how many people liked the original show? I never gave it a chance nor cared at all. Seemed like e celeb SHIT and I've not been convinced otherwise. I got a lot of real shit to watch, I can't waste my time on sub-sub effort trash.

As a fan of hadel's internet shenanigan's I didn't care for the show really. Internet comedians really should stay here, the studio is not suited to the kind of shit they are into.
REALLY do not know what the obsession is with "making it big" in the industry for a lot of these internet artists. You'd think they'd hear enough horror stories and just stay out.

hey, look at this vast landscape of infinite possibility where you could create ANYTHING AT ALL with no oversight and gain millions of fans who are interested in whatever you say, as long as it's authentic and interesting with no studio executive wiener to let RAPE YOU for the chance of having your show shoved into the worst time slot, canceled after one episode, and used to write off taxes. What do you thing?
Almost all internet creatives: I'd murder my own mother to get a pitch meeting with Disney.

man thats what baffles me. you hear these cartoon homosexuals b***h and complain about "DISNEY CANCELLED MY SHOW WHAAA" and "I CANT BELIVE WARNER BROTHERS IS NEGLECTING TO ADVERTISE MY SHITTY CARTOON!!!!"

you know what chuckle fricks, I got a a thought.
we are in a world where you can post your shitty gy gay cartoon to the world, without multi million dollar companies breathing down your neck, giving you full creative control. Plus, people can watch your shit free without having to wait it on cable or on streaming making is more accessible.

But nooo. continue to go to these big corporations and act shocked and confused when they suddenly cancel your crap, or neglect to market the show, or anything that would go against your art.

its even more moronic because the gaytards who make cartoons these days are all terminally online. Why do they still bother with trying to get there cartoons greenlit by people who are purly in it for the money??

The only, and I mean ONLY reason I can really see any libtard default to a big studio is because they believe they could have enough funds to back the show and enough crew to help out. To be frank though, thats still a shitty reason. because if people like your show, they will gladly donate or buy the merch to fund your project. Plus i dont think people care too much if you take awhile on an episode. if anything that shows that your putting as much effort into your cartoon.

what im saying is that cartoon directors are all moronic tumbler brain idiots who should kill themselves because millennials are a blight on society at large.

Simply put, artists are consoomers, therefore materialistic despite the virtue-signaling. They are even more brainwashed than non-creatives to cling to capital in various forms, especially social capital. Being creative meant they shirked other outlets of productivity, so their work ethic may be shit or they lack value systems that would allow them to exercise freedom outside of "consume product, get excited for next product". Being an independant animator requires skills such as fiscal responsibility, leadership, long-term planning, and a host of traits that would make someone successful in private business. That last part goes against the progressive programming that afflicts most US artists: in order to draw you must be a broke starving hippie whose only friends should be other starving hippies. Yeah Disney did alot to monopolize animation in USA, but that also stemmed from Hollywood's overt hostility to animation: If you want to animate, you are already a pariah in media, if you don't join Disney you will never be accepted by media you consume. This is why promising artists flock to LA to be homeless, they'd rather be homeless with other artists than working on their own independant animation in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.

Non-US animators are waaaaay more mentally well-adjusted than US animators, because they didn't get battered from decades of propaganda on what an animator should be.

People here adored it when the first season was running outside of that one schizo. I think the Brazil special was a lot more divisive since it was one of those "the joke is that there is no joke and they just waste the viewer's time" type specials.

FNF is an open source game and is unbelievable piss easy to modify, to the point that anybody and I mean ANYBODY can make stuff for it if they wanted to. Which means quality control is all the over the place and that means the music, the thing that made the game take off like it did, can range from decent to horrid.
A good chunk of FNF Pibby mods are awful to the point of being content farm garbage trash and it left a bad taste to everyone who was interested in Pibby.

It's the closest thing to classic ATHF humor right now. The only diffrence is while ATHF was pure absurdism (which is not at all bad, the show is one of the best comedies ever) Smiling Friends does ground itself on a central theme of "What it means to be happy" but not in a pretentious or in your face way. But it was there enough to create a dedicated autist to spam about the show being "propaganda".

