As far as I'm aware, Punch Punch Forever doesn't have Japanese fans. Compare that to how Digital Circus was received there, with popup stores and official merch.

PPF itself is good is because it's a labor of love that doesn't see the light of day until Speedo is satisfied with the episode so he gets to take his time and go all out, that sort of approach goes out the window when you get told "have 20 episodes ready by next April here's 3 million dollars", you just can't put out work this dense with creativity in a TV production pipeline unless you're Vernon Chatman and John Lee.

As much as I love his work, I don't think the output is enough to justify the speed to make one. I'd argue that with something like Smiling Friends and Hazbin, it's easier to "cheat" some process to shit out episodes more quicker. Speedo's art style heavily requires patience if they want to maintain the art quality.
Does it mean he can never work on a TV deal ever? No but in the company's part, they need to consider the resources they need if they want to produce something like this in a more steady pace.

PPF itself is good is because it's a labor of love that doesn't see the light of day until Speedo is satisfied with the episode so he gets to take his time and go all out, that sort of approach goes out the window when you get told "have 20 episodes ready by next April here's 3 million dollars", you just can't put out work this dense with creativity in a TV production pipeline unless you're Vernon Chatman and John Lee.

As much as I love his work, I don't think the output is enough to justify the speed to make one. I'd argue that with something like Smiling Friends and Hazbin, it's easier to "cheat" some process to shit out episodes more quicker. Speedo's art style heavily requires patience if they want to maintain the art quality.
Does it mean he can never work on a TV deal ever? No but in the company's part, they need to consider the resources they need if they want to produce something like this in a more steady pace.

The most successful internet to mainstream guys in animation have been Smiling Friends and Adult Swim pretty famously is handsoff and experimental. Most tv stations wouldn't know how to handle a guy saying "the show will only be subtitled...as a joke" even Adult Swim had to be fought to air the subs of anime for April Fools one time.
