>J.G. Quintel’s new “Regular Show” and Craig McCracken’s “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” spin-off both feature in a new production slate from Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.
>Unveiled Wednesday at Annecy, they join a new “Adventure Time” series, “Side Quests,” as greenlights at the Warner-owned companies.
>The news slate also boasts two more “Adventure Time” shows in development, plus an unannounced Scooby-Doo project.
>The big question raised by the studio’s Annecy focus is whether the surge in new shows is a temporary anomaly or marks a broader indicator of a more sustained return by Warner Bros. Discovery to fuller-on animation production after the lull of the recent past.

new IPs are a no go?
Companies are too cucked to come up with anything new. Close Enough was already a spiritual successor to Regular Show but they screwed the release for several years before it finally came out. However the only thing WB took away from that was "NEW BAD, OLD GOOD"
Like 3 new shows, 2 that are unique IPs (Invincible Fight Girl and Get Jiro) were also announced today, alongside updates on Primal S3, Harley Quinn S5. Batman Caped Crusader and some more shit, so chill the frick out, homosexual.
New Regular Show feels like an apology to JG Quintell after cancelling Close Enough.
I wonder if he'll be clever and put Close Enough characters in this new Regular Show, just out of spite.
>Time Skip Regular Show
>Mordecai and his wife run into the Close Enough gang and have a wacky misadventure for an episode
>adventure time
>regular show
>gumball
>in 2024
2010 is 2024, time is a flat circle
Except no Steven Universe or Ben 10
good
steven universe will always be considered a 20's show to me even though it came out in the mid 10's. Ben10 imo is a 2000s show.
>steven universe will always be considered a 20's show to me even though it came out in the mid 10's.
>20s

By that metric, the Beatles were a 70s band
Yeah, I don’t know what he’s talking about. The ending of SU was like the drawing of the curtain on the era of 10s cartoons
>no Steven Universe
Good. Let it rot on its grave.
Agreed
Since there's a huge demand for more SU and the fans are extremely vocal about it I can see them greenlighting a spin-off or another movie in the following years.
They should make one for adult swim where the gems have sex with humans and stuff h-haha
Haha yeah that'd be so cool
Source NOW
HecticArts.
After all the trouble the gems have caused Steven, the least they should do is repay him with an orgy.
there's speculation about another sequel series, this time with adult steven
I'll accept a new Steven Universe series if and only if Blue Diamond appears in every other episode. Anything less is laughable.
And make her topless please. I want to see her adorable big blue boobies.
Terrible idea, but I wouldn't take one poster to signify a confirmation for a sequel series. She is the creator, she can draw whatever she wants whenever she feels like it and that doesn't mean is new show is happening.
>no Steven Universe
I wouldn't be so sure about that...
You were cryptic on the other thread and nothing was announced, move on.
>he doesn't know
Pussy
stop crying
Kinda sad cn in 1995 and 2010 were like 2 different worlds but now around 2025 (or later when these shows finally release) they’re banking on their previous saviors to save their ass again basically admitting that anything post 2012 was a complete failure for them
Nick disney and cn and just everything in the world started getting weird around then and then things have been mostly the same since 017 besides covid
>Creator of “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,” which won Emmys and Annies, Craig McCracken (also known for “Powerpuff Girls”) is back with a completely new original series targeting pre-schoolers. In it, a now-young group of preschool imaginary friends learns from an immature elder friend, Bloo, who, as in the original, still unintentionally gets things wrong. McCracken has promised the same fast pace but a fun, simpler structure and less cynical humor. Only Bloo and Madame Foster return.
>Bloo teaches a bunch of preschoolers the fun in smoking
Annnnd that's how you do a french inhale!
They don’t have lungs anyway
No frankie? Guess she's in college
Isn’t she 22 shouldn’t she have finished college already?
Wrong, college is for all ages. She can repeat back.
Frankie is living in college (Mac’s college room)
wasn't expecting Mac to be a kidnapper
Will there be a Bendy redemption arc in the series?
>return of bloo
>Bloo proceeds to tech them swears.
Lol I can see it being entertaining although I hope we get a new gang of imaginary friends(unlikely cuz membaberries!11!1 but still) the old imaginary friends should have found good homes and only brief appearances.