          >The pranks have been abysmal lately
I think tbh they set the bar too high.
          They had a golden run:
          2017 - Rick & Morty S3 + added Samurai Jack fan butthurt
          2018 - Japanese Toonami + Bushworld Aventures
2019 - Gemusettu Machu Pichu (which was fricking kino and too good for a shitpost)
2020 - Post Malone Stealth Premieres (this shit had me so hype and made me fall in love with adult swim again)

After that it just got more and more disapointing
2021 - Adult Swim Junior (sponsored prank that ended at 1:30)
          2022 - Pibby shit
2023 - teased steath premieres again but ended up only showing 5 minute segments of new episodes, at least we got Space Ghost Fire Ant, that was nice

So Smiling Friends Season 2 will be one of the better nights even if it isn't a prank.

Adult Swim LatAm doesn't have a SINGLE Fox cartoon on it's lineup since Disnet LatAm closed most of it's channels and made all the Fox shows exclusive to Disney Plus not allowing them to be aired on TV, truly a blessing

Mr Pickels was fricking weird because dispite clearly having a decent premise and full creative control they refused to actually commit to the bit most of the time so most of every episode is just aimless bullshit.

It was a funny cartoon that got ruined by executive meddling.

            >Season 1 - each episode follows the killer dog formula - very funny
            >Season 2 - beginning to experiment, focusing on side characters and creating lore - still funny but a couple of duds
Then, executives told the creators to focus more on the townspeople and less on Mr Pickles
            >Season 3 - Pickles is now a background character, each episode is aimless, boring shit
            >Season 4 - they fricking kill mr pickles and do a sherriff spin off

          >dude you have been waiting so long here episodes 1 like 10 times in a row lmao!
Jackgay butthurt was a bonus but they couldn’t have planned for that.

2018 was great since it’s likely the last prank Toonami will get. Bushworld was an excellent bonus

2019 was awful and I’m tired of contrarians saying it was good

Brazil episode was pretty good, so they're gonna have to outdo themselves this time around. Would be funny if the new episode either involved the Smiling Friends theme song for 11 minutes or if it was some overly dramatic Series Finale-esque episode where Pim and Charlie part ways.

However Velma is slated to air a new season on a TBD date in April, and the 12:30 and 1 AM slots would indicate a 26 minute show instead of a 22 minute show, which lines up with Velma lengths. Adult Swim may be forced to air Velma for synergy and figures they may as well do it on April Fools.

      What exactly did he rehash?

      Anonymous

Hadel mostly just rehashes jokes him or other people said on sleepycabin and oneyplays. The animation style on Smiling Friends is also rehash of existing things that Hadel took from other popular Newgrounders. For example, they use rotoscope animation as a joke but that was stolen from sickanimation, who did that in most of his most popular cartoons. It's such a subtle joke to steal and the sickanimation guy is even a main character on the show.

To be honest, I never really knew what Zach's own original ideas were because he mostly borrows from people he used to do shit with or is a fan of. He is funny in his own right, but even his animation style was how Oney animated. It seems like he brought all of his newgrounds peers onto Smiling Friends to use their voice or unique style but then give himself the BIG credit in front of a much bigger audience...Does nobody else feel that way?

        Anonymous

No one cares. Whoever sells the joke to cable first is the winner. Zach has a TV show while the morons he “stole” from are still living with their mom because Newgrounds doesn’t pay shit

There is nothing wrong with re-using jokes that they have done themselves.
Not everyone watches the podcast and not everyone watches oneyplays
Its like being upset at comedians for using the same routine as they travel around the country.
Or being upset that people create coverbands and make money off of it
On top of that, sickanimation doesn't own the rights to TRACING VIDEOS so I don't understand why you are bringing it up like its theft
I feel like you have a personal issue with m- I mean Zach and unless you have met him and spent enough time with him to actually get to know him its likely that you are jealous that someone from newgrounds is successful and should be spending that unreasonable jealousy into making something with value

Aside from hellbenders, which was literally just a caricature of himself and chris, most of his original cartoons were parodies or references. I think the only one that wasn't was clown robbery, and he says he hates that one. but him working with chris to make hellbenders is what got him all of that attention in the first place, and he probably owes most of his success to that project.

