Ey, I like OtH. Easily the most diverse film in recent decades. You've got your blacks, your whites, your asians, you've got them from all over Hollywood's history outside of silent films, an actor or actress from every era.
Sure, the plot's not all that jazzy, but it's a film that can comfortably rely on its cast- and the cast comfortably carry the film.

for me, the only Dreamworks films that hit the mark are the ones which tell a compelling storyline and which have characters with captivating personalities. Antz, Shrek, Shark Tale and Madagascar succeed at both, so they're all good films in my book. Over the Hedge was the first one that missed the mark imo (banal storyline and uninteresting characters)

it's weird how he calls it the worst Dreamworks film, yet never says that the film is boring or that it didn't make him laugh. Most of his criticisms are superficial (Oscar's design, the puns and catchphrases, how the characters resemble the celebrities, the underwater setting not being that creative) He seems confused with the film, not angry. The design of the main character being ugly isn’t a superficial criticism at all. Your main character should not be unintentionally ugly, especially when it’s based on a Hollywood leading man heartthrob like Will Smith. He’s not confused about hating the movie at all, he’s just confused that Dreamworks would greenlight such a terrible concept, look, and script which are pretty scathing criticisms for a movie.

Sinbad suffered a lot because of Shark Tale. They were made roughly at the same time, but Shark Tale was the bigger priority. They knew fully CG films were the future by that point

The design of the main character being ugly isn’t a superficial criticism at all. Your main character should not be unintentionally ugly, especially when it’s based on a Hollywood leading man heartthrob like Will Smith. He’s not confused about hating the movie at all, he’s just confused that Dreamworks would greenlight such a terrible concept, look, and script which are pretty scathing criticisms for a movie.
for me, the only Dreamworks films that hit the mark are the ones which tell a compelling storyline and which have characters with captivating personalities. Antz, Shrek, Shark Tale and Madagascar succeed at both, so they're all good films in my book. Over the Hedge was the first one that missed the mark imo (banal storyline and uninteresting characters)
