Zuko is really pulling some "friends with the Avatar" privilege by not having his father and Sister sent to the Earth Kingdom to be tried and executed for attempted genocide.

The only people in canon punished for the FN's war crimes are Azula and Ozai. And to be quite honest, considering Aang's desire to have his era be defined by peace, I don't think Aang would allow Azula and Ozai to be tried for war crimes considering they would get a death sentence. Especially since Zuko's position in the FN is precious as is and so him (indirectly) killing their former god-king and their war hero princess after betraying them and his nation is liable to cause riots.

In fact, her delusions are her deeply repressed subconscious telling her that she was wrong in how she treated others and that she needs to change if she wants to be happy in life. So she doesn't meet, IIRC, the legal standard for insanity, which is not being able to tell right from wrong.
