
Aww frick yeah! I didn't get to finish watching the first season but what I did I really enjoyed! Coming right off of Invincible this was a very welcome change of pace. It's nice to watch something genuinely optimistic and comfy. Lastly, it's nice knowing that we have some Superman stuff to look forward to once Superman & Lois Season 4 finishes the series.
Since this is up I won't make a separate watch thread.
The episode is tonight at 12 am eastern / 11 pm central time.
