God Mir really did decrease in quality after Korra you can just tell it was more real in comparison.

what's the fricking point of a show like this?

      Anonymous

You know, I agree. The concept of webtoons is already very "animation-like", the placement of the panels is often meant to emulate a slide show type of animation. So adapting a webtoon just with some janky soulless animation and voice acting is not going to do much. But webtoons are getting shilled like no other now so it doesn't surprise me Netflix is getting into this cash grab as well.

yeah but that's common sense and has been done a lot better in the past. why is he ever fat and ugly then? or is this a power he doesn't have control over?

        Anonymous

Does it also show him becoming fat again as just because he is thin now, the original issue why he became fat in the first place should still be there? Or does he magically not want to eat anymore?

Why are so many Korean webtoons about a disgusting slob who becomes hot, or their fat self dies and they’re reborn to be attractive? But there’s never any narrative point where they learn that they were beautiful all along, or that they can’t rely on quick fixes to lose weight or become more attractive, like you might see in western media. The story is like ‘yeah they were fat ugly fricks and magically fixing themselves was the right thing to do’
Hmmm as I wrote that I remembered how common plastic surgery is in South Korea, especially for teenagers and maybe that has something to do with that.

      Anonymous

People change. Korea just gets help from the magical surgery fairy. And then you end up with ugly kids who you can't tell if they're biological or not because they can't inherit plastic surgery.

      Anonymous

Well the point of this webtoon particularly is that the main character discovers how the world works as he switches between two bodies, one where he's treated badly and one where he's treated well for his looks. Kind of like Cinderella because he turns back into fat slob after midnight.

South Koreans are notoriously vain to the point where a lot of them get plastic surgery to look "attractive".
It's fricking weird, the North Koreans are starving to death and the South Koreans are fricking their faces up because of societies beauty standards

They know what kind of crap sells, think of the self insert loser that gets all the b***hes for no reason from anime. Your also on the nose, it's very normal for high schoolers to talk about getting plastic surgery, we all know their idols have done it.

Well that one is also a retelling of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but it's not quite same as there's no "evil counterpart". He also goes through diet and training so his original body becomes handsome as well but not as tall.

This isn't even a case of being conservative rather than poorly worded since the obvious point of the fricking cartoon is "don't fatshame" Like fricking babysteps, it's a country that has more plastic surgery than

Do you think there would be twitter rage for being fatphobic; ugly shaming and beauty standards, or they would just ignore it since is a male lead, therefore, "men don't have problems"?

I'd imagine that they might be more wary that it's named after an incel talking point and rather than being fatshaming it's playing into incel's rhetoric of defeatism and bitterness.
Though I never read this, so I assume ultimately there'll probably be something said about personality accounting for SOMETHING.

Well, at least it's cool finally seeing a real representatiok of how the IT girls of this era DRESS
Why the frick are they all fat? And one is bald??

They vary from stick thin or flabby fridgebody because they don't give a shit about exercising
They are only white or latina but it doesn't matter because they aspire to a specific mid tan skintone and bleached blonde hair that makes them all the same
Picrel is the perfect example as how they look

They also have a shit ton of drama with the "alt" girls, which are girls just as femenine and trendy but they pretend they're not

So ugly guy turns into hot guy and learns life is good, and that's all there is to the story?

Why not make it so the ugly guy can only be hot for a time or have it so every other day he switches, so his predicament is a wildcard for most people he interacts with.
