To be fair game of thrones, while getting progressively shitty in its final seasons had me forgiving it because I and many others believed it was just streamlining it’s way to an ending. Like George had given them the ending they had strayed away from the plot and had to get the characters and plot threads in place to tell the proper ending. Because of this I was very forgiving of season 6 and 7 being shitty because it still felt like it was going somewhere and the early good plot threads that were hanging were still worth riding out to see the end even if the journey was getting bumpy. After the shit that was season 8 it retroactively became much harder to forgive 5-7 which weren’t streamlining things to race towards the ending, they were actually just pointless shit for the most part. So there’s a legitimate reason people who were defending the series until the end now hate more than just the finale, it retroactively made so many things from the penultimate seasons truly pointless.
I like the latter seasons of GoT, including the ending just as much as the early seasons, and you literally can't stop me

The problem is inconsistency. You can't have a character with so much screen time in 6 seasons voice just change so dramatically. It just fucks everything. It's hard to get over.
