Didn't the extra air sacs in dinosaur body take care of that?

        Anonymous

No. The air sac system is more efficient than bellows lungs (what we have), but the atmosphere still had double the oxygen of today and they evolved taking that into account. The animals would constantly feel winded in today's atmospheric conditions. Plus most modern plants would be poison to them.

So they would prevalently have a good diet in cold conifers-prosperous areas, but also be in a difficult spot to live there because of the temperatures much lower than what they were used to

cause he made it up. BUT, about 8 million years ago plants evolved to have way more silica to the point that it was harder to digest and would wear down teeth much much faster and it caused an extinction event.

so it wouldnt be poisonous, it would melt their teeth and plug their intestines

bro the film industry is entirely dead. video games have eclipsed film and music and tv. interactive media is the future and ai-generated self-directed fictional stories are the obvious end game: where the content consumer can choose what the story/characters they are watching/playing in a game are doing, etc.

sooner than you think we will have endless ai generated iterations of all the best/most popular shows out there. AI The Simpsons episodes, AI Star Wars, AI The Office episodes, etc where consumers can just say "I wanna watch a new Star Wars movie about a transgender gungan jedi escaping a nazi concentration camp" and it will just be generated on demand.

alright paleontologistbros, someone explain why the frick they think t-rex has feathers now. I mean the whole point of feathers on birds is to help with flight aerodynamics if I'm not mistaken so why would a dinosaur with arms the size of noodles need it
    >inb4 flightless birds have feathers
    they're descended from flightful birds
    >dinosaurs had feathers for mating displays/environmental protection/whatever
you don't need feathers specifically for that - scales, skin, and hair work just fine, and why would dinosaurs randomly evolve feathers just cause

      Anonymous

Feathers evolved first to help retain body warmth as Dinosaurs developed endothermic metabolisms.
Over time they adapted for display and eventually flight.
Feathers could never have evolved just for flight, since they're only useful (at all) for that after already becoming long, strong and complex. Over selection drivers had to have brought them to that stage.

Thermal insulation, useful in all environmental situations
They would be more like developing chick feathers than fully structured feathers, some intermediate form of pic rel
so more similar to a thick version of mammalian fur
What I'm not sold on is that a dino as big as the T-Rex would have a full coat of feathers, big mammals in hotter areas of the world have mostly lost fur, and we know dinos were hot blooded like mammals, so the parallels work IMHO

        Anonymous

its more or less now agreed that the chicks only had them

          ah I see, neat
so the pics/drawings of t-rex, allosaurus etc etc being all extra feathery I see around the internet are themselves an already outdated scientifically inaccurate idea? kek

            Anonymous

Yeah, the smaller the animal the smaller the ratio of surface area to internal volume, and hence the greater loss of heat. So the need for insulation increases, which is why little birds are so fluffy.

The funniest thing about the dogshit "theory" about feather evolution is that the first unambiguously feathered organism (Archaeopteryx) already has the most advanced feathers present (asymmetrical flight feathers).

      Anonymous

      >I mean the whole point of feathers on birds is to help with flight aerodynamics
not exactly, feathers never evolved for flight. Feathers main purpose is for thermoregulation and was a trait that was shared by both dinosaurs and pterosaurs( some people do argue that even pseudosuchian). Dinosaurs merely took this feature and expanded it further in the case of the dinos more closer to birds while in general those that evolved larger sizes lost them for obvious reasons.
      >someone explain why the frick they think t-rex has feathers now
this is old news now but the main idea is that as chicks they had full feathers but would later lose them as adult which is something you can see in elephants as the calf are kinda hairy but the adults only have a few scanty remaining hair.

      Anonymous

The only published paper on T.rex skin impressions concluded that all known evidence points to a scaly T.rex

There is no question that some related Tyrannosaurs had feathers or protofeathers, such as Yutyrannus. All claims that juveniles were feathered is only inferred.

It is possible that it varied depending on habitat. Think of the example of Elephants and Mammoths. T.rex, the North American dinosaur of the Late Cretaceous was certainly a scaly beast. That's what the fossil ls say.

It makes more sense that hair evolved into feathers which then evolved into flight support
Than going straight to flight support

Because they're trannies. T. rex never had feathers. There has been an intense push to force every mesozoic reptile into having feathers, but not only is that not true, but it turns out a lot of animals that were thought to have them never did.

      >why the frick they think t-rex has feathers now
You are several years late, friend.
We got skin impressions from T.rex and guess what : only scales.
So now feathers gay reverted to
      >O-Ok, j-just let's say i-it had some sparse f-feathers..

So which one had the better and/or more accurate dinos? are the guesses they took at linking dino behavior with modern animal a detriment or a positive for the portrayal?

Sorry man, whatever they did with my beloved Allosaurus in LOOP disqualifies them completely in my eyes. Also give me your favourite allo depictions in media brehs

Life on our Planet was really good all round. There isn't too much focus on dinos, though. Only 2-4 out of 8 episodes that focus more or less on them.

Would recommend the whole thing, though.

PeePee has multiple scientific inaccuracies and at least one dead baby dinosaur in every single episode.

Jurassic Park is a perfect film. It doesn't need a reboot, sequel, prequel, etc. There's nothing you can do with it (even when assuming you're actually competent) that will surpass the original film.

Do they not realize that the dinosaurs at Jurassic Park are genetically modified monsters? Authenticity was never a concern.

It sort of was at the time. This was still in the 90s before the troony renaissance. Jurassic Park was literally the peak of the anatomically rigorous paleoart trend. That's why even to this day the original concept art is some of the most accurate ever made. But the speculative stuff like the Dilophosaurus frill are right from the book and troons seem to forget they served a moral purpose, not a scientific one. They were put there to illustrate that man was fricking with things he didn't understand and black swan occurrences would be the result. Speculative bullshit nowadays is about lookame attention grabbing and uncontrolled sexual fetishes.
