Skyler was literally written from the get-go to be an annoying b***h to demonstrate how sad Walt's life had become before he broke bad. Both people who say they didn't notice or say you're sexist for thinking so are autistic.
There's been an increased pushback against characters like Tony Soprano and Walter for embodying toxic masculinity, top comments in any video are highlighting that they are bad when they're actually meant to be sympathetic and relatable to what the average guy goes through in the US. There was a Breaking Bad short where Skyler called Walt and said she sold/throw out his baseball cards or similar just to show she is controlling. And her behavior would have made more sense since there was supposed to be an episode where she and Marie visit their abusive home, Skyler was definitely written as an abuser. But it's downplayed because the actress got a lot of hate, the writers have instead said shit like "She is as smart as Walt" and how strong she is.
The worse thing that happend to jesse was combo's death but he did even seem to be as affected by it as he was by his junkie gf and Hispanic gf deaths

Walt's ego was always a problem, I think it was made worse by having Hank and Skyler as relatives, and that they're also at fault to some extent. And yeah nobody wants to admit it, but everyone has met someone like Skyler and I'm sure the writing behind her was based off actual people, so it strikes a nerve with a lot of people, hence the hate. There are a lot of women who are just very neurotic and manipulative because they are physically weak, so that's how they fight, and that's how Skyler fought Walt most of the time.
The only times Walt's supposed ego is in question is whenever the writers need to keep the plot going.
It feels so out of character everytime Walt does something insanely moronic and the show just explains it away as "lmao ego".

I've been rewatching for the first time in about five years to get ready for the BCS finale and holy shit I'm embarrassed I ever liked this show. Nearly every scene has at least once character that makes me want to skip on to the next.

Sexism is definitely one of the reason she is so hated. I won't bother explaining why on this website, but I'm 100% that's a major factor.
