Netflix's Yuyu Hakusho adaptation.

How can they possibly cast Toguro? Will they change up the plot? Will it have a better ending than the anime (this is doable) Will this even make any money seeing as how obscure the franchise is?

I wouldn't call it an obscure franchise, but it's definitely not dbz, Naruto, One Piece popular. Also, it will be shit and shouldn't be made.

I hope so. If they have Yusuke investigate paranormal situations, some serious and dark while there's comfy and heart-warming drama episodes that would be kino.

I do feel they should adapt the Sensui arc, buy nerd the power levels. Focus more on how clever Territories can nullify brute force and Yusuke's demon ancestry merely allows him to tap into youki and reiki to counter Sensui's holy ki. No DBZ power ups, but more focus on investigating, teamwork and strategy.

Making it a weekly release instead of seasonally was a mistake. Seasonal have more time to work on stuff.
Despite the few shortcuts, they did keep the quality relatively high for the whole time, and a lesser studio could have easily resorted to One Piece tier shit.

The '99 version is good too but 2011 is much better. Chimera Ant Arc actually adapted, and beautifully animated. Action and overall presentation in 2011 is just on a whole other level.

This usually means trying take designs from the manga and translating them as accurately as possible, which often looks like complete ass because the design simply does not look good as a CGI asset or prop.

You might hate me for agreeing with Nolan's "realistic stylization of unrealistic things" approach but I'd be perfectly fine with Juri being depicted as a slimy skinned fish girl so long as she's still frickable.

You're an absolute homosexual. YYH has the best dub in the history of anime by a HUGE fricking margin, I understand watching sub most of the time but if you're this much of a purist it's just a meme at this point. The dub is better than the sub by thousands upon thousands of magnitutdes. Go learn japanese you fricking bug

not him, but the dub blatantly adds lines they do not say in the original and that ruins it for me. They legitimately completely change how certain characters behave at times.

You have to understand that even in the 2000's there wasn't professionalism as we have today with localizing anime scripts and presenting Japanese culture to US kids. Pokémon and Sailor Moon referred nikuman and onigiri as doughnuts because they're not familiar here.

                Anonymous

                >because they're not familiar here
Never understood that mentality. So, what if they are unfamiliar with something? Absolute horror exposing children to foreign cultures, I mean the kid might even want to go a Chinese restoraunt.

Addendum: in both of those cases, if it was fantasy food, the only thing that matters is the context, which is that it is food. And even a moronic child would be able to figure it out.

Same mentality that prevents Super Sentai to being shown in the US. Producers think their audiences are stupid and are afraid of alienating with foreign bug people.

Which brings us back to the problem that anime dubbing has but even worse. Dubbing animation is easy since the lip sequences don't look awkward compared to live action. Then there's the choice of lines I'm the dub script.

                Anonymous

dubgays often make the excuse "uh they must match the mouth flaps, that is why rewrote the entire scene"

I mean almost always there is not even an attempt to make just an idiomatic translation, but always an excuse to do almost whatever they want. For example, Goku's "I'm the hope of the universe"-superman speech, is so fundamentally out of character for Goku, that Toriyama only has him tease Freezer.

The only reason anyone would watch dub is that they can't read subtitles fast enough and, defending dubbing is just cope to hide it. I feel bad for you.

    >How can they possibly cast Toguro? Will they change up the plot?

They`ll only adapt Toguro`s first apparition as part of one of Yusuke`s cases and skip the dark tournament arc completely. They`ll most likely focus on the spirit detective stuff and rewrite the rest. If i had to guess Toguro would appear mostly for the sake of introducing Genkai (who may double as both Yusuke`s master and the first spirit detective). They`ll probably mix Saito and Sensui into a single character too and the season may end with Yusuke traveling to the demon realm or something...

Sensui looked Asian-esque. Agree with Toguro but there are buff Japanese dudes. I legit thought Japanese were all short before I was stationed there, but I've seen a lot of 5'10 to 6'2 dudes. A couple of 6'6 and 6'7 too. And some Japanese girls were 5'10 to 6 foot. So they just gotta cast a tall actor they can weight train