Hope we get to see aged up Mac dating Franky
Mac & Frankie will "Not" return.
Read.
The.
Article.
Not if it means a bump in ratings.
This preschool show is not gonna be bump. why are you raising fake hope about this?
Not rasing fake hope just acknowledging this shows only ganering factor is nostogia bait. Thus the executives are clearly desperate as frick and would definitely bait returning favorites that would attract people for five seconds even if thier in the background/referenced.
But as the article says, right now they're not planning any cameo or reference on the preschool spin off. And also, it's guaranteed to become possible tax write off since Zaslav isn't going anywhere.
Mac won't return because he'll be a new person after transitioning
Will you shut up anon??!!! Not again with the bullshit transition jokes, you suck on that.
>less cynical humor.
God fricking-is this really the standard now? nothing can be fricking cynical? first the new fairly oddparents and now this.
fricking, no wonder kids nowadays only watch skibidi and porn. the frick is this
In fairness Foster's is the one show everybody always shits on solely for muh mean spiritedness. Not sure why
Probably because Fosters had some key episodes that really pissed people off that people still bring up to this day kek. Shit like the Bendy, Europe, and Surprise Party episodes made people seethe
>Shit like the Bendy, Europe, and Surprise Party episodes made people seethe
Those were great.
They were fine as episodes aside from the Bendy one which even the crew regrets doing. It's just it makes one wonder why the frick Mac even bothers to go there.
I blame Powerpuff Girls 2016 and Total Dramarama for this
Cynicism is so Gen X. Wholesomeness is the new hotness.
GenXers grew up when it was cool to hate and blame Disney for your failures. Millennials grew up believing everything would eventually work itself out like a Saturday morning cartoon.
Did you miss the part where it's a cartoon for actual babies
The series is targeting PRE-SCHOOLERS
This is not a cartoon for you.
Can't wait for this show to die in one short season because the block it was designed for, Cartoonito, got killed recently and there's no place for it anymore.
>Madame Foster return.
IF our Madame Foster has kicked the bucket, Frankie would be the NEW Madame Foster and Craig wouldnt be lying with that statement
Madame Foster is immortal.
I'm glad JG gets to do another show, even if it's just more Regular Show.
He seems like the last person in this industry who was actually cool and chill and not just completely annoying.
Disappointing news all around though, Jesus Christ this industry is bleak as frick.
>I'm glad JG gets to do another show, even if it's just more Regular Show.
Well I'm mad specifically because it's not something new. Feels dumb to have him go back to Regular Show when Close Enough was RIGHT THERE. God, Warner Bros. just continues to disappoint. Apparently a new adult series(?) is also happening, so the forced Regular Show continuation feels even dumber now
The messy art style looks as if the Robot Jones creator is behind the project?
I get where you're coming from, but I don't see it
> Apparently a new adult series(?) is also happening
a regular show continuation with adult mordecai and rigby on [AS] could be cool, although i don't really see how you could make regular show 'adult' in a good way
Regular Show works because it's NOT adult.
breaks it down pretty well.
that's exactly what i mean, it had that "kinda knows about sex but not really" vibe that most teens had at the time, which is a core part of the show. it's very reminiscent of growing into adulthood as a whole, with mordo and rigs going from slackers to good workers, getting ladies and maturing as people. having a nu-regular show with them already as adults loses that vibe
Then say to yourself with assurance anon "IF NO ONE IS GOING TO CHANGE THIS BLEAK INDUSTRY, THEN I WILL!"
>He seems like the last person in this industry who was actually cool and chill and not just completely annoying.
I think so too. CE was mostly disappointing because of things outside his control, more or less.
The series getting chopped down to 11 minutes after already having 22 minute episodes completed is not something I'll forget. On top of the new crew that felt better placed on Steven Universe putting in Cali politics since the show and setting allowed for it. Obviously JG's too nice of a guy and definitely not going to put himself in a bad position and looked down on by saying "your idea for a feminist uprising episode with strawmen about men stepping on women and keeping them from being seen as human sounds fine, but I'm not sure I want that to be in my show"
How did the setting allow For politics? Its a park
I'm talking about CE, its setting was just california adults living together doing california adult things.
