        The Canadian government?

Trudeau isn’t manipulative or a pederast, he’s just a gay man.

        >pederast
        Not in the movie

        >Manipulative
        Not in the movie
        >Charismatic
Again, not int he movie. Only Feyd was shown like in the books. Paul is the worse, if not by Stilgar cheering him in every scene he would be nothing but a mumbling autist.

        >The baron isn't a pederast in the movie

What do you suppose then are the full functions of the lightly clad bedchamber servants who dwell in Baron Harkonnen's private bathroom?

You don't suppose the Baron dresses them in semi transparent Grecian tunics because he liked the fashion?

I think it's clear to me Denis wanted to include a visual nod to the Baron's depravities without being too overt about it.

Those are clearly women, and every thrall in Geidi Prime looks like that. The ones helping Feyd to dress look the same. This minimalist approach do not fit Dune, too much "nods" and too little content.

With Dune you go crazy or go home.

That's a pretty dumb test. Even with shitty characters you can go
    >orphaned by the empire, he was brainwashed and trained to be a weapon. Even then, his gust told him another story, different from the glamour of the Empire's propagand. After refusing to take part in the massacre of innocents, he defected to the rebellion to forge a new path for himself, find along the way new friends and a new name.

I would be a little biased by Dunc since I read the books, I have to restrain the description to what we see in the screen, and this time yeah, shit gets complicated. DeVries and Thuffir for example are just window dressing, they have merely connect scenes without ever explaining who they are, we just know they are thralls for the Atreides/Harkonnen.

      1. Doesn’t describe the character, it describes the plot
      2. To the extent it does describe the character, it does so by describing their profession and role in the plot

Qui gon was the first time we saw a real jedi at his prime He's beyond wise and powerful he represents stoicism.

Jar Jar is the yoda type character, yoda in the OT was a contradiction of what a powerful warrior is supposed to be. In the OT Jar Jar plays a pivitol role in showing the jedi the goonga city and briding the cultural gap between the naboo and the goongas.

These two characters are better written than anything done by nu-wars or plinkett

I would summarize qui-gons character in that scene where he cheats the dice roll. He's not afraid of having grey morals for the ultimate greater good. Saving a child slave was more important to him than a fair dice roll.

      >abandons child’s mother to slavery

        >abandons child’s mother to slavery
To be fair, it's not his culture or his place to judge them, if the Jedi starts to make a fuss about slaves they would need to go down in the whole Hutt crime empire, and his only interest was the child.

It goes to show again that Count Dooku was right, the Jedi order was lost in their hubris.

I don't understand this test. Are you supposed to describe a character in abstract terms? How is that a character at all?

      Anonymous

You're supposed to describe personality and character traits. Honest, dishonest, loyal, traitorous, kind, rude, skeptical, gullible, optimistic, jaded, idealistic, cynical, cowardly, courageous, timid, foolhardy, etc. If a character doesn't have a personality, it's not much a character.
