Anyone Remember this show? Ubisoft's new Captain Laserhawk reminded me of the existence of this since both shows are pure absurdity fever dream fuel. Both are also 6 episode Netflix shows set in futuristic settings in an anime style.

Cool premise that they seemed to completely eschew to talk about attire etc. I think like 1 fricking demon was fought. They might have been able to make that work in an ironic way, but Jaden Smiths incredibly wooden acting just ruined it. It was just awful. Out of touch show made by an out of touch trust fundie.
It's one of those bizarre things where you question how in the frick did it even get made in the first place.
Genuine fever dreamkino. I loved it and I absolutely thought Jaden was the perfect fit precisely because he's so off-beat and shit. Being a disaffected rich kid was his calling and he nailed it.

Netflix didn’t even produce the show. It was made for Animation Domination HD but never aired because the block got cut
Needed more Boondock mask drop moments. Jaden definitely is a little fop boy if most of this is his ideas and a lot of it screams "privleged black kid who thinks Black folk in the hood his age use words like caprese, gucchi, klein or other euro words.
Especially with his friends. I loved if that was the plan that they held back hard to keep the facade going but it always felt like the real never came out.
I am actyally more amazed that even with money they talked big names into this.
I was a doubter but a friend introduced this to me and I fell in love with it. You have no idea what you're missing.
I cut the show a bit more slack, emotional,y, after the Christmas special. Jaden complains that he wasn't really sure when the robobutler is joking, and the butler apologizes and says, "Next time I'll be a bit more on the nose, sir."
It felt like an admission of mea culpa.
The issue really was that with Jaden's acting, you never got a sense for what was comedy. A person being in the robot was obviously a joke. Caprese in a can was obviously a joke. The the absolute non reactions from the characters make it completely surreal rather than funny.
Surreal is the right word here, but I think there is value on that, in a way I think the show is about rich people so disenfranchised about the real world that their world feels surreal yet familiar.
I have no idea what the intention was behind this show but I'm loving every second of it.
All I remember from this is that I went to go watch it but couldn't remember anything about it except that the MC had pink hair. Ended up watching Saiki K instead by accident since it was also on Netflix ended up loving it. Still never got around to watching Neo Yokio though.

I love Neo Yokio is such a weird show, the best I can describe it is that if Gossip Girl didn't have a POV character so we are just looking at this out of touch super rich New Yokiers with zero context of why they do the things they do.
