My oldest son is going to be 5 and I think he's ready to have some Tom and Jerry in his life. Personally, I think the Hanna Barbera period is the only one worth watching. Anyone else prefer other periods in the franchise?

you know this shit turns kids into furries right?

No it doesn't, all it's going to do is make your kid go "that scene is done by Ken Muse" and "that scene is done by Irv Spence", they will not become furries as normies want funny animals.

I work with kids and kids doing animation breakdowns is something they do.

Your kid will not become a furry.

Being a furry is a bad thing, you want you kid to belike "that scene is done by Ken Muse" and "that scene is done by Irv Spence".

Old cartoons don't. The internet could do it too ya though. Just keep him away from the web for a while and he'll be fine. If he does end up becoming a furry though....we'll uhh...I guess it was over from the start.

The Gene Deitch T&J is over-hated -- but not right for a 5 year old.

Chuck Jones T&J is the weakest of the 3 theatrical eras IMO.

    Filmation era is garbo.

Some of the direct to DVD movies are really enjoyable and your kid might like them, particularly: Fast and the Furry, Blast Off to Mars, Shiver Me Whiskers, The Magic Ring, Spy Quest, Robin Hood and his Merry Mouse, and The Lost Dragon

      Hanna Barbera MGM>Chuck Jones>Gene Deitch>Hanna Barbera 1970s TV>Filmation.

Can't say anything about Tom and Jerry Tales and the other TV shows Tom and Jerry had.

Quick question, which steaming service T&J? I don't really pay for alot of subscriptions so I actually don't know.

One other thing you can do too; if you have the means, you should burn a bunch of stuff on DVDS. That way if your tight on money or something, you could just put a DVD on for thr kid.

How many people burn DVD's? What he could do instead is download any cartoons he finds on YouTube ytdl. It's an incredibly easy method. Github link here if your interested:

Alternatively, the internet archive always have some good classic toon stuff if you look deep enough. There's even some archives with full as disney films still up. It's easier too check there if you don't want too use any subscription services.

You know, now I'm curious. What would be the best set of cartoons too show to your kid? Tom and Jerry and Classic Disney seem like good options too me, if we're talking golden age stuff.