How many of these will be made into tax write offs?
The prequel shows will
Nothing good ever ends
Mao Mao will never come back 🙂
>Nothing POPULAR and good ever ends
Ftfy. If the former where the case
would be wrong
So is the PPG reboot cancelled?
No, but in very early stages of pre-production.
Well according to something Craig posted on Twitter recently it was never actually a reboot to begin with, and rather some special project presumably akin to Dance Pantsed. Which is funny because I very distinctly remember it being called a reboot from the word go.
more Villainous… please…
Alan Ituriel, the Villainous creator, did upload this cryptically yesterday.
I’m pretty sure this is just for the upcoming books, I need the second half of season 1 to drop already damn it.
Yeah probably. Highly doubt CN even gives a shit about Latam shows to show off at Annecy, it's gotta be all US crap.
there's not really a reason for them to talk about shows in an english convention that don't air anywhere besides latam
There have also been more posts with that mime girl villainess lately too
That’s just typical teasing from AI Animation studios, they always do it between lulls of actual substantial Villanos stuff and doesn’t really indicate anything
Good. I hope that show rots for good. The shorts were promising but the actual show is terrible and very hard to watch unless you want to frick one of the characters. I do hope CN LA gets to do more original productions though.
>but the actual show is terrible and very hard to watch unless you want to frick one of the characters
You either have a nonsensical vendetta with how aggressive you are about your opinion or are projecting very, very hard because the show is pretty fricking good.
That show went to shit immediately when they started to incorporate CN characters into it. As a way to win back the old CN crowd.
The frick are you talking about, that was just the orientation videos. The CN stuff is just background cameos in the full show and doesn’t impact the actual episodes in the slightest
>it's not fake
Oh my god. Everyone hack responsible for this endless recycling of old ideas needs the boot.
so will Mordecai and Rigby finally be the gay couple they deserved to be?
Get the frick did you get that gross idea anon!! JG Quintel never shipped them.
So Frick You Diddy!!!!
I'd watch that
You know who else will finally get to be a gay couple?
>Faith in IPs
Bad.
>Bringing in original veteran creators
Good.
>Fewer new original series
Bad.
>Repurposing old IPs for pre-schoolers
Bad.
Mixed feelings, to be sure. It's good they're bringing back McCracken and Quintel for the reboots, but under what conditions would they be working? Is WB fixing the underlying problems like cultural hegemony, nepotism, lack of accountability, and activist distractions at the studio? Have they re-examined mandates that haven't worked in their favor?
Looking at WB as a whole, I'm not sure any of that has happened in earnest. They are not looking to engineer a turnaround, they're just prepping themselves for a different level of survival. They act like they'd be happy with a bronze medal.
An issue like this is an ez fix, bring in new fresh potential talent to carry the reigns with veteran creators to be on the back foot for them to offer support and cohesion on the new talent's work instead of bringing back old IPs. It'll be a rocky start like anything else, but authenticity with originality sounds better than repurposing old IPs
>An issue like this is an ez fix, bring in new fresh potential talent
Cinemaphile doesn't want new potential talent. new potential talent is too brown, too queer, and has too many subversive ideas.
They are making it sound like the Regular Show series is going to be something following different characters in the same universe and not a show focused on Mordecai and Rigby
clearly it's Regular Show GX with new slackers
Rordicai and Migby
So just like the original concept?
The announcement makes no sense to me. Regular Show's setting was pretty empty outside of the main Park gang, and we already explored their lives pretty thoroughly. Literally what spin-off potential even is there? A sequel series also doesn't make sense seeing as the original series already followed a cast of adults figuring out their lives along the way. It really bugs me that this "new series" is untitled. If it ends up being so far removed from Regular Show, then it might as well have been a whole new thing on its own.
Oh wait--
I'd love to see how fans will try and justify this new series. We did NOT need more Regular Show.
I'm down for more Regular Show although I would have been fine if they just continued Close Enough as that was basically the same thing.
> that watercolor background
Cartoons these days are missing that sort of unique identity. The background line work is simple yet charming.
That's honestly the best route to go if you have to bring back Regular Show at this point.
