yeah he aint mad max only gibson but the problem with wasteland is that it would be another prequel
prequels fricking suck there is not a single good one
>to entice normies to go
Fury Road also didn't perform that well, despite the oscar and insane word of mouth.
Normies don't give a shit about this franchise.
Fury Road did 150 million at the box office. This whole "Mad Max was always an underground indie film experience" cope that you RLMcels pull to protect the gay girlboss movie is getting so frickin annoying.
It made 380 worldwide on a 150 million budget, the studio barely broke even when you take marketing and theater share into account. They only greenlit another because of home media sales and the Academy Awards.
lmao Miller was never ever gonna make another movie with nu-Mad Max ever again. get the frick out of my face with that shit. Miller became an estrogenized feminazi moron in his later years.
I hate feminist men far more than I do feminist women, they are just a bunch of self-hating pussies who worship women no matter what. It's basically the last step of the simp de-evolution.
This. He wrote 2 prequels to Fury Road, one was Mad Max the wasteland, the other was Furiosa, he chose to make Furiosa first for a reason.
If you want to know Miller's politics, check out 3000 years of longing, the first half is a fun fantasy film, the second half is a BMWF romance film filled with pro-brexit strawmen that the mc has to take down.
Miller is someone whose good enough for the “separation of art and artist” but woof was 3000 years of longing WAAAAAAAY to much, and I’m a dog fart enjoyer
>unless it's old man Mel Gibson
This 1000%, it would be so comically easy too. No one would care about the plot even, just announce the next MM with Mel reprising his role as old man Max and it would get $800M at the box office no question
>"Hey George, people really love Fury Road, especially the action and practical effects!" >"maybe you should throw all that away to focus on a character no one cares about in a prequel no kne asked for."

The studio made him do Furisoa first. Also, there was the lawsuit that delayed it for years.
>He didn't have to do Furiosa first.
I'd wager he was forced to do Furiosa first by the studio execs. There's no reason to do Furiosa first or at all for whatever reason. Or, they should've delegated Furiosa to another director and Miller should've been exec. producer.
Forcing Miller to do Furiosa seems like a current year move.
Miller strikes me as one of those boomers who has fallen for "current year" trends and wanted to make a pro woman movie. Maybe it would have played better in 2019 or whenever he wanted to originally release it, but in 2024 it turns people off.
Most of fury road was extreme kino. People already didnt like the character of furiosa that much, and the frickin granny gang was the corniest shit the series has done yet, and thats no small feat. I dont know why in the frick they had to double down and just fricking torpedo the franchise. They had to know what was going to happen.
I didn’t watch Furiosa cause I’m just tired of prequels. I don’t need to know how people became who they are, or whatever. I wanna see the next adventure.
They wont make it because they dont want to makei it so obvious that people dont want to watch woman centered movies. Certainly not in action movies.
Also just because of the reason of "frick you." they want diversity but they want everyone to pay for the whole package, not picking and choosing the one that interests them.
The last two movies were delayed and plagued with problems before they eventually get made, this is just a part of the process. If it happens it happens. (I hope it does)
The difference is that critics fricking hated Carpenter's The Thing when it first came out. Furiosa had nothing but good/great reviews across the board and it's still bombed badly.
Basically. FR was in development hell for so long that he wrote three movies worth of material. It's more like he wrote a trilogy and they made make the third part first. Furiosa is pt 1, Wasteland is pt. 2.

The original Fury Road script was made to be the end of the whole Mad Max saga, with an older Max played by Mel Gibson and the story ending with Max marrying Furiosa and leading the Citadel together.
When they went about to actually make the movie Gibson became persona non grata and the story was changed to cut out the romance angle because the feminist consultants found issue with it.
Furiosa originally was meant to be nothing but an animated movie meant to show the humble beginnings of Max's future wife. This eventually morphed into a future film because now the trend is for action oriented films starring girl bosses.
I doubt they were any plans for Wasteland. Miller changed a lot over the years. He doesn't even speak with Gibson anymore and Tom Hardy was a menace on the set of Fury Road.
What would’ve been offensive about furiosa and max getting together at the end? That feels like it should’ve been the real end, give max his full circle, he saved so many from the wasteland let furiosa save him
The feminist consultants probably found issue with a female co-lead BEING nothing but a possible romantic interest.
Once again the original script made sense when it was supposed to star Mel Gibson as an older Max. In the original script he's much older and much, much crazier. Furiosa basically helps him find his humanity again.
This angle was done away with once Gibson wasn't needed anymore.
Did you watch the first two? The first one is him straight up stating “if I don’t stop now I’ll just become another one of the crazies out there deluding myself into thinking I’m the good guy because of a badge” second one he’s straight up presented as a mythic hero who never wants to be. The strong woman in road warrior dies so it makes sense that his “canon end” would be finding another one like him broken by the wasteland and then saving each other

I hate that women claim to hate romance now, it’s like all of feminisms stated beliefs just exist to hurt humanity and western civilization rather than stand for any sort of equality, or at the very least a real foot forward for the species

The end of the franchise should be Max finding a new civilisation, away from the wasteland, that has laws and society.
And then, shortly after finding it, the horrors of the wasteland find it too and Max has to defend it. And then it ending with Max finally feeling 'home' and allowing himself to rest.
Fury road would’ve been a fine enough ending with him and furiosa going up to the citadel with the hopeful assumption to remake society. Honestly the biggest thing that hurt furiosa was fury road filming in Namibia when the rest of the series did fine filming in the Australian outback. I can’t see the world of fury road coming back together but I could see the world of thunder dome and road warrior coming back
>They should give the characters to a younger director
No, they absolutely should not. Mad Max is the only franchise where there was only the original creator all the way through. Even Phantasm got broken
Bulimiosa was a bad choice
Should have made the wastlands and released Furiosa as an comic book style animated movie on Hulu
Why am I not getting paid for my business insights?

If the second nu max had been a box office hit they would have just made more feminist "Mad Max" movies.
But since it wasn't a success they can use it to browbeat the fans instead; >"Because you didn't watch our female empowerment movie you aren't getting your chud dudebro movie that you were never going to get anyway!"
Here's how Furiosa was originally goin to end, not with Max leaving Furiosa and the girls to lead the Citadel alone, but rather with Max being lifted up to the Citadel together with Furiosa, so that both of them could lead the Citadel as companions.
This was going to be the end of Gibson's Max.
Then you'd have Wasteland as a prequel of sorts with a younger actor portray Max. Eventually Miller decided to nip everything and just have a younger actor playing Max in Fury Road, cutting Mel Gibson entirely from the project.

It’s like they hate money or something
Miller is in his 80s, furiosa won’t erase the better movies in the series, he’s probably fine with it being done. Good Goy would make a Hollywood approved STRONG WHAMAN movie and this is what Miller did
It’s WB’s fault for allowing Miller to be a dumbass

I can't believe Furiosa will be the last mad max movie until Miller dies and the studio squeezes the IP dry.
miller was literally the only reason we still got mad max kino, it was his baby. the franchise will permanently die with him. they're niche films.
Fury Road did 150 million at the box office. This whole "Mad Max was always an underground indie film experience" cope that you RLMcels pull to protect the gay girlboss movie is getting so frickin annoying.
Mad Max 1 was the most profitable film of all time for 20 years until Blair Witch came along

why are people afraid of pic related?
It doesn’t fit the mad max universe or the character at all
