The tub scene had that song by the Ohio Players. I want to be Free
"Sho sho shoo One day child, I won't have to listen to your lies
On that day, I'll be able to make up my own mind
You know, I think I done finally realized
And now I think I can put you out of my life
I'm gonna be free! (I want to be free to run away)"
PTAs ability to shift tones so easily without it being jarring is really impressive. Boogie Nights hits basically every tonal high of light comedy, high tension suspense, hyper sexuality, and tragedy. Fricking perfect movie
People on here dismiss him as an entry level director, which is true, but he's still great. Kubrick is also entry level, still great. The only time I think PTA missed was with Magnolia, and even that movie has a cult following. My favorite is The Master though, which is my second favorite movie of the 2010's. Haven't seen the newest romcom he made.
That sequence was absolutely incredible for director's 2nd film even if it was just ripping off Goodfellas.
this is a decent movie but difficult for me to watch because i can feel PTA's smug presence behind the camera. Every scene is basically just a music video set to PTA's reddit playlist, and Quentin Tarantino's critiques of the movie basically ruined it for me.
it's well made but at its core I think it falls flat due to one fatal flaw: dishonesty.
There is a lot of pretension but it's still pretty good especially the extended cut. Tarantino's criticisms were also whiny, basically just saying that it wasn't true enough to the era
When I watched this at 14 it didn't really disturb me, I guess because I wasn't grown enough to appreciate how fricked up it was. Now I watch this and feel depressed and uncomfortable at the same time. I mostly remembered the funny parts from that movie. I wonder what a rewatch today would be like.
I guess the stuff in this movie is sleazy but it's all executed cleanly. There are much sleazier movies, just try any exploitation or grindhouse shit from the 70s
Its not a sleazy or exploitive movie. Its actually very funny and heartfelt. The characters are all damaged and they're in a sleazy business, but they find comfort and acceptance with each other
Noe movies aren't sleazy in my eyes, because of how he's trying to depict the subject matter in a non-exploitative light. Irreversible would feel much more sleazy to me if the rape scene was shorter and more stylized.

Based and checked. What did tarantino say about it?
The ending to this film was incredibly optimistic and hopeful for the subject matter. Everyone whose life was fricked up by the porn machine is able to move on in some capacity.
Antichrist maybe, but I don't see how The House That Jack Built could be sleazier than Nymphomaniac, considering that Jack doesn't even rape none of his victims.
caligula
anything tinto braps
pink flamingos
I hate israelites and I hate people who talk up this fetish movie
Hetero sex between a man and woman isn't a fetish anon and that's the only type of porn they made
PT Anderson isn't israeli, he just grew up in the San Fernando Valley which is the porn capitol of the world
Capital*
And I hate /misc/Black folk like you.
Spotted the israelite
It's shit like this that makes me embarrassed to be right wing, God damn it.

Ugh, don't bother
too bad about his newest film
Except that scene was garbage, the little guy in the background setting off firecrackers was so fricking forced for tension

Who's cosmo then
THE HORROR OF DRACULA
(1958)
Happiness (1998)

tf is this sick shit?
An honest and unflinching depiction of a pedophile in a movie, it should be sick because fricking children is sick.
Pretty much this:
For what it's worth, that scene is after everyone finds out, and he gets arrested shortly afterward.
Forced entry (1973)
the greasy strangler
spraaaaaaang breaaaaaaaaak
neon demon
I felt like I needed a shower after I watched Auto Focus.
pretty good steadicam shot to open the movie.

“It’s my big dick and I’m ready to frick” scene kills me every time. Wahlberg really does a great job in that movie

Based and checked. What did tarantino say about it?
Was the ending to this film a tragedy? It felt sad I dont know why.

Here you go.
Antichrist and House That Jack Built are arguably even sleazier
Antichrist maybe, but I don't see how The House That Jack Built could be sleazier than Nymphomaniac, considering that Jack doesn't even rape none of his victims.
THTJB was a surprisingly moral film
Jack wasn't even that much of a bad guy, he just wanted to build a house.
The scene in the apartment where he's reflecting on life with the girl was kino I was not expecting
This was pretty sleazy.
When does the b***h sleep?
stupid movie for morons. it's true