That'd be worth watching
Literally close enough
>Regular Show, Adventure Time and Fosters get rebooted
>Still nothing on Billy and Mandy and Galactic KND
>Billy and Mandy and Galactic KND
Those shows sucked anyway.
stfu anonymous WB executive
Actually, Billy and KND will feature in Jellystone’s two part season finale
>Billy and Mandy
They're not touching the hateful fart cartoon ever again, specially with Maxwell spilling all the beans behind the current industry trends
Our only hope is something like Netflix or Prime buying the IP and letting Maxwell work on the movie he wants to make
>billy and mandy
the show was getting kind of bad in the final season. a product of its time.
>Galactic KND
Actually pretty sad tbh. Warburton tried so hard for it to get off the ground and the executives shot it down each time. If he waited another ten years he could have banked on nostalgia and desperation to get it greenlit.
>a fricking Hanuman movie
GOOD MORNING SIR
Honestly I'm more interested than not, I think the alternative would be something from the newer crop of (east) asian american writers and showrunners, who seem to be more self-loathing and insular then their parents.
Adapting myths into cartoons is badass, and Hindu myths are awesome. I don't see how this is a bad thing.
>Katie Rice
I'm listening
>annoying quirky b***h
im tired of seeing your constant autistic spam about her because you want to frick her
Any news on Velma 2.0? Or is that written off as a tax off too?
>black betty
based. i hope they update the character model for it.
They should just make one big Cartoon Network City series with all the characters from all the 2000's shows.
frick... the more i think about this... i mean if gumball was successful this could actually do really well. problem is they'd definitely put yucky characters in like squirrel boy and gym partner monkey.
The Adult Swim panel is tomorrow.
Tomorrow is gonna be just mostly Gumball
So then the movie is definitely cancelled and this new season is our compensation reward? Wouldn't get why else there's been no talk of the movie in ages at this point
>
Tomorrow is gonna be just mostly Gumball
>So then the movie is definitely cancelled and this new season is our compensation reward?
The movie was always meant to send off the original series and lead into the reboot. I don't know why they're going ahead with the reboot but not making the transitional movie. They obviously love Gumball and at some points have overly aired it right along with TTG. They're still funding a NEW SERIES for it, but they can't even give the movie a home? It was still in production, but being forced to shop around to other distributors.
We dont know if the movie is canned or not we'll know tomorrow if its up or not conaidsering Gumball has its own panel to showcase whats in store for the show
also its not a reboot its season 7
Anything on Unicorn S2?
>primal season 3
oh yeah, i forgot about how genndy openly talked about turning that into a full on franchise. i'm fine with the idea on paper, showing primal behavior in various scenarios and not being grounded to a main character, but the reason people loved primal was because of spear and fang. it's really weird to have 2 seasons focused on those characters and then suddenly it becomes about anyone and everyone in any point in time.
and no, i really don't want to see a genndy have to do a woman character (because only doing male characters 24/7 would look bad) and have the woman stressed out by societal pressure "go primal." i don't want the annoying commentary related to that scenario and i don't want the waifugays obsessing over a woman going nuclear and murdering men
He seems to be on a pulp-y streak and Primal could have everything but literal hollow earth-style plots in it.
>waifugays obsessing over a woman going nuclear and murdering men
I mean did anyone really dislike Ashi or her sisters running around covered in soot for half a season?
I'll be pissed if this happens
This caught me off guard but I guess it shouldn't have. I just didn't think RS would be getting a revival, at least not any time soon, because it seemed like the execs were completely done with it and by the end hated it was even on the network at all.
I'm concerned for multiple reasons even if I do feel a bit of happiness knowing JG's sticking around for a little longer. A continuation, Mordecai and Rigby as full adults is interesting. They made the comic spinoff about it but with how gay and annoying the original show's comics were, I wasn't touching that. But on the other end, there's also the problem of how the report says there's a possibility the revival isn't about them and could more be on a new cast. That reminds me of those shitty quickly tossed together new park members Benson was talking to in the finale montage. That'd suck to see them be the focus, they clearly weren't meant to be seen longer than a few seconds.