I don't remember this? Must've been done for a joke. Still, most sensible people, no matter what side of the political spectrum you are, wouldn't support incest. As for charlie being bi? It was a funny joke with bilbo baggins, wasn't like he was waving the aids flag around screaming "I'm a gay". Just wonder when the next current thing happens and adult swim forces zach or michael to say something about it publicly or in their show, or just uses their characters in support or non support of the current thing like cartoon network did. Or they just have an episode that has jokes which are perceived to be bigoted and they get cancelled.

Dude I think the "I HATE SMILING FRIENDS" guy has been gone for years. The neopuritan poster is the same gay who makes the cartoon dads threads.

Hey, is this GreasyMOJO/MainlineMOJO, or whatever the frick you furhomosexual call yourself? Yeah, I saw you complaining about the neo-puritans on your stream yesterday, I just want to tell you that your art is terrible and you should have a nice day, degenerate. If you’re not him, then disregard all but the second part of my response anyway.

    >also they spoiled the april fools prank this year frick them
I've watched the april fools prank every year since 2015 and tbh I'd completely forgotten about this year's so I'm glad they advertised it (unless it's a fakeout then frick them)
I think they had to promote otherwise no-one would've watched

Hopefully it'll all drop on max the next day so we get some quality rips

It'd be so funny they could literally just do something shitting on Justin Roiland.

Cusack would never, Roiland gave him everything.

The other idea I'd have for an [as] April Fools prank would be an all-night Captain Planet marathon with a special introduction from Ted Turner.

I'll never understand "HAHA you didn't get that thing you wanted" as an April Fools prank. It's not funny, it just makes you look like an butthole.

It actually is pretty funny because those fanbases get so irrationally mad that they fell for an obvious prank

This. In retrospective, Cinemaphile having a meltdown over not getting a new Samurai Jack episode in front of Cinemaphile is pretty dang funny.

2017 was shit. They didn’t even try on the midnight prank and put all their stock into the R&M drop which was just lazy
    >dude you have been waiting so long here episodes 1 like 10 times in a row lmao!
Jackgay butthurt was a bonus but they couldn’t have planned for that.

2018 was great since it’s likely the last prank Toonami will get. Bushworld was an excellent bonus

2019 was awful and I’m tired of contrarians saying it was good

2020 was great, it’s what 2017 could have been

After that, all garbage. I doubt this year will be better. They are advertising Smiling Friends because that is NOT what will air

      Anonymous

The 2017 midnight prank was really funny. I was a butthurt Jackgay which in retrospect was funny too. I literally only had to wait one more week for the next episode.

        Anonymous

The bleed over into Toonami was funny because they took it very personally, but that wasn’t the prank, just a side effect. Nobody watched the same episode for 4 hours. It’s a joke that was funny once, not the 5th time

Adult Swim/HBO max need to make a Megg, Mogg and Owl show then bring back Tuca & Bertie otherwise they'll be doomed to irrelevancy.

Honestly I thought Tuva and Bertie was pretty mid. It got better after the first season but over all eh never really went anywhere and wasn’t entertaining enough to be really remembered.

They did bring it back, no one watched it. AS is a primarily male demo block, it shouldn’t be airing women focused shows

Not sure if this confirms it, old [as] would have every single employee in on the joke. Like that time they pretended to be mad that Turner "spoiled" the prank of Gemusetto season 2 only for it to turn out to be a night of stealth premieres.

        Anonymous

This. It’s one of two things
        1. They are in on it and trying to validate it
        2. They are NOT in on it and genuinely think their show will premier then and will get rused like the rest of us

It’s gonna be episode one of season 2 all blurry, pitched up, and distorted with a bump after saying the real season premieres next week.

I'm actually surprised that futurama didn't dump all of their new episodes at the same time. they were probably all already finished at the premier. I haven't had hulu or any streaming service in years, is it common for their shows to have weekly premiers instead of putting them all up at once?

At this point with over-the-air TV ratings as low as they are, why not go crazy. It's hardly like anybody will see them

            Anonymous

Because they still need to make money. R&M and the Fox slop pulls about 250k viewers on average. Most AS original shows struggle to crack 150k.

AS is one of the top 5 networks on all of cable ratings wise. I assume they want to maintain that title so lucrative ad deals keep coming in