But my #1 concern with more Regular Show is, it simply doesn't work today. Not because of the innuendo or whatever, but because it was very much a guy's show. CJ was ok, but Eileen was a real example of what typical cartoon female characters are. Whenever she was around it felt like I was watching a cartoon Big Bang Theory, complete with her awkwardly trying to do the guys' catchphrases like "YEAYAH!" or "STOP TALKING"
Close Enough had some shitty new people behind it which is how we got an entire episode about how the patriarchy is awful and women need to rise up. I can't trust new Regular Show to not have some shitty modern writing in it anymore.
True, however, the fact that JG Quintel is still behind the show gives me hope, I think he didn't have much of a hand in the later seasons hence why you get shit like Eileen forced intrusion and mordesimp eps
I'm cautiously optimistic
Whatever happened to Close Enough
Cancelled after three seasons, season four was written before the cancellation.
Hopefully.
I didn't even know that show had one season.
Holy shit that article is so poorly written. Not just bad stylistically but tons of spelling and grammatical errors. And this from Variety? Everything is so cooked.
on god bro, the way the article unveils the AT spinoff series threw me off at first
>all these articles relaying the information from Annecy as the new Regular Show series mainly being its own thing that happens to include "select characters"
I don't understand. Regular Show is explicitly Mordecai, Rigby and their lives. It's one of the only cartoons I can think of that doesn't work for a reboot. You can reboot basically anything but Regular how is very strictly about those characters, in a mundane realistic world. The craziness is secluded in that mundane world, it ISN'T the world, like with Adventure Time. What the frick am I even supposed to feel excited about?
The RS spinoff will be revolved around Eileen and Margaret and it's going to be dogshit
Eileen only ever got more insufferable as it went on. Every time she was in an episode it was like watching The Big Bang Theory, except at least with that show Mellisa Rauch was a cute hot blonde, given a pair of glasses. and had awesome breasts that I fantasize about to this day. Nothing about Eileen was likeable beyond her earliest, earliest appearances when everyone treated her like an awkward moron they didn't really care about. She fit right in with the crude nature of the show where only an immortal buff yeti is particularly praised by anyone.
If she's anywhere in the revival, and a series always needs a character like her now so she will be, she'll basically be an unfiltered Lisa Simpson. You already have her in the original being declared "a megababe" and saying shit like "it's common in such a male-dominated profession."
The worst part is, any revival with Mordecai and Rigby has to have her because he married her. I don't want to see house husband Rigby sitting around to have all the lazy tropey Homer-isms of a husband while Eileen is out being some amazing space researcher.
schizophrenia on display
Just looks like your averange annoyed post to me. I miss when this board existed before everyone started spamming schizo/schizophrenia directed at anything and everything.
>I miss when this board existed before everyone started spamming schizo/schizophrenia directed at anything and everything.
It's just some normie morons
>Eileen only ever got more insufferable as it went on
That applies western female characters in general lol
I didn't like Foster or RS when they were airing.
and I don't think I'll like them now.
>still doing nothing with Ben 10
god
Ben 10 has like 26262 spin-offs, it doesn't need another one
American animation is really down the gutter. how long until TTGo gets spin off?
we are so fricking back
I feel… absolutely nothing
>new Adventure Time series that's multiple new seasons set between 4 and 5 of the original series
Weird
>Adventure Time movie directed by Rebecca Sugar
Weirder
>a preschool series set after nuclear war has killed virtually all humans
Weirdest
If they're so hot to revive old IP, why are KND and Billy and Mandy left to rot?
> Billy and mandy reboot
I thought Atom was against a reboot? Or was it they wanted to babify it and he said frick no.
I'm a zoomer and I hate that warner is pandering to you 30/40+ year olds when I personally never understood the appeal of Adventure Time/Regular Show and just want my favorite show Mao Mao to be brought back
>I hate that warner is pandering to you 30/40+ year olds
Nah, they're pandering to late teens/early 20s. If they were pandering to true oldgays, we'd get Galactic Kids Next Door & Billy and Mandy Destroy Us All.
>pandering to late teens/early 20s
I'm early twenties and advocated for the KND galactic back when it floated around as a kid. This is pandering twoards adults who like to mindlessly CONSUME I personally would rather see some mao mao too. That being said I do know people in my life who ate the FnC shit up and bought merchandise on top of it.
Mao Mao's fate is a fricking tragic tale and I shudder when I think about the fact that it's about to be half a decade since.
I'm 20 and I don't care for regular show, and when I was a kid and adventure time first came out I knew adult men in my life that were more interested in it then I was. Adventure Time is for older people, the cartoons I grew up with were chowder and gumball.
I don't know how you could not be into regular show when it came out. The only kids I know who didn't watch it were the kids whose parents saw the pilot and forbade them from seeing it again.
Probably because I was born in 2004? I was literally 6 when it came out and most of what happened in that show went over my head. It's obviously more for teens then it is for little kids
>born in 2004
I was 8 and it was the funniest shit ever
>The only kids I know who didn't watch it were the kids whose parents saw the pilot and forbade them from seeing it again.
Idk he said he was 6 at the time. I was 8 at the time and I loved it. Maybe your thinking of older children and pre teens.
Nothing but respect for Mao Mao fans for dealing with their show basically just disappearing overnight and not becoming bitter over it
Haha, yeah I know right?
Didn't the WB CEO said those cartoons are worthless?
I would really, really prefer for these creators to make something new instead of companies continually just wheeling out old shit
I'm sure the creators would prefer that too, but they got to put food on the table somehow.
McCracken has said this in interviews, he tries to pitch new shows but nobody’s taking
Was Craig making more than the Fosters show for preschoolers and PPG reboot? I didnt realize Fosters was a preschool show.
No Clarence reboot?
Hell no!!! Why do you want that?!
Will this new Regular Show still be a "censored adult swim show in CN" with a PG 13 rating or would they be allowed to actually make more mature jokes
...Actually, wouldn't that end up as just Close Enough?
I'm gonna be honest, most of the censored jokes in Regular Show came across much funnier than the uncensored ones in Close Enough, even more considering the funniest moments of Close Enough had nothing to do with stuff that would be censored in PG13
>video related
>we missed multiple extra minutes of the girls hooked up clockwork orange style forced to watch ads
frick tbs
Forget Regular Show and Foster's Home for second. They're still dedicated to wringing more stories out of Adventure Time?
The Fionna and Cake miniseries apparently did pretty well on streaming, though another TWO spinoffs and a movie seems ridiculous
AT and PPG are like the most milked CN shows ever.
Invincible Fight Girl is a miniseries
>10 episodes
dead on arrival
Weird, seemed like it was meant to be set for longer storytelling. But maybe they saw the writing on the wall and decided not to risk it. Hope they had a good ending in mind.
>generic fighting female lead and weak male friend
>"anime inspired" from california which means all the worst anime tropes and reformatted to be applicable to western sensibilities
Thank god, I want it to come and go as soon as possible.
They didn’t say it, though…?
interesting
Why didn’t they show off anything from the powerpuff girls reboot?
Genndy exploded live on set.
I don't mean got pissed off, but like he deviantart inflated and popped. They're covering this up hard right now but if you know where to look you'll see people reacting to it. Rumors say it was because he knew the new reboot would have HAFNIM in it like the last one. The last reboot he had no involvement in, so he wouldn't blame himself. But it makes sense he couldn't handle something he worked on incorporating HAFNIM into it.
Hhhot.
In Topeka.
I'm not too sure about reviving Regular Show. It was a really good show but it fell off a bit after season 6. Nonetheless though, Quintel's writing hasn't changed a bit for the past decade, if he's still directing the show then maybe it could be good
>but it fell off after season 4.
Fify, Regular show at season 5 onwards felt repetitive and relied on melodrama and loregayging that nobody cared about
>New Regular Show [...]
my mind can't process this
i'm still in 2016 when i remember mark hamill tweeting season "7" was the last, it getting deleted, and everyone talking in the thread about the series ending (with season 8) and how i realized there was nothing left i'd want to watch
all these years later nothing changed from that point, and regular show getting included in the obsessed exec tradition of revivals isn't registering to me
where have all the good men gone, and where are all the gods...
Give it a few years and Matt will probably be roped in to working on a GF revival
Couldn't they have just renewed Close Enough? A fourth season was written and everything
No, nobody watched it because it wasn't an established property.
